just right for the airport. Fast inn / out. Airport shuttle service and parking free for use. Quiet rooms and good bed. Taxi service from hotel out great, at airport a bit difficult to find. Breakfast is standard but correct priced.
While the hotel is located in a modern industrial area it is convenient for visiting Charleroi, Mons, Brussels, Namur etc. Bedrooms have been recently refurbished to a high standard and the breakfast is very good. Evening meals in the restaurant are of an exceptionally high standard with excellent table service at a very reasonable price.
The motel was clean and modern enough, but it was isolated from all conveniences: restaurants, shopping and anything else you might imagine. My daughter and I arrived there around 2pm after a 2.75 hour train ride from Maastricht over the lunch hour. Not having lunch, we were informed that the hotel restaurant had just closed and would not open until 7pm, pizza couldn’t be ordered until 5:30pm and the snack machine was broke. I explained that we hadn’t eaten, so The receptionist offered to call us a taxi. I explained that I had just spent €22.5 to get there in a taxi after a 2.75 train ride and was ready to relax. I would have thought that she would have offered some fresh fruit, or anything to suffice our hunger need until dinner, but she didn’t. To me, she fully demonstrated that we were just another number and that this motel’s management only encourages their employees to just do what they have to to get occupants and no more; don’t go “above board”, or “out of your way”, in other words. No class BW Aero 44!
a great place to stay our room was first class and the food was excellent . the service at dinner was a little on the slow side but the food was superb. the access from the main road was a little clumsy with the hotel not being clearly sign posted off the main road.
Perfect location for accessing airport. Modern, comfortable, no hassle. Hotel has a shuttle to airport from 5am in morning every 30 minutes and drops you off a taxi rank. I didn’t have any meals on this trip.
Faulty card reader to open bedroom door, room 306. Every day I had the same problem: it went green after 5-10 or more swipes, but it remained looked notwithstanding the green light. Then after a second round of 5-10 swipes the green light come back again and the second green light finally unlocked the door. Faulty key card power switch. I told reception and they told me it was normal and I should press very very hard. I had to press so hard I thought it would break. The room looked nice and newly furnished. Lots of ants on the desk when I entered the room. They gave me insect spray at reception, but interestingly they did not offer me to change room, as if it were normal to find ants in a hotel bedroom. Poor sound insulation between rooms. I could understand each word coming from next door, including the words of people talking on the neighbour’s phone load speakers. Very noisy fridge always on and overheating the desk. Mattress was comfortable, but wobbly on the edge, so I had to be careful not to fall out of bed. Internet connection was fine before 7 pm, but was very slow or absent after 7 pm. Elegant but extremely uncomfortable chair at the desk Connection to and from airport is problematic. The hotel told me on the phone 25 min walk, but I took 1 hour, as all airport side exits are fenced out to increase security, so you end up walking all the way round without proper pavement at your own risk. Hotel taxi service only available at night. My colleague during the day asked airport taxi driver to take him to hotel, but the driver refused saying the hotel was too close to the airport. Indeed, but it is too far away by foot! Breakfast was ok, with toast, cereal, egg and bacon, but space was extremely limited, so that only one person fitted in the buffet area at one time. The table space was also extremely small. Every day the type of bread for the toaster would change, so sometimes it would burn, sometimes it would be fine. Upon booking, I paid more to have the breakfast included, but I then found out that the waitresses never asked for the room number nor name, so it was not necessary to pay extra for the breakfast. I asked the reception about this, and they told me the waitresses ask for the room number: that is not true! Very important problem was the absence of ventilation as bathroom suction not active. I tried the tissue paper test and did not stick at all to the vent hole. Due to small volume of room and total absence of air exchange, I would have headache and feel some nausea at night (quite possibly related to CO2 high concentration in the air: the room was 50m3 and contained 0.04% CO2 that is 1 mole of CO2, and I released approx. 10 moles of CO2 overnight, without air exchange that is an incredible amount of CO2 to breath in, in a small room. In the future, I shall travel with a CO2 reader. Notwithstanding it was cold outside I had to open window a few times per night. Thus, letting in mosquitos that would bother me every night. Apart from ants and mosquitos, I also had a big spider and a fly which kept ne "company" for the whole week. I would rename it the "echo friendly" hotel. I would be tempted to give one star, but would need to come back once more to make such a definitive decision. However, I would rather go elsewhere next time!
