We stayed here three nights with breakfast. It was less than five minutes walk from the railway station and close to the beach and the centre of town. Rooms were fairly standard but shower was excellent and the double bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good. There is a spa in the basement of the hotel but strangely it only opened at 5 p.m. which is very strange as there was no lifeguard or other staff on duty so it was not closed to reduce staff costs.
Don't like bigger group hotels, but this was part of a BA package holiday. Couldn't fault Hotel, staff very helpful and overall standards of room, bathroom, service and breakfast very good. Situated next door to railway station and about 10-15 minute walk to old town / town centre. Some local restaurants very close by if you don't want to walk far. Recommended. Would happily go to again.
Stayed for four nights. Staff where most helpfull . Hotel was spotless same with the rooms enjoyed the tea and coffee in the morning in restaurant , we where very fortunate the cycle race was in town which was a ten min walk .overall experiance was fantastic will be returning next year .thanking you
The hotel is only about a 8-10 minute walk from the local beach and some 15 minutes from the main shopping area. It has an indoor pool and sauna. Very tidy and clean with secure parking underground for 9 euros a night. It is adjacent to the main station also. Nice clean airy rooms with an excellent bathroom with air conditioning. Friendly staff on reception, with knowledge of where to go, and they will supply a map. The only thing I thought was expensive was the breakfast which was quoted at 14 euros per person, which we declined.
Starting the review early, second day of six, just had the most wonderful day. Breakfast in local cafe, walk through the old town, the lovely peninsula with the remains of the defences and then came across the red bull wings challenge with the men in their flying machines. Tofinish off had the most wonderful evenings looking over Gijon, Excellent service and one of the best hotel meals I can remember. Silken Bilbao. I started with a lovely appetiser, fish croquette, then a lovely goats cheese on toast, a lovely rare but hot steak, followed by delicious rice pudding and then Susan's chocolate mousse and ice cream. A nice white wine and bottle of water. Excellent meal, Excellent service and excellent price. We repeated this twice more and me a third time, Susan happy with just a salad. The food did not let us down once. A lovely room for six nights, spotless and a lovely bath even if it was slow to fill. Great air conditioning and being on the fifth floor easy access to the sitting area with computer and more importantly views over the city. The cafe was very nice, beer a little small but hey can't have everything. Next door to the train station, a walk to the Alsa bus station. See last review re Oviedo. Staff here were Beautiful in everything they did, from check in to check out. Restaurant,Cafe, domestic ii and reception. We had a great time in Gijon and the friendliness of the locals continued. Where else do you get a lady downloading an app just to find out what bus stop and what time.
The hotel met our expectations although it was a bit far from San Lorenzo beach. I would have liked more vegetables at the breakfast buffet and better options from room service. The toiletries were very abundant which was a nice surprise.
The place is awesome , really clean , near from downtown and poniente beach . 1km far from San Lorenzo beach . Attention is awesome , rooms too and the spa and pool are small but really cool and chill
Hotel is indeed a bit awkwardly placed in Gijon - however taxis are cheap and walking can also be an option. Looks much larger in their photos than in reality but on the plus side, rooms look much better and roomier in reality rather than their pictures. Beds are large and comfy, rooms are quiet and clean - overall fair room prices. The only disappointment could perhaps be the extra charges for pool caps and bathrobe rental fee upon using the pool - we felt that these should have been offered free of charge from our experiences in other hotels. We also thought that the bar and restaurant area could have been managed and presented better. Spa is small but hosts were super welcoming. The massage was okay - fairly priced. Staff has been overall accommodating to our needs and informative.
Good location next to train station with a 10 minute walk to city centre. Excellent spa facilities which are a real bonus particularly with the not uncommon rainy Asturian weather! A free welcome drink was a nice touch. Not the cheapest but good value compared to other comparable choices in Gijon.
I came here based on "trips" ratings - underwhelmed - sad- disappointed and frankly quite angry. I have no hidden agenda - just an awful experience I hope won't be answered with a cut and paste " thank you for taking your time to write up" The room was clean - the bed - pillows etc no problem - even though the tabaco aroma was more than evident in the room. Bathroom sparkled ( congrats to housekeeping ) Reception staff correct - profesional. Official price list not visible in the bar area - room service not available till 8,30pm despite the leaflet in the room ! ( I asked for a burger or something at 3,3O ish and was told no. Location - neither seafront - or central - weirdly positioned. And now - "I have never been spoken to , or treat so rudely as I was last evening by a bartender who forgot to give me my change. After requesting the 3 euros I was told that I was trying to rip him off and that I shouldn't make a scene for 3 euros. I was flabbergasted. A) I wasn't making a scene - I asked quietly for my change. After suffering his quietly spoken ( so know one else would hear) insults I asked for the reclamation sheet - which was handed to me with a " here fill it in - fill it in" ( rellena - rellena ) I'm fairly travelled - this is not the way to treat guests !
