Kids loved it!

When I checked in, the hotel was overbooked. I was moved to another property down the street but they incorrectly told the new place that I needed only 1 night vs. the 4 I booked. I was then told to come back to the Spires as they "made a mistake" and sent away the wrong person. After my 1st night, I came back to the hotel at the end of the 2nd day to find a letter stating that there was no option but that I needed to move to a different room for the remainder of my stay. Other than an apology, nothing else was done to compensate me for my inconvenience. I understand that these things happen sometimes, but a simple gesture of goodwill would have been appreciated. The apartments themselves are nice, but they shouldn't be using companies like Orbitz to sell their rooms if they cannot properly manage their room inventory with other customers over the phone or on their website.

Bottom line: Between the location and the size of the room, which is actually a suite (real kitchen, washing machine, living area), this is the best deal for your money. Pretty much everything in Glasgow is walkable, and the living area is modern and fairly spacious, and when I went, it was considerably cheaper than any comparable hotel room. Also, the staff is friendly and do everything they can to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. That being said, THIS IS NOT A HOTEL. It is several suites within a rather large apartment building, so it was not easy to find (we passed by it several times before we notices the very small sign on the building indicated that we were at the right place). Also, the staff leaves at 7:00 p.m., so anything we needed taken care of after hours had to wait until the next morning (like there being issues with our shower). They did fix the issue, but the response time was slow (since we couldn't tell them about the problem until the next morning). The staff was friendly and helpful, but again, limited in their capacity given their status as not being a hotel (no concierge, etc.). To avoid this shortcoming, the biggest suggestion I would make is to check in as early as possible, thoroughly inspect your suite, and given them a chance to correct anything that very same day.
