Good location for travelling to Portsmouth and Southampton. There are a few places to eat close to the hotel and you are next to the Cricket ground. The hotel rooms are very well equipped with good wifi. Breakfast was good and plentiful. I would stay here again

My partner and I booked this hotel for an over night stay while enjoying a powerboat experience day at the quays in Southampton. Check in and check out we're both easy, quick and the receptionists are efficient. The hotel, although a little out the way, is a well appointed, clean establishment. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was a generous size with a nice shower. The bar and restaurant area was quite busy early evening so we opted to find a curry house in the city centre which was highly recommended. We had a night cap in the bar on our return but the area lacked atmosphere and any kind of ambiance. Breakfast at 9 am was very crowded and noisy. The ingredients used i.e. Sausages, bacon, eggs, rolls etc aren't particularly of a high quality and it was all very bland but edible. The staff worked tirelessly to keep the dining area clean as soon as customers vacated their table. One thing that did strike me as odd was the huge piles of dirty laundry that were just left outside to fester. We had a lovely view of this from our bedroom window! I rate this hotel as average, no more. If I visit Southampton again, I would prefer to stay nearer the city centre but that's just my personal preference.

We had an early appointment in Southampton and decided that an early drive from Yeovil was not what we wanted. Having stayed here previously we were very happy to book a room here even though it is a bit remote. Nice room and decent food at a reasonable price

We booked this as part of a package through Paultons Park as we'd decided to visit Peppa Pig World for my daughter's fourth birthday during the Whitsun half term week. The deal is for two days entry to the park + an overnight hotel stay. We arrived early evening having spent the day in Paultons Park and then travelling in to Southampton itself for an evening meal. Very easy to find and well signposted, it's right by the Hampshire cricket ground (Ageas Bowl) and easy access from the motorway. Large Sainsburys nearby if you need anything as well as a few other retail parks. Plenty of parking available. Check-in was straightforward and we were given the key card for our room after the usual credit card check. The room was okay though a little compact, shower only. We'd not stayed in a Holiday Inn Express before as a family so I was expecting a family room for four to have three beds in it like Premier Inn. This wasn't the case, there was a double and a pull out sofa bed for the kids to share. This might work for some families but not our two as there both quite tall despite their age and fidget around quite a bit in bed. We tried top and tail initially but this didn't work out so they slept next to each other, it took them a long time to settle eventually both falling asleep a long time after they should have been. All okay until my daughter fell out of the bed shortly after midnight and the wife and I decided to share a bed each with them. Unfortunately my son was taking up most of the sofa bed to I spent the rest of the night trying to sleep perched on the edge and was virtually crippled by the morning. Not sure the wife had it much better. This isn't a complaint as such, I should have found out the room setup before booking, but Premier Inn have this nailed so will use them in future. The inclusive breakfast was an added bonus and there was a decent enough selection of items on the buffet including some proper coffee which was welcomed after the night that we'd just had. I've said it before about other hotels but the hot buffet is never up to much, this was no exception but I'm intrigued as to how scrambled eggs can be made so bland. Only other thing to note was there was no one to greet us at breakfast or take our room number so we just picked a table and helped ourselves, so if you're in the area and want a free breakfast..... As a couple this hotel would have been fine for an overnight stay but as a family it really didn't work for us but I don't really have a complaint as it is what it is. We enjoyed our two days at Paultons / Peppa Pig World and that was the main thing. Journey home was sponsored by RedBull!

Didn't realise when booked there was a sister hotel right next to the port. However it was only 25mins drive away and closer to the motorway. The Virgin active club next door with an outdoor pool attracted me ( as we are members elsewhere )as well as it's very reasonable price directly though hotel. Great family room - 2 queen beds and it was a very warm evening but slept great as room quiet and it had excellent room A/c. Friendly , helpful reception staff guided us well when we said we wanted to eat out to explore the area. Was a great way to start our cruise .

We arrived to be told that two bookings (2 rooms) (double cost) had been made for us and we would have to pay and sort out ourselves with! Then in came the star member of staff who should be promoted. She stayed on the phone, on hold for over half an hour and sorted the problem. I'm just so sorry I didn't get her name because she went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. We then enjoyed dinner in the hotel, the barman was also great and remembered our drinks order throughout the evening. Well done holiday inn for employing quality staff members who deserve promotion and recognition! Ps. Breakfast was a bun fight!

I stayed there just for one night. The location was a bit remote. The reception staff were friendly and quick. The room was clean and big enough for two. There was a pull out bed for a toddler. The breakfast was noisy and busy with young families. There was even soya milk for us vegans. The parking was included in the room rate.

We booked this hotel as an alternative and were positively surprised. Comfort and services are outstanding, rooms are clean and comfortable, restaurant is well managed, parking is free and easy, breakfast included in the booking. The only minus is that the two electric sockets are too far away from the mirror which is not helping when using hair straighteners. We will definitely book again with this hotel chain. Thank you for your hospitality.

Arrived to check in approx 18.30 on Monday 3 staff members dealing with arrivals this didn't stop there be approx 5 people in the queue in front they don't seem prepared for this .my room was pre booked and prepaid but still insisted in taking a cash deposit of me ,why when they had my bosses card details .next morning skipped breakfast walked out main reception door to car park to be be greeted by a cloud of smoke .why do people insist in smoking directly outside ,I don't smoke and don't appreciate walking thru other people's smoke also find it hard to sleep with light coming in the room gap between door and frame