Restaurant is really making your stay a good experience, and service of taxi to the airport is very efficient, except it comes for a price after peak hours. Room was smelly and customers quite loud at the bar.
The hotel is located in an industrial area in the outskirts of Bruxelles Charleroi airport. Once I landed at Charleroi, I called them in order to send me their shuttle to pick me up, and I had to wait 40 MINUTES even if the hotel is at 2-3 km... I called 3 times and they kept telling me the shuttle will arrive in 5 minutes.... Rooms are pretty small but clean and well equipped, wi-fi is OK, breakfast is OK (10 Euros per person), bar absolutely overpriced: I had to pay 6,5 Euros for a 1 liter bottle of water because the mini fridge inside the room had just a 1/2 liter water bottle inside. The restaurant closes at 9:30 pm so no way to eat something because I arrived at 11 pm.
I spent two nights in this hotel due to the location for business meetings as it is fairly close to Charleroi airport. The hotel is located in an industrial area next to a massive Caterpillar plant and a car is needed to get around as local amenities are not close. I ended up in new block in a decent sized room with a workspace, fridge etc but air con wasn't working so I left window open as it was really warm and humid during evening. As a result I was bitten by insects many times during the night and was left with with many large, itchy bites looking like elephant man. So keep windows closed. Restaurant was ok but menu was limited and took an eternity to serve. Self service breakfast was just ok. Staff seemed miserable but perhaps it's just the dry Belgian way.
I would like to describe just my point of view. I don't like to write stories like this, but as I alone work in customer service area and I studied management..I just cannot stay calm and I will let everybody know How it works here. This hotel Best Western Aero 44 is not even the standard We meight be used to experience in other BW hotels. It is a simple 3 star hotel close to the airport Charleroi. The Rooms in old building are renovated, stinky, small , tiny and the bathroom- veeery small - really one night stay is ok, not more. You might consider A/C as benefit. In the new building there are so called apartments with small kitchen and bigger bathroom and there is also a sofa in front of tv. But you pay a bit more. As I work as crew the company pays this hotel because it is close to airport, so the aim of my stay is business. But I usually stay for 2 weeks and afterwards I will comeback, so I will come back for couple of months during 2017. The restaurant may offer a tasty dishes but on the other hand the order take them sometimes more than an hour and it comes with a feel of unwelcome smile. The reception is also not really helpful - some of them (very nice and kind) are new (what I fully understand) but they cannot 100% help you.. and than you talk to "so called" manager - a women who is smiling at you of course "friendly" and just maybe she will answer your questions..but don't do it!! believe me IT DOES DISTURB her when people are asking something- she complains afterwards as we are disturbing her! It was not only me asking for advice..or any possible change. Even If you just kindly asks something, maybe even twice or three times - I recommend NOT to do it. On my previous stay We had also a serious problem as they accommodated us in rooms which were lately painted and the smell of chemicals was terrible and intolerable- and she looked at my face and said: they were painted lately but it s ok now..and as I asked one of the receptionist If he/she will pay a night in such a room she/he answered NO! ..but the "manager" lady did not mention that couple of days ago she argued with other colleagues of mine about the same and they had to menace with criminal report if they will not change their rooms. At the beginning of the contract couple of weeks ago "the manager" lady said the gym will be ready in one month as they have just started to build it from 2 rooms in the ground floor. Since beginning of may nothing has changed..I've seen it yesterday - It looks still after a bomb attack and she said : it takes a month to finish AS THEY NEED TO order the equipment 😄😄😄 I guess they will finish once we will be done with our Business in Brussels. And there is no place to do your exercise, you can go for a run around the airport via highway!It is really disturbing If you have to stay here longer, there are no facilities around and the staff is so unfriendly. After evaluation of all mentioned facts this is not "guest friendly" behavior and If I have the choice I would have leave ASAP! I must mention that there are also a few very nice staff - cleaning ladies, breakfast and some receptionists. And there were more occasions like this which I will rather not mention just be aware of "mock" persons in this hotel! And my advice, if you have other choice rather choose another hotel.
