This was our 4th year in a row to this fantastic hotel. Yet again cannot fault a thing. We stayed in a premier room (323). Room, grounds, pools, beach, staff, breakfast all fantastic. I was stunned to see a review stating the 'Breakfast was limited', there is so much variety and I can honestly say, there is so much choice that you could literally have a different breakfast every day and we were there for 13 nights. Loved the addition of waffle, pancake & crepes station that were cooked to order. The staff at this hotel are brilliant, loved talking to them and interacting with them and they cannot do enough to make your holiday more enjoyable. I think you get back what you put in and was disappointed to see some other guests that were quite rude to the staff. There are so many staff to name and I'm sorry I don't have all their names, the front desk staff were all fab and a special mention to Sugar (we had a fab chat at the cocktail event with her), Nan, Bau, I, Ami, Pla, Boon, Tip and to be honest all the staff here are great and are a testament to why we return year after year. We will be returning and look forward to our home from home. Lovely touch was a complementary bottle of bubbly and some food as return guests and also a massive thank you to Pla for arranging flowers from us for our friends birthday that were all ready at breakfast on the morning of our friends birthday. This hotel is a real mesmerizing place full of charm and a delight to stay at.
The resort itself is quite beautifully decorated and well maintained. The breakfast was good with lots of options. Enjoyed the pools and the beach is very nice with the beach bar. The staff were all very helpful and there was a lovely gentleman who can help you organise tours and transport as needed. A good amount of surrounding restaurants and shops and also on a busy enough road to be able to get public transport without waiting for ages. Also offers a shuttle to Chaweng which we found quite useful (free for certain parts of the day and a small fee for evening times etc) Main downside is the rooms are a bit outdated although they are a very good size and the AC worked great. Our biggest disappointment was the bathroom. The bathrooms really need refurbishment, they look quite old and we had terrible showers our whole stay. Initially a problem with temperature and pressure, they sent someone to fix this but the temperature of the shower remained temperamental - hot then suddenly lukewarm whilst you showered. We were eventually moved rooms on our final but the shower wasn't much better in this new room. Appreciated the efforts in attempting to resolve it but our showers were terrible the whole stay throughout and apart from sending someone to try fix it daily, we didn't really get much more to compensate for this inconvenience.
We stayed in Thailand for a month in may. We'd been overwhelmed by what our travel budget had enabled us to afford, so we're really looking forward to what would be on offer here as we had "splashed out" and spent nearly twice as much as we had done on other hotels. (2 of which were also on Ko Samui and were of a much higher standard) The decor was dated in the rooms, and we found it was not as clean as other hotels. The size was good, but it felt like it needed updating! The external doors had gaps between the door and the door frames which encouraged lots of midges and other insects into the room. We found this a constant problem, and despite using the air con throughout the day and even putting towels at the bottom of the doors to block the gaps, we regularly woke up bitten! There is a lot of stagnant water around the hotel, which, whilst creating an idyllic setting, we think probably enhanced the problem. And as the maids cleaned the room, the doors were left open too. Whilst the hotel seemed aware of the problem, it seemed like more could be done! We understand that they can't get rid of the insects completely, but would expect more to be done to avoid them being in the rooms! We ate at the restaurant and found the food to be really good! There was a mixture of western and Thai food. All cooked to a really high standard. They had 50% discount on a Friday which was really handy. There are a number of restaurants on the beach within walking distance. Overall, a lovely location, but I'd not recommend the hotel!
Just returned home from a great stay at this resort. We are a family of 4 and had 2 premier rooms - we loved our rooms - lovely big bath - nice balcony overlooking beautiful tropical gardens. I don't understand previous reviews about limited breakfast - what more do people need ? All choice of eggs , cereals , fruit , pancakes as well as catering for Chinese & Thai. All the staff constantly have smiles & so wonderful with the children . The kids loved the big pool & as it's right on the beach , it's perfect for families . Beautiful beach .... we loved the Thai charm of this hotel. Will definitely return !!!
Stayed here with family & friends. |Friendly welcome from staff on arrival and shown to out poolside terrace room very promptly. Although the room was very tired (a common theme throughout the hotel), it had everything we needed. Room was cleaned daily, though not always to a great standard. Breakfast was very basic and not to the standard we usually expect when travelling. However, there was always something to suit. The grounds were immaculately kept, with the gardeners out every day trimming something or other!. The quiet pool (monkey pool) was where we spent most of out time as the larger pool by the beach was always over-run with children and a bit noisy. Lovely beach with a sprinkling of bars along it. Not sure I would return to this hotel unless it was extensively refurbished and they sorted out the breakfast menu.
