I have used spa services in this hotel, I did massage. When I came to spa I paid for receptionist full price. After she have called the therapist. When therapist came she looks like after deep sleep. She started doing massage. Massage was terrible. With one hand she was doing massage with another she was cleaning her eyes... Therapist 3 times left the room during the treatment and left me alone on the bed... And I was shocked when after massage she started to terrorize me to give tips:))) she did not let me out from the room... she even has laminated A4 paper with sentence that we need to leave tips and was pointing with finger and showing me:)) after she have called another therapist and they started together to attack me. At the end I left $2 and they started lough that it is too little amount... First in my live I had this type of experience...
Restaurant food menu choice is very limited and very average in quality.Restaurant on top floor was lovely for an evening meal. but the bedroom itself was good! The staff were all great! We would stay here again
We only stayed one night prior to going on river cruise. Hotel is large. With nice clean decor. Rooms spacious. Bed huge. Bathroom good. Staff helpful. Hotel seems to cater for large coach parties which meant breakfast was like a cattle market. Restaurant on top floor was lovely for an evening meal. Outdoor pool looked nice. Opposite hotel there appears to be a lot of building work going on which I hope will not affect the beautiful views. We would stay here again although I think taxi is needed to get around as hotel is set back from main attractions.
We stayed at Saigon Halong hotel every year when visited the famous Halong bay for 1 or 2 nights.Good location, good servise, beatiful garden and clean pool. can recomend room pool and sea view on the 9 or 10 floor-fantastic view of Halong bay! Buffet breakfast is excellent-vietnamese and western food in Panorama restaurant on the top floor and with wonderful panorama view of the beatiful bay ! My family definitely enjoyed our stay at Saigon hotel! Silva, Ilcho, Nadya and Delyan, from Sofia, Bulgaria
Not the best for solo travel hotel. This hotel caters for large tourist crowds. They arrive in buses. Restaurant food menu choice is very limited and very average in quality. I stayed in chalet, felt like an abandoned house but the bedroom itself was good! The staff were all great!
Stayed here for the night a couple of days ago with my husband. We stayed in a Villa behind the hotel - it I must say it's the worse hotel room I've stayed in. The walk to the villa is uphill - staff made no effort to help with our large bags (I've just recovered from a broken ankle so it was a struggle). In addition light up the hill and behind the hotel is terrible so you can hardly see a thing after 7pm. The room was basic and dusty looking. The double bed was two beds joined together and the mattress was rock solid. The bathroom was tiny and when I ran a bath the water was a dirty yellow colour. And to make matters worse outside the room the play a high pitched animal buzzing sound to keep animals away but it's so loud you can hear it in your room. Last thing, the hotel reception smells of stale cigars! I would not return to this hotel very disappointing.
Hotel rooms already renovated so very new. However the hotel style is a bit old. Best location looking to Halong Bay. The restaurant has nice view. The villa is not renovated yet so very old, recommend tou stay at hotel
Stayed in a villa 3 for two nights. Cleanliness - The villa was dusty and the floors were not cleaned nor were more toilet paper provided during our stay. We ended up using tissues for toilet paper on the day we checked out. Also room had a very distinctive, unpleasant smell. Staff - Poor English skills and communication with waiters and reception was difficult. Receptionists seemed bit dull and rude. With the exception of lovely Ha who was very helpful with our cruise booking and told us many things about Halong. Thank you Ha! Also our vietnamese friend talked with one of the cleaners who told the staff was under a lot of pressure due to the hotel being fully booked at this time of the year, the staff were told to work even if they were unwell and she was working even with a fever. Rooms - Beds were rock hard. Caused a lot of back and neck pains. Rooms in the villa were spacious though which was nice. Recommend staying in the main hotel as the villa did not feel safe with the front door open 24/7 and having to share with many others who were loud at night time. Services - Pretty much everything was closed during our stay, the pool, the bars etc. Only the reception bar and the top floor were open. View from the top was nice! Breakfast was alright if you wanna fight for a table and be elbowed by chinese tourists. Mainly catered for asians which is alright since most of the tourists were Chinese and Japanese. Saigon Halong Cruise - Amazing! Everything about this cruise was spot on! Really worth going. Beyond all expectations and exceeded the hotels standards. So much food we were full for hours after. I would definitely go again!! All in all, disappointed as the hotel seems better online and everything was closed during our stay. Definitely not a 4 star hotel by any standards. Westerners should avoid this hotel as you wont feel welcome or appreciated in this hotel.
The positive: room was ok (one of the villas) and the view from the restaurant was awesome. Other than that, only disappointments. The staff was dreadfully cold to the point that asking for anything was a struggle of communication and of clear unwillingness. Try and wait 20 minutes for a waiter to simply come to you while you are the sole customer in a totally empty restaurant. The "travel advisor" is incredibly uninterested in informing us what to do. And all but one person seemed to have some level of command of English. That is usually not a problem as where there is a will, there's always a way. In this hotel, there was no will. We had to leave one day earlier and asked if we could be refunded of the last day. They asked us to request through Booking.com. That was some 5 days ago, still no answer from them. And as if it wasn't enough, we had to convince the staff that we had already paid for the room when we arrived as they insisted on double-charging us to the point I had to pretty much take my credit card back from the hand of the reception fella to stop him of doing so and repeating for the 1000th time that I had paid for the room already. Then all of a sudden, the receipt appears magically after several minutes arguing. The looks are deceiving. Sadly, there didn't seem to be many options with a good price in Ha Long Bay anyway.
1) Location : Ha Long (Bai Chay) is a very strange small town. The location of this hotel is somewhat in front of the sea but not really in front of the sea kind of. It is not really in the city centre as well, but not in the other side of town. Without personal vehicle or public transport, it is very hard to reach this hotel. 2) Receptionists : 2 ladies during our check in aren’t really helpful. Moderate English and have no idea what we tried to say. They mistaken “petrol” as we tried to fill the bike tank with “parking” and sent us at the back of the hotel. The bell guy is also less helpful (in fact, not helpful at all). We were carrying 15kg bags each and we have to walk 150m to Villa 4 up the hill, no help given at all. But during the night, the lady is super helpful. She speaks moderate English, but she tried so hard trying to explain to us on how to go to our cruise in Hon Gai. Her effort won our heart. 3) Room : We stayed in one of the rooms in the villa 4, it is a very moderate sized room with confusingly medium sized bathroom. But hey, we don’t have to tiptoe between our luggage to move, so it is not too small either. Hot water is good and ac works well. Not much view, too many trees but I won’t complain. I love it. 4) Breakfast : The breakfast choice is simply amazing. And the view is breathtaking. 5) Cleanliness : The living room in the villa is a bit dusty. But other than that, all is flawless. 6) Recommendation : Do something with you bell boy, or is he only work as door opener? Villa 4 and reception is pretty far. And we rent a bike, we would like to park it in front of the villa. I appreciate the designated area but it is somewhat far. 7) Satisfaction : yes, it is a good place to stay but I advise people to stay in the hotel complex, unless of course they come in big groups.
