Location great, the whole hotel was clean & friendly service. Only 10 minutes walk from train station. 15 min by train to Amsterdam. The value with travelling to Amsterdam was 5/5. Haarlem is a nice city with interesting shopping possibilities. Fully recommended.
We had a junior suite, which was very large. Also big bathroom with seperate shower and a huge bubble bath. The location was great. Very central, but still in a quiet street. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast not fantastic, but perfectly ok.
Room clean and very good service. Noisy at night and smelly due to the room window above the kitchen exhaust fan. Excellent location for the hotel in downtown Haarlem and very helpful personal with city directions and return trip to Schipol airport.
We loved the location and the room. The rooms are fantastic. However, the hotel was under construction. I read a review about construction starting early in the morning and I asked the front desk about it. They said the construction work wouldn't start until 9 am. That was so untrue. Construction was alive and well at 7 am. They offered to move us which was nice and the first room they take us to is right beside the construction. lol Anyway......as long as there is no construction it's a great hotel.
Room was very clean and nice. Staff was so helpful and spoke good English. Hotel was comfortable and close to the market square for entertainment and many different types of restaurants and cafes. You must stop at The Barista for lunch while strolling down the main shopping street in Haarlem. Canal was close to walk along with a windmill to explore. Biking and walking thru the city was easy. People are extremely pleasant and helpful. Perfect town to stay in to avoid the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam. Thrill Burger is just around the corner and delicious. Love, Love, Love this hotel and Haarlem. 15 min by train from Schipol airport. Simple travel by train.
Great hotel but if your a light sleeper forget it as the bells from the church ring 24 hours a day but could not fault the hotel so not the hotels fault but I most not be the first person to complain about them
Couldn't be more central! Staff very good and can answer all your questions. You can also rent bikes here. Rooms are great, with everything you need. We didn't include breakfast as we chose to meander and eat locally. 40 minutes from Schipol on 300 bus for €5. Stops at train station which is a 10 minute walk.
Amrath hotel in Haarlem is a very Well central located place to stay. Perfect in Haarlem due to good train connections to visit other cities like Amsterdam or Rotterdam because of its proximity. The hotel itself in Haarlem is very nice, rooms are very confortable and clean. But if you are traveling with family make sure in advance that you book more than a room because this hotel has a very peculiar rule which states that in a doble room, suite and Junior suite, and any other room, there can be maximum of three people. In our case we are 4 people family with small children of 5 and 8 years old and that means that even if you have a 5 years old kid in a suite we couldn't stay the four of us. So we had to rebook two doble rooms and the kids had to be on their own. Even though time there was great!
After reading others reviews regarding the Amrath Grand Frans Hals decided to spend 4 nights there on our first trip to the Netherlands. Not disappointed. Hotel lovely and clean, staff very helpful and friendly, gave us maps and advice re restaurants etc. The hotel is central and very convenient for exploring Haarlem and traveling further afield as it is 10 - 15 mins walk to bus/train station where both run regularly/frequently to Amsterdam and the airport. Bus number 300 costs 5 euro's and takes approx 40 mins to Schipol, if you take the train you need to change and it is more expensive. Loved our time in Haarlem, it was just too short to explore everything we wanted to. Heineken experience, Haarlem canal cruise & Zans Schaan are well worth visiting, just make sure you take plenty money as compared to the UK it is expensive.
Hotel is difficult to find at first as you cannot see it from a road on which cars are allowed. However, the parking garage is visible and opens up immediately adjacent to the hotel entrance. So after the first encounter, it actually is easy, and is in the middle of the main attractions and pedestrian and bicycle area. Great location. Hotel is a little sterile, but staff is very helpful when asked. Breakfast is varied and pretty good.
