We arrived late evening and were met by a very polite, helpful front desk lady. She got us checked in quickly and efficiently. Our room was clean and beautiful. We were totally pleased with our stay. Our room was well appointed and decorated - nothing missing. Very immaculate bathroom and lots of hot water, high quality towels and product.
This was an odd overnight stay. Upon arrival there was no one at the front desk. After several minutes I called the hotel and listened to the phone ring 8-10 times with no response. Took a seat in the lobby and waited. Eventually the front desk clerk arrived without explanation or apology. Got our room and found sheets bumbled in the closet, partially full ice bucket, and a bag of chips in the fridge. Hmmm. Called the front desk to see if maybe the room wasn't cleaned, but no answer. It was late and we were tired, so didn't pursue. Bed was comfy and room was quiet. Also on the plus side, the free breakfast was pretty good, although lady was rushed to keep things replenished. She was friendly and kept up.
Where to start. The room lacked linens for our daughter (later resolved), the TV was not HD with little channel selection and poor picture quality, a toilet valve leaked severely. The breakfast experience was the worse in my decades of staying at Marriott. There were no eggs, few pastries, no English muffins, no milk for cereal or coffee. Even yogurts and fruit were in short supply. The lady at the front desk apologized, stating that the manager had not ordered breakfast supplies in days. The facility though was clean, but in need of an upgrade. I will avoid in the future.
I've stayed here on multiple occasions and have had mixed experiences; however, during my most recent stay, Lizzie went above and beyond expectations to ensure I had a pleasant experience. She was attentive, thoughtful and ensured my room preferences were accommodated. After a negative experience at this hotel last year, I was very impressed and thankful for Lizzie's hospitality.
Room was clean and neat. Albeit no soap or shampoo. There are many places to have a meal whether it's fast food or fine dining. Speaking of meal...the breakfast at the hotel was mediocre at best No fruit or yogurt or variety of eggs.
Driving north and needing an overnight stay, we booked the Fairfield Inn in Chambersburg, these inns are always a good option. Disappointed however. Our room was typical, but the inn didn't inform us that they ran out of staples of soap, shampoo, and conditioner. Made coffee in the morning, found that the little bags of condiments had been opened and missing pieces. The mini fridge only cooled for 2 hours, effectively making it useless. Will not return to this location in the future, sorry to say.
We ended up here for one night as we were attending an event at one of the local churches. Our room was clean, the heater worked, the bathroom was clean, and the bed was clean and comfortable. They had the normal breakfast service you are used to getting at a Fairfield Inn....no surprises there. If you want a more substantial breakfast, a Cracker Barrel is right next door or Bob Evans not even 5 mins away....its close to I-81... Seems like they have fixed some of the issues others complained about in 2017 posts
The people were extremely kind! A young man working the desk Sunday the 4th at 11am was extremely helpful. We did, however, have some issues with the rooms. We had a phone in our room and my family’s connecting room, but there was no cord connecting either one to the wall. There were no blankets on the beds and when we called (on my cell phone) for some, it took 30 minutes as we waited up late at night and we were brought sheets. It wouldn’t have been an issue if the temperature unit worked. There were 2 temperatures- baking hot or frigid. Also the comforters were not washed and had some crusty food on it. We had no tissues in the tissue box and the shower had some gross potentially pubic hairs on the wall. The shower pressure and temperature was pretty good though. I wouldn’t have been upset if it was just me, however I was concerned about cleanliness as I was traveling with my disabled and immuno-compromised mother. Also we went for breakfast at 9:20 (40 minutes before closing) and much of the food was out and was not replenished in the buffet despite there being about 15 people in there still trying to eat. We also were concerned about our neighbors smoking inside the non-smoking hotel. It was difficult to deal with the issues as we were all quite exhausted from arranging and coordinating my grandmother’s funeral. Probably will go back to the Holiday Inn Express next time.
I am a Marriott Gold Elite member and have stayed at many different Marriott properties. On New Year's Day 2018, while driving at night, my son and I checked into this property at approx. 01:30 AM. We were assigned room 321. When going to bed I noted that the sheets were wrinkled and found a hair and a down feather beneath the covers. I didn't think much of it as the sheets could have gone through a wash cycle with these things. The following morning, prior to checking out, I saw a red-and-green Christmas decorated sock beneath my son's bed. I brought it downstairs thinking that it must have been pushed beneath the bed by the housekeeper's vacuum. I gave it to the front clerk at check out in the event that the prior guest called about the missing sock, it could be returned to them. When I gave the sock to the front clerk and said that I had found it beneath my son's bed, my son stated, "Oh, that sock was in the bed, I just kicked it out from under the covers." The front clerk was properly apologetic. Coincidentally, the clerk was on the phone with the manager at the time (late morning of New Year's Day) and informed the manager. The clerk said that the manager would credit the stay back to me the following day upon returning to work. I just received an automatically generated email thanking me for my stay and charging me the full amount for the room. Upon checking my credit card online I note that no refund was ever issued. Based on the fact that there was a dirty sock in my son's bed, and the wrinkled sheets, hair and feather I found in my bed, I believe that this hotel's housekeeping standards are unacceptable and not hygienic. As an aside, this hotel reportedly serves breakfast until 9 AM on weekdays and 10 AM on weekends. I mistakenly assumed that breakfast would be served until 10 AM on a legal holiday such as New Year's Day. Apparently Monday to Friday is Monday to Friday regardless of whether or not a holiday falls during those days. When I arrived at the breakfast bar at 10:05 AM there was not a morsel of food anywhere to be had. With respect to room soundproofing I would rate this property as average. Guests in the hallway and cars in the front lot were readily audible. I would advise checking the room out thoroughly upon arrival to this property.
I stayed here with friends when we went to visit Gettysburg. The staff was absolutely lovely from the moment we walked in, our room was pretty clean (although a friend did find dirt in her bed), and the room had heat that worked very well (thank goodness - it was freezing that weekend!). Other than a few minor issues in the room (dirt in the bed, shower not being entirely clean, not having a garbage can in the room), the major issue we had was breakfast. We chose this hotel knowing it had breakfast. We knew that it was about 35 minutes from Gettysburg, but still chose this hotel because of breakfast and the time it would save us in the long run. Unfortunately, there was no breakfast. We got downstairs our first day there (a Friday) and were shocked that there was barely any food there. They only had one type of juice as the orange, apple, and cranberry were all out. They had a waffle maker and syrup, a few pieces of bread to make toast, and butter for that toast. That was it.The next morning, a Saturday, there were more options. Some eggs, cereal options, and a few pieces of fruit. From what we were told, they were changing services, but upon looking at reviews, they've been doing this for quite some time now and these kinks should be worked out.
