We ended up here for one night as we were attending an event at one of the local churches. Our room was clean, the heater worked, the bathroom was clean, and the bed was clean and comfortable. They had the normal breakfast service you are used to getting at a Fairfield Inn....no surprises there. If you want a more substantial breakfast, a Cracker Barrel is right next door or Bob Evans not even 5 mins away....its close to I-81... Seems like they have fixed some of the issues others complained about in 2017 posts
The people were extremely kind! A young man working the desk Sunday the 4th at 11am was extremely helpful. We did, however, have some issues with the rooms. We had a phone in our room and my family’s connecting room, but there was no cord connecting either one to the wall. There were no blankets on the beds and when we called (on my cell phone) for some, it took 30 minutes as we waited up late at night and we were brought sheets. It wouldn’t have been an issue if the temperature unit worked. There were 2 temperatures- baking hot or frigid. Also the comforters were not washed and had some crusty food on it. We had no tissues in the tissue box and the shower had some gross potentially pubic hairs on the wall. The shower pressure and temperature was pretty good though. I wouldn’t have been upset if it was just me, however I was concerned about cleanliness as I was traveling with my disabled and immuno-compromised mother. Also we went for breakfast at 9:20 (40 minutes before closing) and much of the food was out and was not replenished in the buffet despite there being about 15 people in there still trying to eat. We also were concerned about our neighbors smoking inside the non-smoking hotel. It was difficult to deal with the issues as we were all quite exhausted from arranging and coordinating my grandmother’s funeral. Probably will go back to the Holiday Inn Express next time.
I am a Marriott Gold Elite member and have stayed at many different Marriott properties. On New Year's Day 2018, while driving at night, my son and I checked into this property at approx. 01:30 AM. We were assigned room 321. When going to bed I noted that the sheets were wrinkled and found a hair and a down feather beneath the covers. I didn't think much of it as the sheets could have gone through a wash cycle with these things. The following morning, prior to checking out, I saw a red-and-green Christmas decorated sock beneath my son's bed. I brought it downstairs thinking that it must have been pushed beneath the bed by the housekeeper's vacuum. I gave it to the front clerk at check out in the event that the prior guest called about the missing sock, it could be returned to them. When I gave the sock to the front clerk and said that I had found it beneath my son's bed, my son stated, "Oh, that sock was in the bed, I just kicked it out from under the covers." The front clerk was properly apologetic. Coincidentally, the clerk was on the phone with the manager at the time (late morning of New Year's Day) and informed the manager. The clerk said that the manager would credit the stay back to me the following day upon returning to work. I just received an automatically generated email thanking me for my stay and charging me the full amount for the room. Upon checking my credit card online I note that no refund was ever issued. Based on the fact that there was a dirty sock in my son's bed, and the wrinkled sheets, hair and feather I found in my bed, I believe that this hotel's housekeeping standards are unacceptable and not hygienic. As an aside, this hotel reportedly serves breakfast until 9 AM on weekdays and 10 AM on weekends. I mistakenly assumed that breakfast would be served until 10 AM on a legal holiday such as New Year's Day. Apparently Monday to Friday is Monday to Friday regardless of whether or not a holiday falls during those days. When I arrived at the breakfast bar at 10:05 AM there was not a morsel of food anywhere to be had. With respect to room soundproofing I would rate this property as average. Guests in the hallway and cars in the front lot were readily audible. I would advise checking the room out thoroughly upon arrival to this property.
I stayed here with friends when we went to visit Gettysburg. The staff was absolutely lovely from the moment we walked in, our room was pretty clean (although a friend did find dirt in her bed), and the room had heat that worked very well (thank goodness - it was freezing that weekend!). Other than a few minor issues in the room (dirt in the bed, shower not being entirely clean, not having a garbage can in the room), the major issue we had was breakfast. We chose this hotel knowing it had breakfast. We knew that it was about 35 minutes from Gettysburg, but still chose this hotel because of breakfast and the time it would save us in the long run. Unfortunately, there was no breakfast. We got downstairs our first day there (a Friday) and were shocked that there was barely any food there. They only had one type of juice as the orange, apple, and cranberry were all out. They had a waffle maker and syrup, a few pieces of bread to make toast, and butter for that toast. That was it.The next morning, a Saturday, there were more options. Some eggs, cereal options, and a few pieces of fruit. From what we were told, they were changing services, but upon looking at reviews, they've been doing this for quite some time now and these kinks should be worked out.
They're changing vendors for the breakfast service, and didn't have any breakfast while I was there. They said the would give a discount on the room rate, but I had already paid, so I'll have to wait for my credit card statement to see what they gave. But room was pleasant and comfortable and clean. Very convenient location, just far enough away from highway 81 to avoid traffic noise. I'll give them another try.
Worst Marriott property ever. Do not stay here. No breakfast as promoted. Coffee maker in room didn't work. Rude and obnoxious manager. Coffee maker in room did not work. Been a faithfull Marriott client for many years. This place gives Marriott a bad rep.
Was looking for nice, clean place near highway for one overnight while family traveled. Chose Fairfield in Chambersburg for these reasons, and because breakfast is included... However, when checking in we were informed there will be no breakfast because the hotel "changing vendors." To make up for this, you supposedly get 10% off next door at Cracker Barrel. Lol...someone forgot to mention this to the Cracker Barrel cashiers... Likewise, some guests aren't being told at check-in about the breakfast 'situation.' Overall, the place is clean, quiet and worth the rate but the staff, though polite, come up way short...
Usually we enjoy our Marriott stay but not this trip. No continental breakfast as changing vendors. You think they could have provided muffins or fruit!! Coffee was available but second morning no cups!!! Eventually find one . Half and half to use was virtually empty with no other in sight.Gym lacked wipes to clean equipment and floor mats for exercises. Truck traffic is wicked if your room located near distribution road . Windows have black mold and curtain rod was broke and just lying on sill. Front desk staff eating MacDonald ‘s in lobby and bag still there hours later. Front desk were nice but not professional.Smoking allowed by front door as you entered!! Housekeeping staff smoking near side door when they could have been dusting!!! We were glad to leave!!!
This is going to be a very short and simple review. Nice hotel, The A/C in the room sounded like a 747. I had to shut it off in order to get some sleep. Likewise make sure you save $20 bucks to eat breakfast next door at Cracker Barrel. The breakfast buffet is the worst I have ever experienced at an Marriott branch hotel. They had no eggs, orange or apple juice, pastries, fruit, coffee tasted like brown water, waffle maker was broken. Although they did have one yogurt, not one type of yogurt I mean one yogurt. When I ask the front desk clerk if they were going to restock the breakfast bar, he said that's all they had. Really and for this I paid $150 dollars a night? I wrote the GM Sarh Giberson (Sarah.email@example.com) and got no reply. Save your money there are other hotels for much less that give you much more. And yes I am a Platinum Marriott Member with over 100 stays at Marriott's this year alone. And this was the worst PERIOD.
I am a Marriott gold member and former Marriott employee and this is the second time I’ve stayed at this Fairfield Inn, and it will be my last. If you are used to Marriotts quality and friendly staff you will not find it here. As I left this morning only one very nice housekeeping staff even said good morning. The front desk staff sitting in there chairs could not be bothered to get up and greet a guest. They could not even bother to tell me the elevator was broken. This was the same affective behavior I received on our last visit, but we decided to give them another chance. I am now hoping a call to Marriott will wake up the management team about the issues at this property.
