Hotel Windsor

The hotel provides a comfortable, modern and clean environment in the train station district. The streets around are not very nice but it only two blocks to the grand lakefront promenades, and there are a few good restaurants available.

Very basic accommodation. Located right at the middle of the red light district.

The staff was very helpful and very nice. However, we experienced two issues that deserve to be brought up. First the bathroom sink was terribly clogged and wouldn't drain; which should of been caught before having someone checkin. And second, the mattress was very uncomfortable and felt like something one would sleep on in a hostel. Again though, the front desk staff at checkin and checkout were very friendly and allowed a very easy stay during a short time in Geneva.

Small cosy and clean room with excellent staff. Over all my years of teavel, perhaps I can say that Lucas the Front Desk Manager is someone I will not forget. He gave me excellent advice on getting around, best places to eat and even helping me out with my airplane reservations.

The Windsor is situated near the lake in Geneva, amidst restaurants of all types and ethnicities, shopping, and only a 5 minute walk from the main train station (Cornavin). We stayed for 4 nights and we found it very central to everything we wanted to see. It's in the older, central part of Geneva. Many of the buildings are being renovated. The staff is knowledgeable and very generous. They offered directions, arranged for a taxi for us, etc. The rooms are small, though the ones with the art work (which our friends had) are larger. We found our room comfortable and efficient. There are dozens of old, very lavish hotels along the lake front at which we'd have paid 10 - 20 times what we paid at the Windsor. Included in the nightly fee is a lovely breakfast and a chit for free transportation on the train to/from the airport, the trams, and the buses. Be aware that between the hotel and the lake there are 2-3 blocks that contain sex shops and in which there is prostitution. We were never solicited by the women or the shops. It was all quite low-key. We would return to stay at the Windsor.

one night my pillow did not have a pillow case. I thought this was neglect on the part of the cleaning staff. I had to use a sarong to cover my pillow.

Staff were very nice. The street is a bit dangerous.

While the Windsor was comfortable and met all the basic needs, it definitely is lacking in some ways. The decor was somewhat depressing, being much black & gray. The staff was not overly friendly, though nice enough. The women of the street out the window provided sad entertainment. The rooms were bare minimum, but the beds & pillows comfortable, and I know there are people that have so much less in the world, so I wouldn't complain! Overall it met our needs, but I would probably stay somewhere else if I were to visit Geneva again.

Very nice hotel. The location is central and near the station but just in the middle of a not too nice area. Beautiful room and very comfortable. Good breakfast! Elevators really small and Wi-Fi is free but the signal doesn't make it all the way to the sixth floor (where I was)!

I enjoyed staying here for my first time visiting Geneva. It's easy to find from the train station and there are many shops and restaurants nearby. The decor is modern and very clean and feels new. The rooms are small but well designed. Free wifi and free continental breakfast. I enjoyed staying here and would definitely recommend to other travelers.

Having stayed in other hotels for business near the center of Geneva (between the railroad station and the lake) I was quite satisfied with the Windsor. I stayed 3 nights and would gladly stay again. The single room was small (typical for Geneva) but very clean, neat and quiet, and less than half the price of other hotels in the area. Free Wi-Fi, free breakfast and air-conditioning are not standard in other hotels, as they are at the Windsor. The front of the hotel fronts a not-so-great block, but the hotel's got a back entrance which is on the next block - and this is a better street and even closer to the City Center.

Dear Anoymous: The new owners and the new managers aware of that have planned the closing of the Hotel the third quarter of 2017 in order to refurbish totally the Hotel. For the Red Light district, it is not in our power to make more discreet or to make it disappear. If you stayed with us for business purposes the situation of the Hotel is one of the best you can find in Geneva. In a radius of 300 meters you reach the most important of Geneva's business center. For International institutions the same. Best regards Loucas LALOS NIGHT AUDITOR
