First off, unless you are fluent in Spanish this hotel is going to be a problem for you. With a rare exception nobody working there speaks English. We went with a large group and had three apartments. A bat entered one of the apartments necessitating a series of rabies shots for two members of our group. It took us three days to locate the rabies vaccine in Guadalajara. It made us realize this was very far off the beaten track and had we had a real medical emergency, I don’t know what we would have done. The night before we left, a bat appeared in another of our apartments. Bats are a problem at this hotel because apparently there is a problem with the way the chimneys are constructed (at least this is what we were told by an employee). On a positive note, the apartments are very large and spacious and the staff did their best to help us.
This hotel has beautiful, immaculately kept grounds. It’s huge, and you can walk around the place and view the architecture, which is something like a mixture of Aztec and Spanish. The staff was kind and helpful. Our rooms were large and well cleaned daily. The entrance is in on an unattractive street that looks like an alley, but don’t be fooled, it’s very nice inside. An advantage is that if you have a rental car (we didn’t) I believe you can park it inside the locked gates. We took taxis or Uber, which the front desk called for us. (If your Spanish is not good, and your taxi or Uber driver’s English is not good either, take a screenshot of the address and show it to the driver.) Breakfast buffet was in an open pavilion. It was good with many choices of fresh fruit and several flavors of yogurt to add to the usual breakfast things. I would go back, and do recommend the Danza Del Sol to friends.
Older hotel. Rustic, but adequate. We had a suite. TV only in living area. Not much for English TV. WiFi was available. Lovely, private patio. A few blocks from the malecon. Several cats wander the premises. Breakfast was included and was very good. Nice pool area. Service was good, however, only some staff spoke a bit of English.
Large property with lovely grounds, pool and kids play area. Not too near the town center (about 15 minute walk, not great in the dark) and taxis stop running at 8pm. Casa Linda is a nice restaurant and one of the few within walking distance. The rooms are huge - our one bedroom suite had a living room and full kitchen. But, the furnishings felt old. The room was clean but was showing its age. Lots of small but weird things. For example, you got the TV remote at check in, there was only one trash can in the entire suite, the towels were frayed, there was no extra blanket in the closet though nights can get cold, the towel rack was not within arms reach of the shower, the outlet nearest the bed didn’t work, etc. If you like cats you’ll enjoy the ones around the property. If you don’t like cats, you will hate their aggressive behavior at breakfast. On our first night we got serenaded by a screeching cat fight. The staff was nice but felt undermanned for such a large property. It wasn’t the worst but I’ll be trying a different place on my next visit.
This is a older property with apparently some history with resort-like setup. The rooms are large and rustic but if this is what you like you will be served. It was also relatively quiet but there didn't seem to be many customers. The pool area seems to be functional with games and a kids park. The pool water is cold though. They unfortunately don't have a gym. I did not have got water and the staff didn't speak English so I had to take a cold shower.
The size of our unit was great. The grounds and complimentary breakfast were also good. But we were charged for all 12 nights up front. We had NO water the first night. And 3 days/nights of no hot water. And the manager refused to give us ANY credit. Terrible customer service. Also, the hotel is run down and the rooms weren't cleaned well (sheets weren't changed and floors weren't washed during the entire stay).
This hotel is very dated and run down. There are no amenities really. Staff is lacking in English, breakfast is so-so and "villas" have no coffee or amenities like hair dryers, etc. Towels are ragged. There are no fans in the room and no air movement and it was very warm even when cool outside. We moved to another property owned by the same people and it was lovely - 180 degree turn. Wonderful restaurant in walking distance however - Yve's.
Quiet, relaxing, cozy areas inside and out. Great location. Ideal for groups all my family aver the weekend were 15. Nice mexican architecture. We spend in a yearly basis since 5 years ago a weekend in a family reunion.
This is our 3rd time to come here for a 2-day reunion with another couple. We rented a suite which is perfect for us. It is quite spacious. The pool is nice as is the breakfast. This is our favorite place to stay in Ajijic. We will be back.
We stayed for 10 days. It is a little west of the city but such a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the geounds. We had a great 1 bedroom villa with private patio. Great breakfasts and loved the Sunday buffet with live music. We recommend it to anyone that wants to spend some time in Ajijic. It is a little west of city centre but great restaurants are still so close. Great place to stay, large rooms and great place to call home while you are visiting Ajijic.
