Courtyard by Marriott Düsseldorf Hafen4.0 out of 5.0

We stayed here three nights for a wedding in early June. The rooms were clean, well featured and well priced. Problem occurred after our first night. My GF took $15 USD out of her purse and put it in her backpack as we weren't going to need it there. Upon returning to the room after lunch to get ready for the wedding, we noticed that the money was no longer in there. Upon further investigation she also discovered her other wallet (deep in her suitcase) had been emptied of some Japanese coins. Who the heck risk there job for ~$17 worth of foreign currency?! We alerted the staff to the issue, and while they were friendly they weren't terribly helpful. They pulled the door log for us, but couldn't give us any sort of reassurance that the same people wouldn't have access to our room. Thus we had to ask for maid service to be discontinued for the rest of our stay and it obviously soured the mood for the rest of the trip. The amount stolen wasn't really that high (there had been more valuable things left in the room) but one feels utterly violated when you see evidence of the staff digging through your bags. Would not recommend.
We spent one night in the Courtyard Marriott Düsseldorf Hafen from the 25th of March to the 26th of March. On the 26th we left our room in the morning before we officially checked out to enjoy one last walk around the Medienhafen. We took our luggage with us in order to leave it in our car. We only let a few shopping bags with presents, which we bought the day before in the room in front of the bed as we could not carry them as well. When we came back to our room our shopping bags were not there any longer. We addressed the reception staff with the incident, however they were not really helpful. We put a lot of pressure on them in order to get back our things and had a long discussion about the incident. We left the hotel without our shopping bags and very angry. In the late afternoon of the 26th of March we received a call from the hotel and they told us that they found our shopping bags behind the curtains. As if we would put our shopping bags behind the curtains. It seems that the reception put some pressure on its staff and the thief came forward with our bags. The hotel did not apologize for the incident even though such an incident is an absolute NO GO. So be careful when you leave your things in the room. This was our first and last stay in that hotel!!!
This is your typical Courtyard located in the up and coming Hafen area. Easy walking distance to many restaurants and shopping. Konigsallee is ony a 20 minute walk from here. Nice rooms with a view. Breakfast is 19EU, a bit high priced. Beware! Due to construction in the area, parking is an issue. There is a garage a 5 minute walk away but it is 15EU per day.
Stayed here recently for 5 nights. Room was very nice, decorated to a high standard and kept very clean. Our room was on the top floor with a lovely view of the harbour and surrounding area. Staff were pleasant and helpful with any queries. There are lots of restaurants etc in the surrounding area. Also a very pleasant walk to the old town. WiFi access was satisfactory but we found the pricing a bit confusing. It is advertised as free but info in the room gives a range of options and costs. It gave a daily access option which we used(this was free). Overall we enjoyed our visit to Dusseldorf and would recommend this hotel to others.
Beautiful Hotel, perfect place to travel around only 300m to nearest tram stop. The staff in this hotel were always available to help. Gym and sauna open 24 hours. Could not fault this hotel at all spotless everywhere.. Will be back soon again for a river view room!
Friendly helpful staff, nice modern rooms with very confortable bed (greater than usual) and grat view fron the 4th floor. great location in the media harbour in Düsseldorf. all together for a very reasonable price. and, last but not least, a restaurant with good food and drinks. breakfast have a lot of choices with a la minute egg station .
From what we saw of the hotel, in particular our room, it seemed almost new. Our room had a nice view over the harbour, and across the water we could see the futuristic Rheinturm building. It's not in the centre of town but the 707 tram goes from the bottom of the street (Speditionstrasse) to Dusseldorf's main railway station and shopping area. Overall it was a very comfortable hotel, and good value.
There were weird things. No body lotion in the room It was cold and we needed cream for the face. I had to go twice to front desk and the lady there was upset with us assuring ITWAS body lotion in the room. One day no bottled water in the room I called front desk and they invited me to go to the convenient store of the hotel to buy one... On the other hand there were some people very dedicated and friendly in the breakfast and even in the front desk.
Marriott are all about the same worldwide... but this one is greatly located, the rooms are spacious and modern and those on the harbour have a great harbour/skyline view; the service is top..and the restaurant, although rather sad from a deco point of view is OK; breakfast is very good. I will surely return.
Though a standardised Marriott Courtyard hotel (i.e. about the same worldwide)... the place is greatly located, the rooms are really nice (especially those with a harbour/skyline view); service is top..and restaurant, although not really appealing from a deco point of view, more than correct; breakfast is very good. I will return.
