As commented before, it's the staff who make this hotel. Every member of staff was polite and kind and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble and any hiccups we had with the room, maintenance etc was dealt with almost immediately and with a smile. If only all hotels were this good. The food in the SENS buffet for breakfast and evening meal was superb. Anything and everything you could wish for - so much variety and great quality, and food was replaced quickly so the choice was always plentiful. As mentioned several times before, it was a shame that the plates are not kept on heated racks, as the food does get cold very quickly. Staff here are smiling, hardworking, and clear used plates etc very quickly. I did ask the manager if he could provide santising and gel for guests arriving at the buffet, as we all share the same serving implements, and this will prevent cross infection with viruses and tummy bugs. Pools on the 7th and 11th floors were heated, but what a shame no indoor pool for when the weather is cooler. I understand even the spa pool is outdoor too. My husband enjoyed his massage at the spa. Our guest manager Rocio Sanz was really kind and professional. She arranged surprise Cava and strawberries on my husband's birthday and sorted out the room muddle for us. We ate in the a la carte restaurant one evening. The food here was a real disappointment. I think the chef is trying too hard and it certainly wasn't good italian fare. Thanks to the staff who arranged a birthday cake- very very kind. We used the free shuttle to go to the beach area once- nice to leave the hotel and have a walk along the beautiful sea front. We also hired a car for 2 days - we would recommend this as the hotel (as stated) is very isolated. Trips to Las Palmas and Puerto Morgan were lovely. (We used "Isla car" which we booked before we left the UK and they were very good with pick ups and return at the hotel) There is plenty of underground parking at the hotel. My main annoyance/complaint is that there is only ONE small bar open for drinks in the evening and they cannot cope with the number of guests who wish to use it. We struggled for seats on several occasions. The bar staff are not so attentive or hard working as in any other area of the hotel. The rooms are great, plenty of space to unpack etc. Rooms cleaned to a high standard. All in all a great stay and I would return.

We stayed here recently with friends for a week and despite the weather being cold and windy we really enjoyed our stay. From the moment we arrived we found every single member of staff we encountered throughout our stay to be very friendly, polite and extremely helpful, one member in particular stood out as exceptional and that was the Guest Manager Rocio Sanz who went out of her way to make our stay special. The food and service in the main buffet restaurant was very good and even when on the odd occasion they were overwhelmed by the number of diners arriving at the same time, they dealt with the problem efficiently and politely. We loved the rooftop pool on the 11th floor, but unfortunately the very strong winds during our stay limited the number of days we could fully enjoy it. It’s a good hotel if you enjoy golf as the two courses adjacent to the hotel are fairly challenging, there’s also a well equipped gym and good spa on site too. The only negative comments I would make about the hotel and resort are; It’s a long way from the nearest costal town, though they do run free courtesy buses in and out of town on the hour. There are insufficient bar facilities in the evening where guests can drink and relax after dinner, you cannot find any seating after about 8pm and the drinks service in this area is not very good. The service in the A La Carte restaurant is good but the food is not as good as the main buffet restaurant. Avoid booking rooms in the Yuca block, as this is situated above the service yard and you are woken up by the noise of reversing vehicles and loud voices from 5am most mornings. In summary, taking account of my negative comments it’s still a good place to stay and you are sure to be well looked after.

We have just returned from a very relaxing week at this excellent hotel. I traveled with my parents, both in their 80’s and non of us golfers!...but after reading the reviews we decided to book, hoping for some winter sunshine. From the start we were met with a warm welcome and this service continued throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble, every staff member we met were extremely friendly, courteous and professional. I have been fortunate to stay in some wonderful hotels and the service given at the Sheraton Gran Canaria is up there with the best. The staff showed genuine interest in our well being and went above and beyond in their service. An example being, that my father lost his cap, and one of the reception staff, ran to the gift shop and presented my father with a replacement! Another positive was the food. The restaurant is a mixture of different ‘rooms’ for you to dine in, around a market style themed buffet. Cleverly designed to avoid the canteen feel that a lot of hotels end up with. Do take warm clothes though, as in the winter months it can be rather cool here, even with heaters! That brings me on to the only real negative... The hotel is not pretty!! It’s quite dark and rather austere, modern, with large areas of concrete and dark tiling. All rooms face the golf course, which is east. So after midday you have no sun on the balcony. (Which by the way are large with ample seating). The hotel is built over several levels, and if you are a sun-worshipper you find yourself having to move from the pool areas in the middle of the hotel to the top level on the 11th floor which has sun all day, but can be very breezy, which when we were there was actually a rather chilly breeze! The hotel has plenty of seating areas, but no 1 particular communal lounge area, where you can mix with the many clientele of all nationalities. There is the 19th hole bar but not everyone wants to sit in this small area. Maybe more staff are available in the peak months to approach guests for their drink requests? To conclude, we had a very relaxing winter break, there is nothing around the hotel, so you can really enjoy the peace and quiet. We took advantage of the free shuttle bus, 15 minutes to Maspalomas where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. This is a 5 star hotel... But the true stars of this hotel are the staff. Thank you to you all for making our visit so enjoyable.

Even for non golfers , this is a stunning place - high up on the hills overlooking Maspalomas- large comfortable rooms (if a somewhat dangerously slippery bathroom) several pools- including a beautiful infinity pool on the highest hill! Food was superb ,with excellent choices for breakfast and dinner! The golf facilities looked amazing - might take the game up myself - if all golf facilities looked this good!