We stayed at this place for 6 nights. On arrival we were impressed with the service and the outside grounds of the hotel. The pool is lovely and the access to the beach is great. However..... We had non stop problems with the rooms and ended up changing rooms 3 times in one stay. Our first room was superior room on the ground floor. On arrival I looked for somewhere to charge my phone and could not find a single accessible plug socket, without unplugging one of two lamps, which were the only light in an already dark room. Then I went to make a coffee, there is nowhere to plug the kettle without it being on the floor. We were supplied with an extension cable after complaining. Later on we discovered our shower was faulty, either extremely hot or cold with almost no pressure. We complained again and moved to a different superior room.... The next room had the same issue with the shower but we couldn't be bothered to move again. However when we woke thr next morning to go on a arranged trip, we discovered there was no electricity in the room, we were told it would be 3 hours before it was fixed. We had to move rooms (to the other side of the hotel) temporarily to use electricity. We only had 45 mins to get ready for our trip. The next morning I woke at 4am sweating, I realised the air conditioning had stopped working over night. Therefore we complained again and asked for a partial refund for all the problems we were having. We were told they could not refund us, we could either move rooms again or have a massage token. We wanted neither, as we were fed up of moving rooms and as I have an injury I can't have massages. We were told that was our only two options, so we reluctantly accepted a new upgraded room... The shower in the upgraded room was better, but the bed was rock hard, and almost impossible to sleep on, and I usually like hard beds. The taps were also leaking but we gave up complaining as we just wanted to enjoy our holiday. All of the rooms are outdated, and desperately need renovating. The management in thr hotel were very unhelpful with our complaints. However the staff throughout the hotel are very friendly and willing to help. We spoke to another guest who said the resort was nice 10 years ago but has been in decline since. Nice area for a hotel but we would not come back to Imperial boat house, there will be much better 4* hotels.
The hotel is ok , if you don't have a lot of expectations. It's about a 3 star hotel quality in North America standards but the beach is super nice. Don't have a manicure or pedicure here , old and questionable looking tools and cheap / poor quality nail polishes... Horrible results ! I asked them to use my own nail filer bit didn't have any polish , and it was terrible. Also don't eat at the restaurant , we thought %50 discount for first night would be cheaper and I admit taste was ok but they didn't bring the full fish as they advertised and instead a small fillet came which wasn't enough... And when you calculate per gr even after the discount it ended up being double the market value ! staff is friendly, place is clean, rooms are in regular size. Oh also , don't bother booking poolside apartments with extra , that's not the main pool and you still have to walk for a while to the beach or the main pool so don't waste your money.
A very nice hotel between 3+ and 4 star grade for peace and quiet holiday. Staff are courteous and friendly. We stayed on a B&B basis on a pool view room. The room is clean and very comfortable. Internet connection wi-fi is of reasonable strength throughout. Daily maid cleaning in the room, well maintained pool and the beach restaurant served reasonable quality food at good prices. Swimming pool is unique and beautiful-it is a boat! Beach is beautiful and a nice cove/bay which is public. Breakfast was basic and limited - tasted much better elsewhere in Thailand. On the poolside they do massage - very good value for money and brilliant massage. Try the spa if you want more but will cost a lot more. Negatives: LCD tv in the room had poor quality screen and could do with an upgrade. Only BBC and no Sky or CNN channels. There was NO entertainments at night and the main restaurant where breakfast served is closed at night. Not a lot for kids at the resort but certainly none at all for teenagers. Recommendations: renting a car or scooter is a must. Local restaurants are cheap and good for dining. If you fancy night out then a trip to Chaweng Beach is a must - try out Ark Bar
We spent 10 days here. For the first couple of days it rained heavily and there wasn't much to do inside when rain is common in the area. However the pools were still usable. Can't blame hotel for weather. However, we did have a leak in our bathroom ceiling which they fixed pretty quickly. Staff and food was good and very reasonable when compared to restaurant prices in neighbouring Chaweng Beach. But nowhere near as cheap or good as some of the local restaurants.
We stayed at this hotel for three weeks in April. In all we enjoyed our stay here. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the gardens are kept immaculate and were a delight to walk through on the way to the beach. Breakfast had a good choice of food and there was a chef cooking eggs anyway you wanted them. The beach bar happy hour was a perfect end to a day on the beach before getting ready for the evening. Would we return, yes without doubt. However, when we arrived our room was not ready at noon, and we were told to return at 2pm. On our return we were shown to the boat suite. However on being there a short time I realised it was not as we had expected. Having checked the boat suites online they were two story with the lounge upstairs with doors leading directly to the sun deck, the bedroom and bathroom downstairs. The suite we were allocated was on one lower level with a bedroom one side, and to get to the lounge you went outside across a passage to the lounge, the sun deck was reached by coming out of the suite and up stairs, not directly accessible from inside. I returned to the reception and asked for the Manager and said I would like a two storey suite. We were allocated a two storey immediately, which we were happier with. It was two storey and the furnishings were good, however there were areas that needed attention. The bathroom wood around the bath was black with mould, the floor was worn, the lounge floor was in need of varnish and the decking too was worn. It was in need of refurbishment. I have attached photos. In the grounds there were several boat suites in a poor state and no longer capable of being used. Sad really as these are the most expensive rooms, and we cannot understand why the hotel have not renovated them. The beach had sufficient sun beds and we did get one regardless of the time we went, sometimes not until the afternoon. There are lots of sunbeds around the boat pool and I don't think you would ever struggle to find a sunbed. The towels obtained from the hotel were worn and did need replacing. Whilst I have given some negatives here, please be assured that we would unreservedly recommend this hotel.
