We enjoyed our 3 night stay in Carlton Square hotel. The room we reserved (executive room) was large with a king bed. the mattress too soft to my taste. A small but important issue: The Shades of the large window facing east let some direct sunlight penetrate straight to your eye early in the morning - to those who are sensitive to that issue. The hotel is quite central located 10-15 minutes walk from the Grote Markt (center of the old city). If you want to grab a snack in the evening it has quite a nice restaurant in the hotel itself. It's nice that the minibar is free. The staff were very polite and friendly. A bit too "pricy" (about 200 Euro per night) - but it's all about timing and I had no choice... Buffet breakfast was very nice. Generally - a nice hotel!
Stayed for 3 nights and truly enjoyed it. There were only two issues or inconveniences during our stay in this comfortable hotel: 1.Hotel is a 20 minute walk to Haarlem Central train station; a bit far especially on hot days and when in possession of luggage. It is possible to take a bus #3 to hotel/near hotel from outside train station but they cost over 3 euros. We bought the 3 day regional travel ticket; which allows us to travel outside Amsterdam; for example Haarlem. We were not aware this travel ticket did not cover most local buses in Haarlem; other than #80, which goes to Amsterdam. However, the walk can be very enjoyable in the evenings and without luggage. 2.Shower water pressure was very low on our second night Upon arriving in our room, we immediately noticed how clean it was, how comfortable it felt, and how quiet it was... just great. A comfortable bed, nice pillows, seating area, free coffee, tea, water, plenty of towels and pillows, spacious room, small balcony, view of beautiful green trees, toiletries, clean bathroom, clean closet, flat screen tv, and that quietness; it was all good. Also customer service was accurate and polite. Haarlem's main square is about a 7-10 minutes walk from hotel. Frederikspark is a gorgeous park across hotel, offering many hiking/walking trails, lots of trees, and wildlife. Overall, reserving a room in this hotel, was one of the best decisions we made in our trip to Holland; I highly recommend. Hotel has a restaurant and breakfast costs 15 euros per person Taxes are not included in reservation price, we payed 19.70 euros for 3 nights Excellent internet connection in room.
Easy access to town centre and 15min walk to railway station. Could not fault the hotel or staff. Wide choice of breakfast dishes, dinner and bar. Parking in adjacent car park, connected to hotel at lower level, with lift access.
We had a lovely 2 night stay here during the end of April. All staff we encountered was extremely helpful from telling me about the keukenhof combined ticket to renting out the quality bikes they have in sight. I slept like a dream in the super comfortable king size bed. Breakfast had a huge selection. I think we booked the cheapest room available, but it was still a nice size. I would recommend going the next level up for a better view and free use of the mini fridge. The town of Haarlem is super cute and much more manageable if you're looking for something smaller and quieter than Amsterdam. We were able to take a nice bike ride directly from the hotel to the dunes and some of the tulip fields without having to deal with the city traffic which is exactly what we were looking for. There are us stops right around the corner to get to keukenhof or the train station.
Haarlem is delightful and a nice alternative to staying in Amsterdam. Our time at Carlton Square was comfortable. Excellent breakfast buffet with custom omelets and espresso just as we liked it. Our room was an upgrade that included breakfast, robes and free minibar. The hotel is a short walk across a canal to the Franz Hals Museum. We took a cab the next day to the Teyler Museum and the canal cruise that were both worthwhile. The cobblestone center of town was charming. We had excellent food and service at Wilma and Albert across from the cathedral but I am glad our hotel was a little distance from the old town.
The rooms are spacious, well-appointed and comfortable. The bathroom was spotless and the drench-head shower was ideal. The hairdryer was not particularly powerful, but that would be my only criticism. The hotel itself is very clean and quiet, in a great location and all the staff I encountered were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was generous and very tasty, with a well-stocked buffet including hot food (scrambled or boiled eggs, bacon, sausage, etc), fresh pastries, delicious freshly baked breads and rolls, fruits, cheese and cold meats/smoked salmon, with a range of juices and coffee/tea. During our two-night stay we dined both nights in the hotel restaurant, and we all enjoyed the variety of dishes on offer - the waiting staff were attentive, happy to chat and explain dishes or provenance of cheeses, etc. I very much hope to come back!
Hotel overlooks a park & getting to town Centrum couldn't be easier - turn right out of front door, turn right into main road & walk in a straight line ! Room allocated as requested in advance - top floor at front. Plenty of space in room - separate shower cubicle in bathroom if you prefer shower to bath. There's a library in the Bar / Dining area with books turned the wrong way round : the corner where the library is was considered somewhat dark hence the idea of turning the books round! Staff all speak brilliant English & are charming & polite. Breakfast buffet a bit pricey @ 18 euros but people made the most of the hot & cold items available - many made frequent visits to top up their plates with bread, fruit etc. ! Check out at mid day is good so you don't have to rush & you can check in for your flight at a computer tucked away in the Bar area - Reception staff will print your boarding pass. Equip yourself with a town map & you're good to go - you can walk everywhere ~ no need for buses or taxis. Didn't have dinner in Hotel as there are so many restaurants to choose from in town. Most enjoyable stay we've had in years.
Very spacious room and walk in shower. Modern furniture and super comfy bed. 5 min walk to city centre and Olympia Haarlem softball and football facilities. Very nice area with park just opposite hotel. Delicious breakfast and very good food available in hotel restaurant. 15 train ride to Amsterdam. Will definitely go there again if I am back in Haarlem.
Nice hotel and nice town if you want a change from Amsterdam. We were there for one night before traveling further in Europe. Easy to get to from the airport by car and parking is available directly under the hotel (paid but so convenient). Clean, quiet and helpful staff. Definitely recommend.
Good sized room with large comfy bed.Every member of the staff has been very friendly and helpful. Always with a smile and time to talk to you. Location is very good only 15 minutes walk to the number 300 bus to the airport and a couple of minutes to the number 50 Bus to Keukenhof. Short walk to town. Had one dinner in Restaurant Zocher which was nice. We opted to have our breakfast in town , as we found the price of Eur 18.50 pp for breakfast to be too high ..... We liked our stay in this Hotel, the friendly and cheerful staff, the clean room and the perfect location . For sure we would return to this great Hotel and the nice town of Haarlem!!
