I am very grateful to the lovely staff of the hotel who made my husband's birthday such a success. We had no idea that the staff knew it was his birthday, when someone arrived with a card, congratulations and a gift of wine for both of us. So very kind. He was very touched and it was a high point of our birthday/holiday. The hotel really is faultless, everyone very kind, everything sparkling clean and lovely. The ocean at your doorstep in a wonderful place; what could be better?

Just returned from a holiday at Il Faro and had a fabulous holiday. Before we went we requested a high and quiet room. We got a room on the fifth floor (top) and a side view of the sea (room 1540). The room was quiet apart from Friday and Saturday night when we got some noise from nearby bars. When we booked the holiday we paid for a room with a sea view ( as recommended by my fellow trip advisor reviewers). The hotel has 188 bedrooms of which at least 150+ have seaviews . I just wonder if we paid for something we would have got anyway, do you want to take that chance? The room itself was very good. Two very large single beds pushed together, a large bathroom with bath and shower, a fairly large tv ( with a couple of English channels ), and a very large balcony with table, two chairs and two Sun beds. Air conditioning was standard and free and there was a safe deposit box (payable at 2.30 euros per day). The restaurant was excellent. Great variety in the starters, mains, desserts and fruit. Spoilt for choice. The pool was good. As previously stated by my fellow reviewers you get allocated your Sun beds on arrival. If you are not happy with your allocation, see the pool attendant each day and ask to change to any vacant beds. The hotel was pretty full on our visit but the pool was hardly used. With the hotel being right on the beach you can get from the pool onto the beach, have a swim in the sea, and go back to your Sun bed by the pool. The staff throughout our holiday were very helpful and friendly. Keep up the good work. Just one complaint. The hotel allows smoking by the pool. If you are on a Sun bed next to a smoker then this could spoil your day. Also part of the alfresco dining was for smokers. How you keep the smoke from going into the no smoking area I don't know. Answers on a post card. Most of the entertainment at night took place on the outside terrace. This again was a smoking area, so if you wanted to watch the entertainment you had to sit amongst the smokers. The hotel actually encouraged smoking by having a cigarette and cigar machine in the reception area. The quicker the hotel moves into the 21st. century and bans smoking altogether the better and the more likely it will be that I will return to this hotel.

Stayed August 16 to 23 - emailed in advance outstanding questions which were immediately addressed and reassured. Greeted by friendly helpful reception staff. Beautiful exceptionally clean room overlooking pool, sea front spectacular and light house. Faultless hotel with amazing well presented food attentive staff enjoyed by myself and a marvellous mix of friendly people from Europe and beyond! Hotel located in a beautiful part of Gran Canaria to the left a short walk to Maspalomas Dunes. To the right amazing restaurants and upmarket shops/centre. Further on unspoilt walks along to the next bay. Great nightly evening entertainment (amazing Spanish v Irish dancing ! with live instrument playing/singing had the audience wowing !) water aerobics in the pool etc if you wanted to join in. Located 2/3 mins walk bus station with routes to playa del ingles, puerto rico, Mogan (must see mogan) airport and Las Palmas etc (airport cost 4 euros 10 cents!!!). Furthest trip we ventured being Mogan and from harbour caught ferry back to puerto rico and bus back to Maspalomas stunning!! We stayed half board, purchasing water etc from local mini supermarkets (and bus to Mercadona). I wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend Ifa Faro Hotel - thank you for a wonderful stay.

On arriving at the hotel we received a room upgrade which gave us stunning views. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet was lovely. The kitchen were very kind and were able to provide gluten free bread no trouble at all. We did not eat here in the evening as the food was only a buffet, although it looked very nice. The pool area is small and sun beds are allocated on arrival. This was fine for us as we don't like racing down early, however we could see how some people may be disappointed by this. The hotel do very well with the space available to them and nobody intrudes on anyone else's space. The location of the hotel is fantastic with beach access and fantastic views. It is the perfect location for a holiday and we can't wait to return.

IFA Faro Hotel ticked all the boxes regarding location comfort and food for our summer holiday. Staff very friendly and particularly liked the fact that had sunbeds reserved for the week. No getting up early to claim with a towel! Minor point that not much outside seating and smoking allowed that also drifted into inside tables. Overall a very good hotel but beware men need to pack long trousers for dinner which seems ridiculous for a buffet style restaurant in a beach holiday hotel and could put you off staying.

As expected for an 4 star hotel, very clean, friendly efficient staff, good location, excellent pool area, poor facilities for children, limited nightly entertainment. Possible areas the hotel could improve on; provide FREE secure WI-FI hotel wide, review the sunbed reservation procedure, in theory and excellent idea, in practice, it needs better supervision, as some tagged sunbeds were not used and could have been reallocated to guests who were in less prominent areas. The hotel policy of long trousers in the restaurant needs clarification, the check in desk advised long trousers was mandatary, but in the restaurant, we were advised the policy had been relaxed due to the time of year. Air conditioning was poor within the rooms and needs upgrading or/and better maintenance.

Just returned from a week here with my teenage daughter - wish we'd booked for longer. Beautiful location; lovely hotel; clean; great food and the staff are just lovely. Great idea to allocate sunbeds - yes they were quite close together, but hey that's fine - everyone seemed to just get on with their sunbathing. The waiters/waitresses couldn't be more accommodating and all staff very friendly and helpful. Came back to England on Monday and miss it already. Wouldn't book through Thomson again though - felt we didn't get any help from them at the resort, but would definitely return to this hotel. Thank you so much for a lovely stay.

We couldn't recommend this hotel any higher. The staff and management are superb and attentive at all times. The location is spectacular. Just superb. Wifi isn't particularly great but to be honest everything else is about as good as it gets.

Stayed here for a week, enjoyed every thing apart from the pool area which is a shambles, you are allocated sunbeds on arrival and that is where you stay whether you like it or not, you could be stuck under a tree and not sre the sun all day, we refused ours and never went around the pool our entire stay, the beds are almost touching each other, no privicy at all. Cannot critisise any other part of the hotel, staff lovely, food very good, rooms clean and tidy.

Its been a year since our holiday here but after a rubbish experience in lanzarote I think its only fair I review the good hotels too. For a start the hotel is beautiful and clean, the staff are lovely and this hotel was at capacity too. They have a allotted dubbed for your whole trip which is a good idea because it stops morons leaving their towels on all day and disappearing. The pool is beautiful with a jacuzzi. The rooms are lovely and clean, although the see through shower door and toilet are a bit odd.(Not exactly see through but frosted glass). Anyway not too much to say negative, only had breakfast which was lovely and there are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, we did head away from the beach though for better quality and prices. Anyway this place is very nice.
