Gloria Palace Royal Hotel & Spa4.0 out of 5.0

We have stayed at the Gloria Palace Amadores, five times, and for a change we decided to try the Gloria Palace Royal. The Royal is without a doubt first class hotel, the bedrooms are large with lovely views and a very comfortable bed. The staff are very helpful and friendly, and nothing is to trouble for them. It was my hubby’s birthday while we away, and upon returning to our room in the late afternoon of his birthday we were greeted with a large birthday cake and a bottle of sparkling wine. We hadn’t told the Royal it was his birthday (passport), which we thought was just lovely. The hotel is kept spotlessly clean by the hard working staff. We had the upper swimming pool to ourselves on many occasions, which felt like it was our own private pool. We didn’t have any problems getting vacant sun beds at anytime of the day. The restaurant and food is of five star standards, fish and meats are cooked to order in front of you exactly how you like it cooked. Thank you Royal for a lovely holiday, we will return very soon.
A truly wonderful hotel, in a prime location offering beautiful views, spotlessly clean, friendly staff and fantastic food. Could not fault it. Easy access to the beautiful beach of Amodorres. A very quiet, tranquil place for a restfull holiday.
What can I say but had a great time here. The AI food was really good the room was nice with great view the reception staff were helpful the bar staff good and resteraunt staff good aswell I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend this place to everyone that wants a holiday that's relaxing with no worrys and you don't even have to leave the resort although we do iam lost for words as cant find anything to moan about it was that good
We've enjoyed our weekend at Gloria palace royal, and I'll start with the good... a clean well run hotel with friendly helpful staff, lovely infinity pool, and good and varied food. We very much like their policy that 'towels will be removed if placed on sun loungers and not used before 10am', however I am sitting by the pool now and the 4 loungers next to me in prime poolside location have been reserved with towels and magazines since I arrived at 9.30, it's now lunch time, so the rule doesn't seem to be enforced... nice idea though! From check in the staff were exceptional, courteous and friendly, a lovely glass of cava in arrival, and a free upgrade to a suite without us even hinting! Lovely! One thing to note... It's not always that relaxing around the pool if that's what you're after, with activities like aqua aerobics etc and house music.... that said, it seems fairly popular so probably just us craving peace and relaxation on a rare child-free weekend! My main issue with this hotel and one to note is the strict long trousers rule in the main restaurant in the evening. Apparently people are normally warned of this on arrival, but we were not. My partner only brought shorts, so was wearing his smart shorts and a white linen shirt to dinner, but was instructed not to sit down and accompanied to a room and asked to wear a pair of black trousers that didn't do up properly. He was so embarrassed, and the daft thing is, there were people wearing jeans with holes in and trainers but that is fine, but smart shorts and a shirt is not. I can't help but feel rules like this are dated and pretentious... we travel a lot and have stayed in some pretty special 5 star hotels, and when they are beach/holiday resorts we have not come across this antiquated stipulation before... strange in a restaurant that is effectively like a large canteen with a buffet, albeit one that serves some delicious food with excellent attentive staff... I felt this really let it down. My partner has to wear these itchy ill fitting trousers every evening, and I fear he will be charged for the privilege. Perhaps this is communicated to people on booking but I missed it? My review is sounding negative as I had a couple of points I felt people should be aware of, yet I have given my review 4 stars as it is a well run hotel, and the staff have been lovely and welcoming... the rooms clean and comfortable, and we have enjoyed a fantastic mini break despite the trouser incident!
As ever, our room was fine, plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, kettle and hairdryer and water provided everyday. Beautiful view of Amadores Beach. The whole hotel is kept beautifully clean. The staff are amazing and part of the reason we return so often. Cannot thank the dining staff, particularly Louis and Miguel for their kindness. Our days were made all the better for a wonderful group of youngsters on internships, Reis, Jens, Nick and Amy thanks. The animating team are great and we enjoyed the entertainment that we went to see. Must not forget the wonderful singing waiter Manuel. The only downside, if you can call it that, is the trek uphill back from the beach, but if the hotel was anywhere else you wouldn't have such a wonderful view. We hope to go back next year for our 5th visit.
We are just back from a week's holiday at this excellent hotel. Food good, staff excellent, facilities very good but definitely not for people who are disabled! Insufficient ramps, only one up to the pool. Stairs everywhere. Family rooms are either up stairs or down stairs. Some lifts needed. Also in restaurant there are no food allergies to see. I know we were abroad, and we have excellent food allergy notices here, but even basic allergies would go a long way. It has not put us off the Hotel as it was excellent but going back we would know what to expect.
We stayed there end of April this year for 4 nights. The hotel is kept clean and staff are very friendly. The views of Amadores beach is just fantastic. There are enough sun beds around the pools and the beach is only a few minutes walk away. The food is generally good, although we only ate at the buffet since we had paid for a half board. puerto Rico beach with all its bars and restaurants is only around 10 minutes walk on a lovely promenade. Overall, we are very pleased with our stay and strongly recommend the place and the hotel.
Cant really fault this hotel. Great service, champagne on arrival, attentive throughout. Wide choice of excellent food. 2 lovely pools with plenty of sunbeds. Room cleaned daily. Communal ares immaculate. Good location, with great view of Amadores beach. Beach itself only 5 min walk away. Great for couples and families alike. Fridge in room with fresh bottled water every day. Room had air con and separate siring area and double length balcony. Best hotel visited in Gran Canaria, and we have been to a few. Well worth a visit. Highly recommended.
Hotel and staff very good, Staff on Reception, Maid's , David and Lorenzo Brilliant just to mention a few. Had 2 problem's, First was the Kiddies club, Our grandson went most morning's. We used to go sun-bathing on the top floor Then one morning the Entertainment Manager came up carrying our grandson (who is 5yrs old) on his shoulder's, We was'nt pleased at all. my son in law went down to the kid's club to complain and found out that they did'nt even know he had gone. So beware. the other problem was the Spa we went most day's until one afternoon I was in and I noticed a young family in with a baby with nothing on.No swim nappy. Nothing. One more thing they were British so you would think they would know better. I had a word with the lady at the door, She said she had not noticed it and she would have a word with them. We never went in again.
The Gloria Palace Royal is a lovely place to stay. We were unhappy with our first room and reception quickly found us an alternative one. The rooms were clean and spacious and the utility area was a bonus. The pool area was good with plenty of sunbeds. It was so refreshing to see a hotel following through with the removal of towels from sunbeds. The restaurant was welcoming and the staff always tried to seat you at a table with a view.We hope to return in the future.
