Tried to book an offer on their website, rooms were available, no small print to suggest I did not qualify. Hotel refused to sell deal and said they did not have to print terms and conditions. Supposedly availability means when they choose to honour it. A member of staff said they never honour in school holidays which is 13 weeks or 1/4 of the year. Little bit naughty I thought, advert needs clarification
We were met with a warm welcome from the very friendly receptionist after a long three hour journey, check in was quick and informal then straight up to our room. They have a lift should you have mobility problems. Hotel is situated at the top of Lyndhurst High Street so a great location with plenty of places to walk to in the evening for a meal or drink. However why bother when the hotel itself has a great restaurant and bar. Barman is a great mixologist with plenty of variety and an extensive wine list - trust the 'maître d' and you can't go wrong, each course we had was more than delicious. The room was lovely plenty of hanging and drawer space for clothing, large bathroom with plenty of toiletries. It had a large comfortable bed with crisp white linen two chairs and a small table. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits in the room. Our room was located to the rear overlooking the garden area, it was exceptionally quiet and the black out blinds and curtains kept the morning sunshine out just enough for us to have a well deserved lay in. There was a vast range of breakfast options in the self serve buffet with fresh tea and coffee delivered to your table. Decor of hotel was very tasteful, in keeping and of good quality, think Farrow and Ball with an eclectic twist. Plenty of parking to the rear of the hotel. Try it you definitely will not be disappointed.
Our weekend stay at this hotel was very lovely. The decor throughout is contemporary and rooms are clean. The bathrooms in particular are great! The only downside I'd have in regards to the rooms is that the beds aren't very big so it's quite snug!! Staff can't do enough for you and are all very smiley. The breakfast in the morning is good with lots of choice available. Excellent sausages! The location is great with everything on your doorstep. This hotel is definitely worth going to if you're staying in the local area.
Lyndhurst is a great base for exploring the New Forest and this hotel was such a good choice. It is situated in the main street with the convenience of a car park at the rear. The staff were all very efficient and welcoming. Our room was very comfortable and was situated at the front overlooking the church. It is a very busy road but noise was not an issue as the double glazing works very well - we stayed for 6 nights and had no problem. The aircon was also very efficient. Breakfast is very good with plenty of choice. We had two dinners and one lunch at the hotel. The sandwiches are large and very good (with chips!!). Dinner was generally good quality but not spectacular. The hotel is well maintained and looks "cared for". We would definitely stay here again as we had such an enjoyable time.
Had a nice stay in a snug double! Had a lovely room not overly big but did the job! Lovely shower! Bed slightly small for two people but not uncomfortable! Very friendly staff and good breakfast! In a lovely town!
A classic style hotel with elegant decor and helpful, friendly staff. A hotel which is used for regular functions, but this does not impact on guests staying for other reasons. Lovely self service breakfast to suit any dietry needs in a beautiful function room. During our 3 day stay we had lunch, afternoon tea and an evening meal at the hotel and were not disappointed with the quality of the food or the service. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed wth a library and reading room available to enjoy when you feel like a change of scenery. Only downside is a rather small carpark, adequate, but small compared to the amount of rooms.
I stayed here recently on a business trip and was pleasantly surprised. This is an old hotel but the rooms have been finished to a high standard with all the modern conveniences. I was staying on my own and had a compact double, which was plenty large enough for me. The only negative was that the windows in the room were almost at ceiling level and overlooked the roof. Hotel was clean, food was good and I would stay here again.
2 night stay in a four poster room, quite compact but very clean. No air con but fan provided. Back room overlooking garden and car park, where although was busy always found a space. Breakfast was delicious. Full English, pastries, fruit and yoghurt. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Had a lovely 3 day break at the hotel when visiting the area. Our room was nice and big, very clean and had a great "rainfall" shower above the bath. Every hotel should be made to have one of these. The only downside was that despite having 2 pillows, they were far too soft and my head went straight down to the level of the bed. I solved the problem easy enough by putting the cushions between the pillows, but I'm sure the staff would have done something if I'd asked. Our room was at the rear of the hotel, which meant it was nice and quiet, but gather the rooms at the front can be noisy with the church clock chiming every 15 minutes. Breakfast is buffet style, which is good if there are certain foods you don't like and was always kept stocked up and hot.The evening meal we had was lovely, but I'm surprised they let men into the dining room wearing shorts. Not something I'd do or really approve of, but each to their own I suppose. Another plus was the large car park which is free for guests.
Spent one night here after attending a family party nearby....glad we chose this hotel. Very comfortable rooms and delicious cooked breakfast included in the rate. The evening meal we had was very good and the service superb.Very efficient and friendly.
