Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort

Literally no beach. They pack in lounge chairs with only one row not in the ocean, the other two rows which are all chair to chair are in the ocean. Very small Pool so that was packed too. Hotel staff told me I need to be down by 5:30am to get chair at beach or pool. Fights everyday with staff and fellow hotel guests over chairs, extremely uncomfortable, not a relaxing vacation with all that going on. We left everyday and sat at Hemingway’s beach club. Nice place but so sad when you can’t even stay at your own hotel.

I think it's important for people to know there is no real beach anymore due to severe erosion. The fact that we didn't know this until the front desk informed us upon check-in is extremely poor customer service. I walked all the way to the Kimpton Seafire along the beach, and the Marriott's was the worst. No other hotel/resort/condo was impacted the way the Marriott is. They need to delete the aerial photo showing row upon row of chairs. They had two rows of chairs shoved right up to the retaining wall, and the stairs leading to the rest of the beach to the north of the hotel were roped off so you had to walk against a retaining wall and fight the waves to get anywhere. We were told we could take a free van to a public beach a couple of miles away, but the main draw of the property was the 'beach resort' aspect of it and if I had known there was no beach I would have rented a car or more likely, stayed elsewhere. Other ding I have is that the reception personnel. They seemed put out when I had questions & were indifferent, especially when checking out. At no point during checkout was I asked about how the stay was. It was also hard to find out information about amenities. Had no idea there was a spa & fitness center (TINY) until I asked. One other bit of feedback I have is that there were nonstop events over the weekend. Very crowded and noisy. Honestly, though, were it not for the poor beach, I would definitely stay there again because of the service (minus front desk).

Beach is too thin and too close to water. Outside facilities dated.

Great time. Great hotel. Close to everything.

Beautiful crystal clear water! Nice hotel. Wished housekeeping was a little better.

We have stayed at the Marriott many times while visiting Cayman and are always impressed by the staff.

Fabulous Hotel amazing attention to detail ❤️ They just won number 2 on Seven Mile Beach!! I know why!!!! Great great great

This was our 5th trip to GC. We usually stay at the Westin, which is up the road. The Westin was under construction when we were there last year and sucked, so we decided to try the Marriott. Reviews indicated it was equivalent. It is NOT equivalent to the Westin. Not even close. So stay at the Westin--they cost the same. Why? (1) The beach area at the Marriott is lame. It is WAY smaller than the Westin's beach and the chairs are crammed together. You have to get out there by 8 am to get a good spot, otherwise, you are screwed. But even the good spots aren't that good. The beach ambience is closer to South Padre Island (spring break destination) than Grand Cayman. There is this giant "turtle courtyard" that is fun if you are under 10, otherwise it's not usable. Most importantly, there is also not any place to just sit on comfortable lounge chairs and overlook the beach (the Westin has tons of this, many seating areas are covered with giant ceiling fans). At the Marriott, other than the beach chairs (see above), the only seating is at the pool or at the restaurant. This is something we didn't realize how much we appreciated until we didn't have it. We ended up going to the Westin every morning for coffee and hanging out there. Now that the Westin remodel is done, we are never going anywhere else again. Upsides to Marriott: (1) Drinks at bar are good, (2) food at restaurant is good, (3) staff is super-good. What you need to know: Go to the Westin.

We stayed for 3 nights, we were very impressed with the hospitality and overall service.we were greeted with some fresh Mango lemonade which was really nice and refreshing. Hotel was very conveniently located. There was an Indian wedding going on so the pool area was closed off for a few hours one day and than part of the beach area was also closed off for a few hours the next day as well as the bar in hte lobby but it didn't really directly interfere with what we wanted to do. We absolutely recommend this hotel and will definitely go back.

My boyfriend and I had such an amazing time at the Marriott.. decor is beautiful and clean, the restaurant was awesome (book your reservation for the Sunday brunch asap) THE STAFF were so friendly, kind, and funny, they made us feel like we were at home!!! In conclusion, BOOK IT! You won't be disappointed :) -28 yr old from NYC Thank you to the bellmen (Nelson), bar tenders and cocktail waitress (evens) and the pool guys (Lloyd you rock)

Very attentive staff. A bit crowded on the beach right at the resort, but the beach opens up if you walk couple of minutes away. Would definitely stay again!

It's overpriced if you're spending more than $400 a night. The facilities are not super up to date. The pool is tiny and the private beach is also small with little room between chairs and very small amount of square footage for being on the beach. You have to get there before 9:30am to get a beach chair. The waiter service at the beach could be more frequent.

This is my 10th year here. Each year gets better. Eating breakfast and the manager asked about our food. Few questions about a drive to Rum Point and he came back with directions and suggestions. Another way they go out of their way to take care of you. Everyone is friendly and goes out of their way to make your day enjoyable.

Great location, very friendly staff, clean beach, beautiful sunsets, lots of activities, spacious rooms, Delicious rum drinks!

On the beach, close to restaurants ,staff is great!

The upgraded facility feels very intimate, with fabulous service , great food and a great beach,

Great facility right on the beach. The staff was very attentive and friendly - especially Aldo. He went out of his way to assist everyone with their Go-Pro's and any other needs. Hope to go back very soon.

Excellent hotel and right on the beach. Reef is right there. You could snorkeling gears and under water camera etc. that was good. Staff would be very to happy to provide umbrella, chairs, towels etc. overall experience was excellent.

Upon arrival with the airport taxi, the instant help from the hotel staff was a great first impression. The friendly welcome drink was a cool and refreshing followup from the rather hot and sweaty check in at the airport, which could definitely use a good overhaul.

Fabulous experience! The employees always had friendly smiles and shining eyes where ever we went, and everyone was helpful and accomodating. I rode a jet ski for the first time just outside our hotel! The water was calm and turquoise and shallowm near the shore. Swam with the dolphins for the first time a short cab ride away. Sailed a sunset cruise dinner a short cab ride away. OR the local bus stops just outside the hotel and only $2.50 USD! Went to George town on the local bus...much cheaper than the cab! Highly recommend the Marriott Hotel and Grand Cayman!

Dear catherine, thank you for taking the time to write a review. With regards to your comments about our beach, unfortunately Seven Mile Beach on the whole has experienced a degree of erosion due to recent hurricanes. Although we have been very lucky to escape any direct impact and damage, the hurricanes in the region have led to extremely un-seasonal and unpredictable sea and tidal conditions – causing the landscape of our beach to change. Seven Mile Beach and most of the island waters are strictly protected as a marine park so our options are limited and we are to some extent at the mercy of Mother Nature. Despite this we always offer our guests ample accommodation to relax, either on the beach or around the pool and in addition we also offer additional beach services off site including a complimentary shuttle service.      I’m very happy to say our beach has almost returned to its full Caribbean white sand glory for our guests to enjoy and we are now accommodating triple rows of chairs along the entire width of the hotel’s beachfront. Best regards, John Hazard, General Manager
