My wife and I had traveled 19 hrs from Western Australia direct to Southampton. We were greeted by a friendly receptionist who very quickly and efficiently processed us into our room which was spotlessly clean and neat. Immediately we could see we had made the right choice in staying at Holiday inn Southampton. That night we had dinner in the Dining Room served by young but efficient and respectful staff. The food choice was wide and good quality and very flavorsome. The wine list although not hugely extensive was certainly adequate. Staff were always available to assist with queries and provide assistance. This Hotel offered my wife and comfort and practical assistance when assistance was requested. The staff quality, the backbone of any business, was excellent.Without exception they take pride in their work. This Hotel will be one we revisit when next in Southampton.
I had an excellent stay at this hotel. The staff on reception were friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable with an excellent bathroom, my only criticism being there was only a shower when I prefer a bath. Amazing views over the docks from bedroom window. I ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent, can recommend the chicken sizzler plate. Staff were also very friendly and the service was spot on. Breakfast was also of a high quality, the staff were welcoming and I was pleased to see they still serve your tea or coffee as opposed to the coffee stations in some other hotels. Would definitely recommend this hotel and will book again when I next go on a cruise.
The reception area has been spruced up since our last stay. The bedroom area of the rooms are dated but clean and acceptable (assuming rooms are perhaps being refurbed gradually as photos show much newer furnishings than we had) - however, the bathrooms are very tired / run down. Conveniently placed for town and docks.
We had our Wedding Breakfast and Reception here and it was truly wonderful. The Staff were so kind and couldn't do enough for us. A special thank you to Sam Wilds, she was brilliant and went above and beyond for us. Food was lovely and the Hotel has lovely new decor. Great view of the Ships and the old Walls from the rooms. Would highly recommend this Hotel for your Wedding or to stay in general. We will always treasure this memory.
Good location for both access to Town amenities and more importantly to Dock area. Parking was available albeit at £10 per day. Staff helpful and able to help with local facilities information. Room service good, Breakfast excellent with varied choices for both cereals and fruit followed by good fry- up.
This hotel excellent we stayed here two weeks ago as my niece got married in this hotel.Staff were amazing couldn't do enough to help us with any problems nothing was too much trouble the wedding was perfect staff were amazing couldn't do enough to make sure everything went smoothly food was gorgeous would highly recommend if you are thinking of getting married here to go have a look breakfast was lovely loads of choice you could have as much as you liked
there was no flannels/broken toilet seat/no iron & board/no safe/no fridge "cooler"/bath enamel chipped/broken floor tile/broken wall tile/bathroom door bottom paint coming off. should be called the budget inn, when i phoned up the desk about the flannels they said that only the executives suits receive them. I said that what am i to wash myself with she sais well we might be able to ring a flannel to your room .asked regarding the safe same again only the executives suits .was wanting to get ready and asked where was the iron & board again executives suits get them but we will bring one to your room i said please as i was going out. Then when i went to use the toilet i nearly fell off the seat was broken. Phoned up the desk to report it they said that hey would get someone to look at it, and try to fix it ,told them that i was going out straight away ,that's ok we will fix it when you are out. i told them that i did not have a safe for my valuables when i am not in the room. they say that's ok we can fix it in the morning. I told them i was only at the hotel for one night, next morning time to leave the room was 12pm ,so getting dressed there was two taps on the door no sooner had i pulled up my boxers when the hotel worker opened the door with the female cleaner with him this was at 10-55am.i was stunned and all he could say was I've just come to check the furniture ,i said nothing wrong with the furniture, but we do have a broken toilet seat . he said that i will look at it and see if i can fix it, why on earth did he tap on the door two sharp taps and straight away opening the door, it was very embarrassing especially with the cleaner with him, he didn't even apologise
I stayed here en route to visiting friends in Swanage. I was very pleased with the hotel; the staff were friendly and the room was spacious and comfortable. I got a sea view, which I requested. The breakfast was plentiful and I was intrigued by the pancake making machine! The swimming pool and jacuzzi were lovely. It would have made my stay better if there had been a swimsuit dryer in the ladies' changing area by the swimming pool as I was moving on that day. Overall it was an enjoyable stay and I would come back.
Stayed here the night before a cruise . Location excellent right next to dock gates . Few minutes walk from city centre . Very friendly receptionist at check in . modern lobby and bar . Room was good size and very comfortable bed . Had issue with toilet leaking but was attended to straight away . Decent meal in restaurant too . Only thing to criticise was room nearing point where needs refurbishment a bit tired flaking paint etc but didn't detract from overall stay in any way and would stay here again if back in Southampton
A professional and efficient reception was the introduction to this hotel. The room was standard holiday inn layout and clean as a whistle. Strong internet helped get the work done. There a café that has a limited range of meals. After two night it would be time to eat out. My only complaint is regarding the smokers. Yes they a banned from inside the hotel but they loiter just outside the front door. Please move the ash trays away and hope the smokers do likewise.
