Holiday Inn Express Gaylord

This is not a $120 room hotel should have been $90 tops.

We secured this room based on location [near Mackinaw Island] and the Holiday Inn name. It was clearly overpriced [due to the July 4th weekend] but we decided to give it a go. Bad life decision. This was a property Holiday Inn purchased and tried to makeover unsuccessfully. Our room was on the first floor across from the breakfast area so it was uncomfortably loud and when the guests in the room above us moved, the ceiling creaked. Tough to get adequate rest and an overall challenging stay.

very pleasant and staff was helpfull. over all had a great one night stay.

Could not ask for a better place for an overnighter to get some time in on the slopes. Right off the freeway, close to local food, and stores, and only about a 20 minute drive to Boyne. Only comment about the 2 score of room comfort, it was about -17 degrees outside, and about 85 degrees in the room. The heat would not keep a normal comfortable temperature, we wound up shutting it off so we could actually sleep. Otherwise, the room was nice, beds were comfortable, and free continental breakfast was ok.

Hotel was great very large comfortable room. Getting into and out of the hotel could be easier.

room clean staff nice close to 75 all in all great place to stay near everthing.

For my 1 night stay, room was ready when I arrived, staff was friendly and you can't beat the location for breaking up that drive to the UP. Room had everything I needed for a good night sleep and a hot shower in the morning to get back on the road. I would use this hotel again.

The first thing I noticed was the heavy use of deodorizers. The chemicals covered a smell that became evident as the stay weared on. I asked for a little extra time to check out, not an unusual request. The desk person guilt-ed me into checking out on time with statements like "it's a little late to be telling me that now" and "I'll have to search for a housekeeper to let her know if that's your intent" At 110 bucks a night I didn't feel a few extra minutes to check out was a biggie but apparently the staff did. Aside from the aforementioned statement, although the place was clean and in fair condition, there wasn't anything that set it apart from a lower priced "rack rate" hotel. It is that fact that will prevent me from returning to this establishment.

While the hotel was clean and in a great location, getting woken up at 11:30 by a fire alarm and being evacuated for an hour in the cold was rather unpleasant. We were assured by the hotel that O*** would take care of a refund... now let's see what happens.

VERY COMFORTABLE AND FRIENDLY STAFF! THE POOL WAS GRAT AND THE CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST WAS VERY GOOD. I WILL DEFINITELY STAY HERE AGAIN SOON.

We had great time staying at this hotel. The hot tub was amazing with the exception of the ladder with was a little loose. Great location and staff.

This hotel was among the best at which I have stayed. The room was immaculate, quiet, and had plenty of space. The bath was quite clean and roomy, with a tub-shower that included a shower head that was easily adjusted from one spray type to another. There were plenty of towels, another plus. The breakfast had many sweet options, limited cold cereal, and the only fruit offered was bananas- there is some room for improvement there. On the other hand, the coffee, tea and juice selection was wide, and the coffee was a cut above the usual stuff that has been standing around too long in hotel breakfasts. The breakfast room was clean, and was actually a separate room, not a corner of the lobby, which made it more comfortable somehow. Internet access is easy, which is important for many business travelers. Access to recreation- state parks, movies, etc., is also very easy. I would definitely stay at this place again.

We went up north for the weakened and enjoyed out stay!

Room was very nice. Rug needed to be cleaned. Breakfast was Fantastic! Easy Access to Expressway and Downtown

Right off the highway-good restaurants nearby. Everything was clean comfortable and new,

We were offered a wonderful room with the best view of the Mackinc Bridge!! The price was extremely affordable! And they had good coffee served 24 hours at the hospitality lounge!

Average hotel for the area. Nothing special, nothing bad and it was clean enough. The only surprise was being charged $1 for using the safe in hotel room!! No sign to say there would be a charge - such a dumb thing as it utilizes a key and not a combination. Surprised they even had a record of it.

We were traveling from Traverse City to the UP and decided to stay at this place for the night. It was very nice to stay (just like all other Holiday Inn Express hotels). Comfortable beds, good showers and very good hot breakfast. Would definitely recommend.

The hotel was easy to find off the freeway and the room was clean. There was a mix up at check in where two families with the same last name were staying and they checked in the other family under our reservation. The free breakfast was hardly worth mentioning. Not many choices and they ran out of food. The room was nice and the pool area was also nice.

Good service, nice room, but the wireless internet did not work the first night. Somehow it worked the second day.