We enjoyed a golfing holiday here in January. Golf is very well organised and courses beautiful. We had a room on the 10th floor with fab views with a short walk up to the sunset pool. We used the shuttle bus several times to get to Maspalomas and Mogan. We had a large (200) people arrive for conference which had an adverse affect on the dining area a couple of nights , maybe this could be better managed in future. Finally, we would like another bar or somewhere warm to sit in the cooler evenings perhaps. Other than that a lovely holiday and especially lovely staff.

Having spent a week on the coast at Maspolomas last year, this year we decided to move inland to the Sheraton Salobre Golf Resort. Interesting journey to the hotel,and on arriving you can see where the rock has been drilled or blasted away at the entrance of a wide but steep drive. Presented with a glass of Fizz at reception, and a speedy check in, led us to the porters and pointing out our luggage with our room numbers for them to deliver. A member of staff took us on a tour of various restaurants and bar's on the ground floor, and up to the first floor to the main restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Our room was on the 7th floor, because of it's design, and built on the side of a cliff, we had to leave the lift on the 4th floor, and walk about 50 yards to another lift to take us up to the 7th, and that's not the finish, if you want to get to the 11th floor, you have to go to another lift to take you up from the 7th, good job we had the member of staff with us. We arrive at our room, and it's not bad, but could have done with more space for clothes. His and Hers unit, very good shower (best for a long time) and bath area, and excellent views over the golf course, also clean sheets and towels each day. Staff very helpful and friendly, both at breakfast and dinner, and did enjoy the food at the Camaleon restaurant which you have to book. Eventually we manage to make it up to the 11th floor, and the Infinity/Sunset Pool for adults only, with plenty of sun beds to choose from, there are some Balinese beds to hire for the day at extra cost, and a bar serving drinks in plastic cups for safety, but the main reason to be up on the top are the fantastic views all around. There is a fitness centre on the 11th floor, but with all the walking you do around the hotel, you keep fit enough as it is. Ended enjoying the week, who wouldn't, with a lot better weather than back home, but would have to think about going back

Stayed here for a week, lovely hotel, nice rooms Good if you want to play golf, if not don’t go there as there’s hardly any entertainment and the hotel is so far out that you can’t walk out anywhere, there is a shuttle bus but it stops running at 6pm so we had to taxi back every night Food was excellent and staff very friendly

My wife and I booked another stay at this superb resort in January based on our trip last year. The standard of everything at the resort is justifiably 5 star and the service from all the staff even higher. From the warmth of the welcome on arrival and throughout our stay, without exception all of the staff were cheerful, motivated and undoubtedly seem to enjoy their roles; there was clear evidence of high quality leadership in running the enterprise and of investment in staff training. Located high up in the El Salobre region facing the south coast, the resort - including 2 fine golf courses - is tastefully designed and set in a veritable oasis of palm trees and lawns. The views from the rooftop infinity swimming pool and 4 poster loungers are impressive and the complimentary 3 hour use of the Spa included in our deal so relaxing. Last year the main dining area was thoughtfully restyled providing a much more open feel with extra space both inside and out which was most welcome. The variety of the food on offer for the buffet-style meals has been increased significantly, too: there is now a host of choice of top quality food cooked individually to taste as well as the usual buffet fayre. There are many excellent swimming pools located around the resort and during our stay there was no contention over surrounding sun loungers which made relaxing there a sheer pleasure. We were fortunate enough to be allocated a room with a sizable terrace overlooking one of the main swimming pools which we enjoyed very much as it was in the shade. Despite not being golfers, for us this is without hesitation the best place to stay in Gran Canaria and we shall return for a repeat stay at a similar time of year to be spoiled once again.

We have been going to this hotel for a few years now and just keeps getting better the refurbishment of the dining area is very well done and the service is not to be out done first class from everyone thank you to all the staff in golf shop great to be remembered

Recently spent 15 nights in a fabulous room on 8th floor, which had far-reaching views of the mountains. Great private terrace with two huge sun-beds, table and chairs and a lounge sofa. Our room had a massive bed, which was the most comfortable ever, a wet-room, twin basins etc. etc. and was furnished with everything one could wish for, except a fridge, but we were kindly lent a small fridge to keep our fresh milk in. The staff everywhere were amazing and it was just so lovely to receive such excellent service, really exceptional service actually. The Sunset Bar on the 11th floor was just gorgeous with plenty of sun-beds, towels, Balinese beds if you paid extra and the most spectacular views ever. The spa area was also fab, although I didn't have any treatments as such, I used the hamman and the infinity pool (kept at 30 degrees) which overlooked the mountains - again, everything you need provided. With regards to the dining experience, wow, top-notch, huge choice, beautiful displays, fresh and delicious food every time. I really can't fault this wonderful hotel. We loved the fact that there was no 'entertainment', just class all the way. The golfers numbered about half the guests I would say and there were all nationalities there. Car hire seemed pretty reasonable, but we took advantage of the free shuttle bus which left on the hour every hour, except 2pm, taking us to the beach-area of Maspalomas, in fact to a beach club owned by the Sheraton from where you can nip over the small road and be directly on the wonderful beach or continue along the road to the right and get to the shopping malls. If you do a left turn, you'll pass the Riu Hotel and there's a bus station on the right with buses going to various towns, including Puerto de Mogan, which was stunning - market on Fridays. Other places worth visiting were Arguineguin, Puerto Rico and San Bartolome, the latter being arranged by free bus by the hotel on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please don't visit Playa del Inglis - s--t-hole. What else? Can't wait to go back. Just fabulous all round.
