There are roadworks and renovations next door which make finding the way in tricky. I wasted 20 minutes circulating round before finding the right way in. Parking is chargeable and there's not a lot of it. Apart from these two points, it's excellent. Clean and tidy, run by humans, was upgraded to the plush top floor and food was reaslly good and a fair price. Overall it's not really cheap, but fair value for a good hotel.
I stayed now twice in the Mercure in Groningen. Both time for work but would also consider for a nice weekend! Was both times upgraded, which is quite nice, as then the rooms are a bit more luxurious. Despite located next to the highway the noise is manageable, ask for higher level floors, then you should be fine. Parking is possible at the hotel, though a bit small and if you arrive late, the parking might be full. Around the hotel is currently a big construction area, so be patient and expect sometimes a bit of delay (and mess) getting there. Rooms have all you need but are suitable for 2 persons only, so little on the smaller side. Bathrooms are are little bit basic but all works. Wifi free of charge with good speed. The center of Groningen is a bit further away, so better rent a bike, then no problem. Food in restaurant is ok but not more, limited choice. During week mainly booked by business guests. I will stay there again.
I stayed for 1 night at Mercure in Groningen, during my road trip to The Netherlands. I arrived pretty late(after 22 o'clock), as I left in the morning from Copenhagen, but there was some traffic in Germany that delayed my arrival. As soon as I arrived at the hotel, I parked my car in the parking area close to the entrance. I was told at the reception to move my car from the parking spaces located at the entrance of the hotel because I will have to pay to the municipality for the parking. I was also told to park the car somewhere next to the hotel (50-100m away). I did so, but when I checked out I was charged 7.5€ for the parking. Hotel responded to my review on booking.com, saying that the receptionist didn't informed me well about the parking policy, as they charge 7.5€ per day. Cleanliness of the bathroom was equivalent to a 1-2 stars hotel. Moreover, the beds were not comfortable, at least not for someone that was driving 1000km and booked a room to get a good rest..
Booked room with lits-jumeaux. But instead found the room not cleaned (beds still disaster of previous occupant). Returned to reception who were surprised...Than received new room which was tucked in corner room with 2 single beds. Returned to reception to ask why I didn't get the room I booked. Again surprised as their system showed room different to the booking confirmation I had in my hands. Asked for solution, appeared such was not possible. Asked to upgrade; also not possible. Asked for compensation; difficult; they need to checks their system; SO THEIR SYSTEM appears to be more worth than my email confirmation? To me the service is failing big time and I am not recommending this hotel to anyone.
Nice beds, bathroom ok, room ok, personnel ol, but ... The room was very dusty. I believe there is not enough ventilation. And, the rooms on the road side are noisy. Not only the traffic is very, very audible but also there is some sort of machine running constantly. So, I thought a 2 or 3, and being in a good mood today i chose for a three, but only just
It is a nice 4 stars hotel with own parking for which you need to pay a fee. There is a free of charge parking possibility as well. The rooms look nice. They should have paid more attention to cleaning, but otherwise it was on an acceptable level. Breakfast is not included in a the price of the room.
Very nice business hotel, far away from the center but close to the motorway leading to many directions. Breakfast is OK, rooms are clean and spacious. Free parking space is provided outside the hotel.

Close by big Park and great Chinese all you can eat buffet in Pavilion overlooking lake. We will be back in Oct17
I spent one night here and I have to say it was very comfortable indeed. A light lunch followed by an excellent evening meal in the hotel's restaurant. A super comfortable bed and a very quiet room, which was spotlessly clean, made for a really good sleep, breakfast the next morning was just perfect. Importantly, the staff were lovely, a welcome smile on arrival, as were the waiting staff the night before and also those on duty at breakfast. The staff here, are a credit to the hotel and the hotel management are very fortunate to have such a great team. I would most definitely stay here again and for those who do, you will not be disappointed.
Liked the hotel but it is a bit far from the center. You need a car or a taxi ride to come and go. Bus close by; 7-8 minutes walking. Rooms are good, a bit small but nice. Breakfast also good. I am not sure I would stay here if businesd is in the center! But for just to stay in Groningen, yes I would stay here again.
