Novum Hotel Belmondo Hamburg Hbf.4.0 out of 5.0

Let’s get real here - no one who has stayed here & reviewed this place has paid mega bucks for a room or expected it to be a palace for the price either! Yes, it’s a 10 minute walk from the train station, yes the location isn’t the most salubrious but I never felt threatened or unsafe. Yes it’s next to a busy road but this is a city not the countryside. I stayed in a triple room with my family that was a little bit neat because of the extra single bed in the room - but at least my teenager didn’t have to sleep on a camp bed with their feet hanging off the end which is my bug bear. There is no fridge/mini bar - it’s clearly been taken away - would have been good for it to be there but...! The tv has only 2 English speaking channels and neither one is BBC World strangely. There is a kettle and limited beverages and milk. There’s also a safe. The room is inoffensive but with cheap 80s furniture and similarly the soft furnishings are basic. What you can expect from here is a spotlessly clean room. Carpets in hotels I hate but this one was clean and didn’t make your feet dirty - a first I have to say! The bathroom was compact but again adequate, with plenty of towels and it was clean. The beds were comfortable, with clean linen. I requested extra pillows and this was not a problem. WiFi is free and works well.Check in was straightforward, with the staff member being polite if not overtly friendly. The housekeeping staff are super and doa great job as well as being pleasant and helpful. The location is fine, 10 minutes from the station and centre. There are small shops nearby and a supermarket 10 minutes away. I didn’t have breakfast, which was overpriced at €14.90 and didn’t use the bar. I didn’t spend a huge amount of time here. It’s a good, economical place to rest your head to explore Hamburg. If you want luxury put your hand deeper in your pockets and pay for it. This isn’t a 4* by any means but it’s clean, cheap and perfectly acceptable.
The only good thing about this Hotel is that it is near the 112 bus stop which has a wonderful route. BUT you must take your life in your hands to cross the two roads. The location is quite dangerous and I would advise singles never to walk back to the hotel alone at night. There was no A/C in my room and it was very warm even in September. It was essential to keep the window open. It is OK if you remember to bring your ear plugs as the traffic noise is horrendous. None of the rooms have a view. The breakfast is very expensive at 14.90 and quite poor.
Booked two nights in this hotel with my family as we were meeting my daughter in Hamburg. The hotel is about 10/15 minutes walk from the main train station and not in the nicest of areas. As it is referred to as the Hauptbahnhof hotel, I was expecting it to be much nearer to the station than it was. We had a queensize double room on the second floor overlooking a three lane road. The noise from the traffic was horrendous and didn't ease up at all throughout the night. With the windows closed it was almost as bad, but then the room became very warm so sleeping was almost impossible. The bed was pushed into a corner so whoever slept wall side had to clamber over the other person to access the bathroom during the night. The room was very basic but had tea/coffee making facilities and the bed was comfortable which made being unable to sleep due to the traffic noise even more frustrating. Lighting in the room was very poor. I didn't book breakfast there as I couldn't establish from the website what it comprised so booked elsewhere. Decided to have a drink in the bar one evening and out of two choices of white wine, my choice wasn't available which left me with one that was most unpleasant. I wouldn't stay in this hotel again
Room is clean. Free Wi-Fi. No minibar. You can make your own coffee and thea. Bathroom smalle for a 4* Hotel but clean. Breakfast simple. Parking inside : you have an entrance 25% steep! 15 euro p.night! Outside P.place 10 euro.s! 10 minutes walk from the main train and bus station. Here you can find the Hop on Hop pff busses. Next to the station is St. George a lovely upcomming part of Hamburg Easily to walk to the city center.
We lived for a weekend on the hotel. We had a one mans room and a room with 3 beds. It worked fine. Close to centrum, about 10-15 mins walk. Most of the receptionists can talk english. The hotel is out to a trafficing road and not really any green areas.
The hotel room was clean and the reception and cleaning staff were friendly. A ten minute walk from the main station but for us at least, not that easy to find. It is situated on a busy main road and well within hearing distance of the Hauptbahnhof. In September we could keep the windows closed to keep the noise manageable but I imagine that in the summer it would be quite stifling. Our room was on a corner so we had two walls with large windows, one of which opened fully over a five storey drop. The 'view' was of air con units and the road. No bath and the shower head would go no higher than shoulder height so less than ideal. Also a little thing but annoying, each day we were given four coffees and only three milks. The bar too was not very good. I asked for white wine and were told that the only one they had was not chilled, a small sample revealed it was also not drinkable. My partner finished his beer and was not offered another...we figured that in this less than welcoming bar this was their loss! Wouldn't go back.
A 3* + hotel Clean and fresh linens and towels Clean rooms and toilet Basic hotel suitable for a stopover 10 min walk from Hamburg main train station No nearby supermarket Corridor carpets gives the impression of an old hotel - dark spotted maroon but rooms are of an acceptable standard
Stopped here for three nights back in June 2016, didn't expect much based on previous reviews but was pleasantly surprised. Clean and spacious room with a good en-suite bathroom. Hotel is around 10/15 minutes walk from Hamburg Hauptbahnhof, so is in a decent spot for travelling around the city. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
Positive things first : Double room is of pretty good size and clean. The best is the big bath room with bathtub and shower. The Railway Station is within walking distance if you have only small bag. Negative points : Reception staff not very service minded. At check -in, without asking my preference, I was brought to the door of room number 3. Without even opening the door I refused to accept it because it was just a few meters from the reception on a narrow corridor where room service staff moved with their trollies full of used linen. The two elevators were next to this room. All this would have caused lots of noise day and nite. Also the room window would have been next to parked cars. My mobile phone gave warning to connect to the only available network LAN1 thus could not use Internet. On the wall the room has aircondition unit. As the weather today on 30 of August was +27 degrees I started to look for ways to operate it. Nothing found, thus I went down to the reception where I was told, without giving a reason, that the system does not work in any room! There is no lobby and the restaurant is ugly. I cannot recommend this hotel!
Very dated, tiny cramped rooms also very dated and run down. Our room had cracked windows and i was cold from the draught. Mouldy room and the receptionist refused to give our money back when we said the room was unacceptable. There were other people complaining about the hotel but the staff were not interested. See pictures. I strongly hope someone revises the stars on this hotel.
