My girlfriend and I stayed here for nearly two weeks and have the following to report. FROM THE AIRPORT: The resort is located on the opposite side of the island from the airport. We advise that you arrange a shuttle ahead of time or be willing to take a shared minibus in order to avoid a 1500THB airport taxi fare. ACCOMMODATIONS: We stayed in one of the pool-view rooms on the second floor. The view isn't much but the covered deck offers a cool place to relax, eat, drink, or play. The bathroom is spacious and includes a shower and bathtub. The front entry has plenty of storage for luggage and clothing and includes a small safe and mini fridge. The bed was wonderful. Clean and firm mattress with soft pillow. The mattress and bedding smelled fresh. Also in the room is a large bench for working or eating and a TV set which we did not use. THE FOOD: Frankly the food is the only reason that we didn't feel this resort deserved a 5-star review. There is only one restaurant on site. The food is good, not great, and is very expensive! Because of the secluded location of this property you are forced to either pony up some serious cash for your meals or rent transportation to get out for each meal. We opted for the motorscooter and had a blast exploring other restaurants in the area. THE PROPERTY: There are two pools on site which are both wonderful. A large pool that separates the lower-cost rooms (great for laps), and a smaller pool with more of a sun lounging feel. The resort is beachside and has a nice clean beach area with free lounge chairs. The beach is very shallow (only knee deep for about 100 yards) and has very little surf/waves. The resort does offer massages but we didn't spring for them. THE LOCATION: If you've come to relax and want to pay to be pampered this is the place for you. But, if you are looking for adventure this may not be the spot. It's far from the touristy areas of Samui and driving times to those areas can be up to an hour each way. Much closer, however is the Na Muang Waterfalls which we definitely recommend visiting. Other than that this resort is far from almost any other public establishment or attraction. If you're seeking adventure or variety then a motor scooter is a must.
One of the best hotel's we have ever been! Rooms are nice, spacious and tidy. Wifi was good. We had access to the swimming pool which was totally worth of those extra €, pool was so nice! We spend a loads and loads of the time by the pool. Beach was not so suitable for swimming (too shallow) but still a pretty nice for a evening walk. Restaurant was ok (a bit expensive in Thailand's price range, two curry's and water ~15€) but the breakfast was by far the best we have ever eaten in SE-Asia (many many hotels), I highly recommend to take it as well (approx ~5€/per person). We usually dont like SE-Asia's hotel breakfast's (only white bread, jam etc not so nutricious), but there was also healthier options like whole weed bread, lettuce etc. Very very very impressed! There was also good little gym! Staff was very friendly. One minor con: This resort is far away from everywhere. It is also a good thing, but note that there is no restaurants in walking distance and I guess most of the guest's eat at resorts own restaurant in the evenings. Taxi is expensive and scooter is not so nice if you want to drink some beers or wine with you dinner. So if you book this hotel (recommend), prepare yourself for 100% relaxation and chilling mainly at the resort area.
It's that time of the year when I feel I miss Thailand and want to get back to the smiling faces atmosphere. For me, that feeling is best expressed by the hospitality at the hotel I am staying at. As before, I visited Koh Samui and returned to the one spot I cannot forget - Centra Coconut Beach Resort. Located on the quiet southern part of the island - it is the perfect getaway from the noisy tourism areas. Here I get it all - great food, amazing staff who is always willing to help with anything I might need and of course - it is easy to get to other parts of the island with the resort's shuttle service. Food is amazingly tasty (includes both Thai and international variety) and with two swimming pools and a SPA on property - there is nothing you more you might need. Just sit and relax
All staff is wonderful.centra by centara samui and Rank for restaurant manager its wery good. Love to stay in Samui and Centara Coconut is the best for me. Really appreciated all support from staffs and location was wonderful
Have just come back from our 3 weeks stay at this hotel, staying in the deluxe seaview villa. "Seroiusly" if we took any notice of the reviews on here we would never have booked it. Having stayed here it does not warrant the bad reviews. YES, it is remote, but but thats the beauty of it. This hotel is ideal for for people who wish to relax and chill out. There is facilities to get about if you wish. The management and staff are lovely, who do a brilliant job of trying to communucate with every nationality staying there. The breakfast is very good although the prices for further meals and drinks we did think was a little bit expensive as to other local places one being Cafe Am Sea, you must visit which is 2 minutes walk down the beach and the French Kiss whos prices are also a little expensive, but nice place There is no swim up bar, that looks like it's been closed awhile, there is no kayaks or bycicles either, but I think the manageress now is new and is trying her utmost to address these things. The tv in the room only shows thailand channels and BBC world news, but am sure the manageress will address this soon too. The 7-11 shop is roughly 30 minute walk each way, there is other little shops if you dont want to walk that far, but not as cheap as the 7-11. The beach does have a lot of seaweed and debris, but thats the tide and the staff and management continually try to keep it clean. All in all, i would not hesitate in returning back to this hotel, met some lovely people whilst there.
