our twice yearly visit to Groningen UNI from uk. Southend to Groningen flybe flight NO 9 bus then 200 yard walk so easy to hotel. Usual warm and well prepared welcome. take a Privilege room double 8th floor at the back hotel quiet and central to bar breakfast and reception.Room has good wifi uk tv channels( 5) and working facilities desk well heated with a/c hertz car hire just across roundabout if needed
Nice informal hotel with high service minded staff, I was feeling very welcome. The room was nothing exceptional, but sufficient, beds and tv were good. Near to the highway has a consequence that you hear some noise from the highway sleeping with the open window
Hotel room was fine, although small. Breakfast was very good. However, the customer service was atrocious! I arrived at the hotel at 2:30 in the afternoon on a Saturday after about 18 hours of traveling. Despite the fact that I had booked my room weeks in advance, I was told that my room was not ready and I needed to wait for about 30 min. A number of other travelers before and after me received the same information. However, shortly after I arrived, a large German tour group arrived. I ended up waiting 3 hours for my room, while *every* member of the tour group got their rooms before I did. The staff servicing the desk were clearly unprepared for the onslaught of arrivals and had no idea about how to keep track of people and inform them about the status of their rooms. One of the guests who arrived about the same time as I did had to suggest that the staff make a list of people waiting. Making a guest wait 3 hours for a room after international flights is unacceptable. Upon finally checking in, I told the staff that I would leave one day earlier than originally expected. That didn't seem to be a problem. However, when I did check out, the desk manager told me that she had to charge me for the extra night (that I was not staying in the hotel!) anyway because of the room rate I was given. With customer service like that, it's amazing that anyone stays here. Note that (at least for me) breakfast was not included in the room rate. The location of the hotel is inconvenient if you are interested in exploring downtown Groningen.
Visited this hotel, like most of the other guests as part of a business trip. The reception upon entry was very friendly and staff at the front desk were very helpful. Also when entering the restaurant, the waiter serving me (he had worked in Aruba and knew something about Indonesian food) was very helpful to suggest an excellent meal whilst the menu was limited due to unexpected group coming in. The room was comfortable and sleep was really no problem. All in all an excellent place to stay for a business trip (and also for visiting the nice city, which I had no time for).
This is a practical location with its proximity to the motorway so you are here quickly, but the flip side is that it is noisy, I was on the motorway side and was glad of my ear plugs. This is not somewhere I would stay for a holiday but for work it was good and I only ended up in it for about 9hrs anyway!!!! The service was very friendly and for that alone you’ll be well looked after.
Mercure Groningen does not accept pets. We failed to check in advance, as we have travelled with our Labrador on holidays for more than 25 years (not the same one) and were never refused. We had the clear impression that pets were welcome at all Accor hotels. In accept responsibility for not checking, but the service at the Mercure Groningen was appalling. I asked whether there was another Accor hotel close by or another hotel accepting pets in ther city. I was told that no such information was available. Fortunately we did find another hotel in Groningen, and proceeded to Maastricht, Gent and Bruxelles, staying at pet friendly Accor hotels.
Staff went out of their way to ensure a good stay by all guests. There were many international musicians staying at the hotel, due to a music festival in the city centre. The hotel staff did everything possible during the weekend to assist everyone.
best hospitality & interesting Free Morning Coffee...it was very helpful front desk officer and amazingly there was always free morning coffee. it happened every time i would like to go out they give us very attentive direction and very passionate to let me took my time to understand
This hotel is great if you are visiting for work. Rooms are kind of small, but they have just what you need. Unless you think about staying all day in room. Rooms are clean and also for me it was good to work sitting at table for couple of hours. I must thank the people on desk, they were very helpfull, specially late night we arrive at 03:00 am and everything around was close, but the man on desk went to kitchen and prepared us a little pizza (it was not open restaurant and it was not his job to do this) but he was so kind to do it for us. So I recommend this place if you are coming to work to Groningen! Thanks to personnel at hotel!
Basic hotel, which is not same Mercure standard as in other cities I have visited. But everything worked good enough. Clean, nice room and helpful staff. Easy to reach by the car. Not too far from the city by taxi. The quality of food in the restaurant was poor.
