We really enjoyed our week long staff at the Amrath Grand Hotel in Haarlem. It is literally around the corner from the Grote Kerk, Teylers Museum and any number of excellent restaurants. The property is lovely, with a true high end city hotel feel. Staff was attentive and helpful, breakfast was very good in a nice dining room. Parking at Applegaar was immediately adjacent to the hotel, couldn’t be more convenient. I look forward to returning someday to the Netherlands and will definitely return here or consider another Amrath property - highly recommend!
In short: bed seemed not to have a mattress, you basically sink in. A/C produced an unbearable noice. Hard even to watch tv or listen to music. I recorded it to show it to my friends. WiFi speed really poor. Vanity kit when I opened it, it was empty. ????
Great location. The front desk service was exceptional! This hotel is in a great part of town. So easy to walk around. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. So many great restaurants and bars closely. The train station is an easy walk and convenient to all destinations.
Front desk staff, especially the young man (can't quite recall name), was incredibly cheerful and helpful. Hotel in perfect location. Room was situated off the street, so quiet, but still with plenty of daylight.
What a beautiful hotel, our room in large (no view), but clean and spacious. Air conditioning actually works! Reception Staff very friendly and happy to help with whatever you ask of them! Stunning area. Close to everything. The only down side is that they don't have their own restaurant for room service, however, they use next door which is ok.
The location was wonderful, right off the main square. The staff was helpful, especially upon check in and spoke excellent English - I wish Americans could speak as many languages fluently as the average European! The bed was very comfortable, the room was well furnished, and the bathroom very clean. I would certainly stay here again.
We were pleased with our choice of this hotel and were glad to return here after day tripping around the area. Nice atmosphere in the area, and not too noisy. Pros: -quick 10 minute walk to the station -close to variety of places to eat as well as Haarlem's attractions -large rooms (by European standards) -great wifi (which didn't log you out each day) -great showers (good soap/shampoo - no conditioner) -super housekeeping -nice to have a kettle in the room with tea/coffee; apples for a snack in hall -filtered water for drinking in hall -pleasant staff Cons: -the only thing I didn't like was that a block was put on my credit card for 100 euros "in case I used the minibar." I've never heard of that - seems absurd.
This hotel location was fabulous! I was so pleased with the convenience to the train station (10 min walk), shopping and restaurants. It's steps away from the old church and Grote Market and in a safe area. Haarlem was a beautiful, quaint, Dutch city and I am glad I stayed there versus Amsterdam; there were less crowds and it felt less commercialized. The room at the hotel was a nice size, spacious for a European hotel. The bathroom was large and modern. The hotel was fairly quiet, except for King's Day, but that's to be expected! The front desk associates were very helpful with directions, recommendations and bus/train information. I did not have breakfast at the hotel, as it was an additional 18 Euros per day. I went to the Albert Heijn and bought some breakfast foods instead. The train to Amsterdam leaves from the station about every 10 minutes and is about a 15 - 20 minute train ride to Amsterdam Centraal. From Haarlem to Schipol, you have to change trains, so I chose to take the bus to the airport (bus 300) for 6 Euros, and it departs every 10 minutes from near Hudson Bay, which is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. I would absolutely stay at this hotel again.
Stayed for 4 nights. Good size room with a great bathroom. Nice and clean. Breakfast was good, but the staff was a bit slow to refill. The location was great, near the city center and shopping street. Loads of small resturants and pubs in the area. Ten minutes walk from train- and bus station.
Å beautiful hotel, great location and a great service. 10 out of 10 from is. Near Amsterdam, 15 minutes with train. Near Centrum og Haarlem. Just love this hotel. Good breakfast and a real good restaurant om the hotel.
