6 in a roo, upper bunks for 60 y/o not so good, requested a change of rooms- staff not very helpful

I'm not a hostel type of person (no pun intended), this was my first experience staying in one so I can't compare it to others. My first impression was trying to arrange a late check-in, when I arrived in town I headedover to the hostel to see if I could check-in a bit early however they were closed with a sign on the door stating their open hours. Unfortunately during the posted hours I wouldn't be able to return so I called the number on the sign to arrange a late check-in. Generally this wouldn't be a big deal but the lodging company couldn't find my reservation. It took about 30 minutes, two people and a couple of phone calls but they did eventually find my information. Everyone I spoke to were very nice but it was a bit of a pain to deal with. Everything was clean and the common area, kitchen and restrooms were large, with modern fixtures (at least the bathroom) and comfortable. I had a private room with a queen bed. The bed was comfortable but the room itself was very drab and depressing with a very old and outdated desk and nightstands, a cheap freaky painting of a dog that looked like a kid's art project and nothing else. It's was pretty depressing. I found not having a sink, air conditioner or private bath a major inconvenience but in the end it's just that, an inconvenience because it's something I'm not use to. It you enjoy hostels then I imagine this is a pretty good one but I think the price is a bit much for what is (or isn't) offered.

1st, the rooms facing the gas station near by are built over a vent which runs 24/7. Kind of like trying to sleep in an airplane, you hear the roaming of the engines, but you are not going anywhere. 2nd, the vent is blowing hor air, so in the rooms just above (like 211 or 210) the temperature is over 80° F. Thirdly, there is a wash-o-matic on the fisrt floor which opens from 8 to 8. The clothes spinner is so powerful that you feel the vibrations. Other than that, the Hostel is walking distance from the hear of downtown. I would recommend that place as long you secure a room which is not facing the Gas Station, and Second Floor!

I thought I booked a hotel but by mistake booked this hostel. First time hostel experience was pretty awful. Was very tired after 12 miles hike from Aspen; and the hostel experience made the headache much worse. Didn't know what to expect-- simply shocked with dismay. When we arrived at the hostel around 5:30PM, we were handed keys to a very dirty used room. The beds were not fixed; saw really filthy pillows without cases and beds without sheets. Management had no idea that room was not cleaned -- we had to take pictures to prove that the room needed to be cleaned and fixed. One staff was pretty nice and apologized for their mistake when she came to fix the room. She brought towels and soap bars, but was too late as I had taken shower in a shared bathroom with a leftover piece of soap.

At check in, the lady at the front desk Requested $65 for a cleaning fee. She didn't know if it was refundable. We left the place as clean as we found it, took out the garbage and brought the sheets down to the laundry as was requested. It is now monday and after two phone calls the situation is not only not resolved, but still havent recieved any answer to my messages. The carpets were dirty, the shades on most of the windows were broken, and the blankets on the beds have never been washed. I would never stay here again!

It is noisy at night. Room is very small but clean.

The rooms were simple and clean, and we appreciated the full kitchen downstairs. Friendly staff, great weekend getaway!

We were on the top floor and so there were no noises being in the upper level. I was told that people in the lower level did hear a lot of noise. Our apartment was great. Put together very well.

Orbitz screwed up my reservation and overbooked my room at the hostel. Orbitz did not attempt to contact me before I arrived despite making the reservation one month in advance. Orbitz did not apologize for their mistake or offer a refund. Fortunately, the hostel worked with me and made up for Orbitz's mistake. I would definitely stay at the hostel, but I will never use Orbitz ever again. Book directly through the hostel instead.

Hi, Thanks for your feedback and sorry to hear about your difficulties. The 6 person room is our largest option and it has a queen bed and two twin bunks. Unfortunately there is no option at the hostel for 6 people that does not incorporate bunks. I apologize if the staff did not communicate this when you asked to move rooms. When you booked your reservation the room description would have listed the bunk beds in the configuration.
