We went there for the festival of flowers- which was wonderful despite the rail. Gracias a todos y viva Catalunya! The hotel, we had a suite is situated outside in a wonderful location but all the rest is a disgrace! The managment ignores all what has been mentioned by my fellow travellers: - The rooms are really to be renovated, the sofa was dirty, and everything needs to be refurbished. We had old fashioned beds and the water ( not dry season ) was reallly a disaster. We wanted to change the suite because it‘s next to the office where you can hear the kitchen, the room maids VERY LATE AND VERY EARLY! -We complained about and directly by the señoritas at the reception - we speak Spanish fluently : But the people with the litter vans, the containers, are just under the suites - and this starts after 6 in the morning! Do you take your guests for hard of hearing or just stupid? - No other room „ la oficina no es a Su lado, ok) then I am an illiterate. - The people from the laundy service must do the job early. Ok! Gracias! Then I pay for what? For the view? This is not a Marriot- it‘s s a hotel that uses this name but you feal like in a youth hostel! Room service - we were paid back - because the food we ordered was a disgrace.Frozen and uneatable. Summary: We had a wonderful visit of this fantastic city, the people, all so lovely! But I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. I never critisize without informing. But the teuth is- they do not care! This is not my Catalunya! If you go on like this- it won‘t work! And wonderful staff looses the jobs due to mismanagment and non investment!
Recently stayed her and was disappointed. The hotel rated 5 star. Not at all. The pool is just bigger than a plunge pool and only 10 sun beds which were occupied from early on. The king room was a good size and be very comfortable. Storage very limited. Decor was very tired. Wallpaper coming off the walls. Fabric very worn on chair. Blackout curtains full of holes allowing ‘moth like light in. The hotel is in a great location for the old town, however the steep climb back up to the hotel is challenging. Breakfast would have been great, however hot eggs rubbery and cold! Hot plate not working. No juice in jugs on 2nd day. There was a function on on Thursday night which meant no food on terrace - we did not know about function and knew nothing of entertainment until it happened. The worst aspect was the music noise from about 22.00 until 03.00 on Friday and Saturday - ethnic group outside grounds who do not respond to police apparently. Very noisy! Staff said they informed police but could do nothing. Sorry would not return here.
We experienced an efficient check-in process and pleasant interactions with the staff. The rooms are well sized, equipped with everything you need (plugs, coffee etc.) and very clean. From the swimming pool area you can enjoy a nice view to the area. The city center is in walking distance (max. 20 minutes). We found it strange that we could not add the beers and the breakfast to the hotel bill, but had to pay it immediately after consumption. Strange.
This hotel is really great! Very nice and elegant, the staff were really polite. The room is really cool, you feel in an expensive hotel paying a good price, it’s really worthy, definitely a great option, it’s near to the center, have a good pool and an amazing view
Just home from a stop off here, marvellous hotel, top staff, the best views I’ve seen, 15 mins from airport and train 5 mins away. Will be back, top up the gin in time. I’ve stayed in many Marriott hotels and they are all good, but 5 star for £80 for two, can’t beat it
As a Marriott titanium member the first impression as you walk in is hope that the AC brand will recognise members who are loyal to the Marriott brand. No use pretending, the AC hotel brand shouldn’t be in the Marriott group as everytime does the bare minimum in providing benefits. No breakfast offer as with other brands, no upgrade at all, and same base room as booked. Arrive in the room and it’s a motel quality at best. No iron or ironing board in room, no safe to store valuables, no concierge to speak of, order ice to the room and pay a charge so had to pick it up from the bar. No kettle, tea or coffee in the room. No turndown service. So how does a brand that provides next to nothing still get three stars from me. The staff are lovely, hospitable , the views are great and the gym as some excellent spin bikes. Mini bar complimentary for titanium but that’s only a few soft drinks and a juice. Although the hotel is 10 minutes from everything, it’s a steep walk back up the hill, but if AC brands stepped up and delighted loyal members , added a few basics in the room, this one with the back up of great staff could really be a 5 star. Until then , mediocrity will prevail.
I am Lifetime Titanium and this could not help me with anything at AC Hotels our second stay at 2 different AC Hotels. Normally Roomupgrade Free Breakfast but not here. Location of this hotel is a bit far from the city, easy walk down but not so easy back. Parking was easy with lots of free parking. Hotel is 5 star only on in town! Swimmingpool the smallest one I ever have seen in a hotel! We had dinner both nights at the hotel restaurant, food was ok but can understand why they cant keep the Michelin award that they had 2017!! Restaurant almost empty and look very boring. Breakfast at 13,50 each is a joke! You can choose from Orange or Pinapple juice both undrinkable, TERRIBLE taste! Bread is not fresh from the bakery but frozen and heated in the oven is my guess which makes the crust of the bread very very hard! Hotels that charge for breakfas normally have fresh bread and many times even a machine that squeeze your orange juice. Also on arrival we very given a normal room even I had used a suiteupgrade that was in my account from Marriott Hotel did not have this information so I had to turn on my computer and email the confirmation that I had for the suiteupgrade. I did set the temperature in our bedroom to 22 degress but I woke up around 2 am and the room was freezing cold so I looked at the temp that I have in my alarmclock and it showed 15,2 degress! I pointed this out on checkout but the answer was that is the way it should be!!! Girona itself was a nice city and if we ever return we would choose another hotel!
Its a lovely place with fantastic views. Just a stones throw from the old town and that is well worth a look. Especially if you are a GOT fan. Very relaxing, good service, nice rooms and friendly staff.
Staff friendly and helpful. The terrace is what makes this hotel special. Rooms a bit tired for a 5* - wallpaper was peeling and the upholstery was a bit worn in our room. Would recommend for location (old town is easily walkable) and the terrace.
Great hotel for a short stay in Gerona. The historic city is on a steep hillside so you will be walking up and down to take in all the sights. Good clean rooms and breakfast and bar areas, with superb terrace, views over the new city and to the Pyrenees, but not the Old Town. Very friendly helpful staff. Best advantage for us was the free parking, many other similar rated hotels rely on expensive public car parks. It take less than 10 minutes to walk to the start of the Ramblas and about 15 minutes to walk back up, but if you are at the top end of the town, at the cathedral or the walls, then you can cut across and avoid much of the climb back to the hotel.