We got off to a disappointing start on our arrival as the room we usually stay in was being used by management much to our dismay. This is a great hotel and area if you want a quiet resort without all the loud music, bars and traffic as you find in Lamai and Chaweng, the hotel does offer a bus service to these towns everyday for a very reasonable cost compared to taxis and car hire. There were no Kayaks available for guests, these were very popular and for some reason have been removed. Other guests complained of the lack of international TV channels as the hotel had not subscribed to any movie or international channels which they used to have for guests on previous visits. We dont watch much TV and didnt affect us much. Internet has always been a problem at this resort, with the cuts in other services it was not surprising to find this was also operating on a shoestring. Although the hotel is in a quiet area there are shops and other restaurants within a kilometre walk to the resort so you can eat out and do shopping for food and drinks. Ferries to other islands operate a couple of hundred meters away so there are options for boat trips out to the other islands you can see from the beach. Bike and car hire should be done from Lamai or Chaweng were its considerably cheaper than the hotel option. Housekeeping is a bit hit and miss, sometimes your get a full service sometimes they forget stuff, towels, water etc there doesnt seem to be a set standard or supervision of the housekeepers.
We stayed here last week for 2 weeks and we loved it.it is a peaceful location with great views lovely staff the food is great the hotel is 25 min drive to lamai and 40 min to chaweng which are both lively places we are going back to the centra coconut beach next year great hotel
Ok so why are some reviewers complaining I don't get it - fantastic location right on beach and quiet - if you want a busy town then stay elsewhere or take the courtesy bus or taxi . Food was really tasty especially the Thai food loved the mango and sticky rice - must be the best value hotel on the Island - breakfast excellent as was the long swimming pool . Can't go wrong staying here for a few days believe me
Firstly let me set the tone of this review. If you do your research before booking this hotel you should know it is remote but in my view that was a huge bonus as it was quiet with no one hassling you every few minutes on the beach like in Lamai and Chaweng. I've visited Koh Samui 3 times in 12 years and this was by far the most enjoyable trip. I like peace and quiet but also do enjoy exploring the island. The remoteness of this hotel encouraged me to do this and it really made the holiday superb. People giving bad reviews clearly have not taken time to consider what they want from their stay. The hotel was hundreds of pounds cheaper than an equivalent in Lamai and so my partner and I hired a car for 12 days for 11,000 bhat giving us freedom to go out whenever we pleased. The hotel room was very comfortable and kept clean with excellent aircon. I accept the bathroom was a little dated but this is rustic Thailand, we paid £1050 each for 15 nights b n b and flights with Emirates so felt that this was excellent value. I've visted the maldives twice and other luxury locations but at 3-4 times the price so I felt what we got was excellent. i can cope with a dated bathroom for a saving of £4,000!!! The staff were extremely helpful even though their English wasn't brilliant we got by with no issues. The female general manager was professional and seemed driven to improve the hotel. She impressed me. The beach was cleaned every day, sometimes twice due to rubbish brought in by the tide. The sea itself was very shallow for hundreds of metres so good for people lacking in confidence in swimming or young children. The breakfast buffet was of a very good standard, with eggs anyway you wanted them, omlettes, some gorgeous thai cuisine, fruit, a vast selection of breads and yogurts, fruit infused water tea and coffee. The bacon was a little hit and miss as sometimes it was a bit fatty so I left it alone, but what I did eat was superb for the money we paid. We ate lunch twice and had thai food and burgers which were delicious. The spa provided good massages, the prices were higher than in Lamai but only by a few pounds per massage. The shuttle which runs to Lamai and Chaweng does so 3 times a day. It was 100 bhat return per person to Lamai i cant remeber the Chaweng rate as i had no wish to visit there again. The beach had a beautiful view of the islands opposite and it really felt like a last bastion of unspoilt, Koh Samui. I would most definitely return. My advice to anyone who likes peace and quiet, but doesn't want to be restricted is go to this hotel and hire a car from Samui P Sky Travel in Lamai. You'll still be quids in and have a much better experience as we explored the West and North coast which would have never happened if we had just booked a hotel in Lamai. There are some stray dogs on the beach but they are extremely friendly, clean and don't half appreciate a sausage smuggled out from breakfast. They will happily lie under you sun lounger for the day if you allow them or just leave you alone. It's a Buddist country so I feel it a poor show that people complain about stray dogs on the beach of which there were only 2 that came regularly. There is a small gym with good aircon, good tread mill, cross trainer and a bike plus a selection of weights up to 30lb if you are inclined to maintain fitness whilst away. It was hardly used so I managed to get in a 5 mile run nearly every day before breakfast which really put me in a positive frame of mind and eager for breakfast! If the price remains the same feel this is an excellent place to visit and I'd return with out any concerns.
We came to Samuel to attend a wedding party in Conrad and we stated in Deluxe Villa room for 3 nights. We tried to figure out the difference between Deluxe Villa and other room types, it seems that they are having the same size but Deluxe Villa is located near the beach and equipped with massage bathtub. The hotel is located in the south part of Koh Samui and it takes around 45 minutes and 600-800 baht by taxi to go to the city center (Central Festival). Scheduled shuttle bus service is also available which costs 50 to 100 baht to Chaweng/Lamai (refer to attached image for details). Good: Large room with king size and comfortable bed Helpful, polite and proactive staff Beside beach with nice swimming pool Deluxe Villa - quiet and sound-proof Bad: Bad wifi signal Old room facilities, lack of maintenance Distant location (no convenience store or restaurant nearby) A lot of worms in room and fries all over the hotel (especially the restaurant) Lack of amenities, e.g. toothbrush, lotion
