The g Hotel & Spa5.0 out of 5.0

This is a swanky hotel and everything about it is top notch. Very nicely appointed throughout. Wonderful linens made for a nice night's sleep. The breakfast (roughly 18€) is quite big and for a high end hotel, not the most expensive breakfast I've had. All staff were over the top helpful. We ate dinner in the restaurant. The steak was excellent. The lamb chops were a bit on the skimpy side. But, overall, a lovely dinner.
We visited the G hotel for 2 nights away for my sisters birthday. The staff were excellent, even left a card and treat in my sisters upgraded room. They were patient and accomodating with our last minute changes. The food was excellent, Michelin star quality!!! Cocktails were delicious and value for money. If you have a group do the cocktail demonstration it is excellent and value for money. The spa is amazing! The thermal suites you will not want to leave and we had massages which were so relaxing and had me floating out. We walked to Eyre square and the Spanish arch within 15 minutes.
It was our first wedding anniversary and I decided that it would be a lovely surprise for my wife to stay in a top hotel. I booked a luxury room and when we got there we were bumped up to a suite free of charge. Couldn't fault the service or the food. We had complementary iced muffins in our room, very fancy :) Well worth a nights stay
Stayed at the g hotel for 2 nights midweek with my wife.Advertises as a 5 star but I'm not so sure about that . More like a 4 star to us . Breakfast was nice and the lounges were decorated to a high standard. The staff were excellent and a 15 minute walk to Galway city centre. Would recommend this hotel but maybe not 5 star.
If you are that girlfriend that has to bring your man away in a panic (because you forgot his Christmas present 🎁) then The G hotel is not the spot for you. Book anywhere else and you will look like you put a bit more effort in ! I stupidly presumed that a 5 star hotel would be in five star grounds but no, your next door to Home Store & More, Petmania and a Woodies should the sudden urge of home improvements come across you. However, the staff are very nice and the food is good, along with a great cocktail menu in a very slick bar before dinner. The Spa is ok but probably a little over priced. It's a short spin to Galway city and the rooms are nice even if the view isn't great. Overall it's a great example of an Irish property boom folly. A lot of money spent building a 5 star hotel on a terrible site, which now, 10-15 years down the line (and it feels its age in places), makes you wonder what they were thinking.
We stayed here recently for a break and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, food, rooms and staff but unfortunately the spa let you down. When we go in a spa break we like to spend as much or little time as we like in the spa area using the facilities. This is not possible at the g, you have to book and pay for a one hour slot. I found this list unusual and off putting. Apart from this the hotel and our stay was very good.
Came as a group of six and all had a wonderful time. We were in the pink room which was a lovely setting and really comfy. We had the afternoon tea and it was lovely. There was plenty of food for a lunch and it was gorgeous. The waiter was super and always there to check the teas and coffes. We stayed 4 hours so it was well worth the €23! We would definitely go back :-)
The positives The staff were excellent The food was delicious The Negatives Didn't understand why two people sharing a twin room have to pay more than two people sharing a double. No pool The dark corridors and multicoloured decor not to my taste Found the pictures of naked bodies in the restaurant off putting when dining
The G hotel is a large hotel a short bus ride from the center of Galway. It is international in style meaning it does not reflect the local culture and could be anywhere. It is probably better suited for meetings or other business travel than for touring in that it is somewhat generic, despite its "cool" modern look and feel. We were her as part of a vacation and if I came to Galway on holiday again I'd probably stay somewhere else. Having said that, the room was spacious and comfortable with a great bed. The service was excellent. The food was good but not terribly exciting. The bar had a decent selection of Irish Whiskeys and other whiskeys as well. The gym is well equipped and there is a spa if spa offering a variety of spa treatments. My only complaint is that from time to time we could hear our next door neighbor's TV or that they were on the phone.
My wife and I stayed here for a small mini-moon after our wedding. We were not disappointed at all. This hotel is just amazing to say the least, from the staff, rooms, bar, restaurant to the spa. We had an absolutely amazing time here and would love to come back again. Everything is just so perfect around the whole building. The rooms were amazing and one of the best we've stayed in yet. The bar and restaurant had a great selection of drinks to enjoy and the food was absolutely lovely. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. Anything you want or need they are more than happy to accommodate.
