This is the best hotel on the south side of Grants, NM except for the fact that if you are the first guest to shower it will be hot water. If you are anyone after that good luck. The staff are all very nice and polite, the hot tub is very soothing, and the pool is clean. The internet is a step above dial-up but there is a Dennys in their back yard and a Walmart extremely close. I stay there a lot despite the cold water showers.
Upon check in I was told that the internet was not hard-wired. As there was a great deal of wind it didn't work at all. I was very disappointed in that. When I went to my room there was a person sitting there watching TV. He said he was an air-conditioner technician and was just checking the AC in that room. I was apprehensive, but the AC worked fine all night long.
Everything was acceptable. The only problem I had, was that houskeeping left my door open after they cleaned.
Seemed really nice until I noticed an extra charge on my credit card. When I called, they didn't call me back. When I got ahold of them they claimed I was being charged for linens that were stained. BS I knew someone who owned a hotel and I've seen some of the linens that came out of the rooms and guess what, it's called Oxy clean or bleach. Besides the fact that no linens I saw were stained and nowhere near the cost they robbed from me.
I have stayed at this motel in years past and it was pretty nice. Not now! The bathrooms are in pathetic condition, i.e. stains, cracked walls, wall paper coming loose, rails torn out of the tub area, the hair dryer mounted so that only one outlet is available as the other was blocked by the dryer. We had two adults in the room and were provided with one very small bar of soap, and one each of shampoo, conditioner, etc. There was one coffee packet in the room. And of course the phone to the front desk either did not work, or they just did not answer.when we tried to call for more supplies, so we had to walk back to the lobby to get more. All walls had been patched , and quite poorly at that. Carpet is in bad need of replacement. The Continental breakfast consisted of waffles - which was empty by 8:00 when we arrived, there were 3 bagels left, 5 chocolate donuts, raisin bran and warm milk, over ripened bananas, and an apple. That was all there was in the area when we arrived I've stayed in a lot of flea bag motels over the years and expect this type of room for $29, but for the $80 I spent here, I expect a bit more. Travelers beware!
The hotel was great. Great beds, clean room, excellent staff but very lacking in good places to eat. There is a Denny's right next door but reading the reviews I wouldn't send my worst enemy there. The room had a refrigerator, microwave and everything you could need. There breakfast was great. I would stay there again but would eat before I arrived.
I checked in at the front desk around 5pm and was given a key. But when I tried to enter the room it was still being cleaned and not ready. I was able to enter 30 minutes later. Room was clean however the bathroom had some issues. Bathroom tiles on floor near shower were loose. Light bulbs above bathroom sink were for recessed lighting so light was pointed horizontally, not down where it would be more helpful. Ice machine and vending on second floor was removed. Did find these things on ground floor though. Used laundry facilities. Washer was good but dryer would not dry. I cleared the lint trap before starting but still would not dry. Probably the exhaust pipe is clogged with lint. Bed was comfortable and got a good sleep.
I was scared my stuff in my car would not be there when I woke up but I woke to the police radio they were walking upstairs at 4am.
It was a good stay except for the noise of the other guests. Other than that it was a good trip.
I had never stayed at a Travelodge before. I was surprised at what a pleasant experience it was. I would definitely stay here again
