I being staying in this hotel since last three weeks. This week I was given refurbished room, what a transformation. Room was modern and refreshing with bedside USB plugs. Staff is always nice, they are true asset to this hotel. Breakfast is always good as well. Pool in the health club very useful after long tiring day.
We were welcome by lovely receptionist and room allocated was very cosy. Staff was amazing not to much trouble for them for anything we request. Didn't got chance to use the pool. Next day breakfast was plentiful again staff was very helpful.
Stayed in the hotel last weekend. Staff was fabulous, they were friendly and welcoming. We were upgraded to a newly refurbished room which was spot on. Nice modern room with a very comfy bed. Bar area in the hotel lobby was nicely done. Hotel has a nice swimming pool as well. We will definitely stay here again.
We upgraded our room to a superior room. The reception when we arrived made us very welcome and everyone there was always smiling and helpful. There is no lift there and we were on the 2nd floor, they did say they would carry our bags if we needed to. The evening went well and a buffet was served, but it was nothing to write home about. Our room was a good size, but the bathroom bits, there was just 1 of each shampoo and conditioner (for 2 of us) and no bath gel. We rang to reception who brought 1 up to us(for 2 people). Breakfast was buffet style and most of it was okay, but the black pudding was as tough as old boots!
From the moment you walk through the wonky automatic doors into the reception area, you get this ominous feeling that this is not going to be a pleasant experience. Our first allocated room was 117 where we unpacked our few overnight items and were about to settle down for a quiet rest when all hell broke loose. Somebody was operating a hammer drill on the concrete frame of the room we were in and the noise and vibration were unbelievable. I went straight back to reception to complain and was told that the noise would only go on for another hour as on Saturday afternoons the construction work finishes at 5pm. After much protest and delay waiting for the shift manager to arrive we were moved to another room - number 345. This room was so far from reception and up and down so many corridors that you would need a GPS to find it, however, thankfully it was quiet. We were attending a party that was being held in the function room of the hotel with the hotel doing the catering, bar-tending and providing the disco. The food was really revolting, the bar-tenders turned up only occasionally and the music so loud it drove us out of the room. At breakfast the fried eggs were luke warm and hard and the black pudding dry and hard. All round not an experience we will repeat.
My sixth visit and the Hotel has undergone a pleasant change - a refurbishment in progress as I some touches I assume as corridor pictures are awaiting hanging? Room 325 - executive - quiet and appropriate! The staff are the Hotel’s prime asset - Pranay, Chusha(?), Angela, Roshima, and Gabriella and the bar and breakfast crew were efficient and polite - the function team and the meal, was first rate and the lemon tartlette was excellent with good sable pastry! See you all soon...
We booked this hotel on the basis of being a spa hotel - we got told that massages were available and this would be arranged for us but when we arrived we were told the lady was mobile and we have to call her ourselves and she wasn't available over the bank holiday weekend, why should have been made aware of this and that the hot tub wasn't working. We got put in a disabled room which has mild on the ceiling and it was freezing even with the heat on, we complained and kindly they moved us to another room. There wasn't a children's menu to hand... apparently as a 'family hotel' we should have asked for a child's menu although we was told at the reception there was only one menu for all. When having breakfast our sausages were not cooked through and got told because they are a certain type if sausage they were meant to be pink inside...! On the Sunday morning we got a bang on the door at 9.15am from the housekeeper who apparently had to clean our room although we still had a couple of hours to check out time! Was not impressed as it was new years eve and we were up after quite late! The hotel offers decafe tea but when requested at reception we were told this was something they didn't do although there was a sign next to the kettle suggesting they did! I wouldn't recommend this hotel... I feel we were given false information in regards to the massage we were told would be sorted by the hotel and in regards to being a family hotel with no children's menu which obviously was double the money as we had to but them adult portions which of course was unable to be finished. Oh not to mention when we ordered a chicken salad the chicken was near enough frozen and had to be sent back!
The hotel room appeared to have paper walls, even at 3AM you could hear people coming up and down the stairs all night. This was not due to the current refurbishments going on in the hotel but just seems like the room itself was small with thin walls - Because of this I was up most of the night. The Air-Con was poor, and the room itself looked like it hadn't been changed since the 70's. The Breakfast was very good in the morning with a decent selection, and I am impressed with the staff, so it is just a shame that the state of the room was not very Modern
Visited the club /gym twice .Before Christmas & the second week of January . Someone had used the shower as a toilet. Too much Chlorine in the swimming pool . A woman vagabond was allowed to use the showers . Leaving the place in a complete mess & upsetting guests & members . The staff turned a blind eye . The only good point was having a quiet swim.
