The host contacted us an hour before check-in to say there had been a crawfish boil and she couldn’t get the smell out. She asked if we wanted her to do anything about it, and I asked if she could at least light a candle.When we arrived, the listing was very misleading. It was not a ten-minute walk from the pier, and there was black mold and a roach in the shower. The dishwasher was broken, and the house relied on window A/C units that didn’t cool the space. It was still hot in the bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen. The fridge was dirty with gnats inside.The door lock wouldn’t lock, and the top-floor door was completely unlocked, which felt unsafe. The host didn’t answer our calls and only texted back. Vrbo wasn’t helpful either—the representative put us on a confusing three-way call with the host, and both kept saying the other was responsible for our refund.We eventually left and found another place to stay. Vrbo later said the host didn’t want to be bothered until Monday.Overall, I wouldn’t stay here or book with this host again. It was my first time using the app, and probably my last after this experience.

We almost left and got a hotel. Checkin information wasn’t sent until I sent the host a message sometime after checkin. I wasn’t expecting the Hilton, but the description made this house sound like something it wasn’t. Now I know why there wasn’t many pictures, there wasn’t any reviews either.The listing says 1 Bedroom, 2 Bathrooms. Incorrect, there is no 2nd bathroom. A huge issue with this house that wasn’t mentioned is the only way to access the 2nd story without having to go outside and climb steep stairs is a narrow spiral staircase that takes you from the kitchen down stairs to the rest of the house up stairs. With bad hips I struggled with this, if I had small children this would have been a nightmare. The house itself is very old, needs TLC, bathroom was not put together good, doors didn’t close good, if at all, the fans and window units made it noisy and didn’t help with the humid feeling at night.The wash cloths smelled like wet dog. We picked this house for the location and the driveway. Between the 4 of us we had 3 vehicles, we didn’t want to park on the road if we could help it. So we rented the house with a driveway. Only to discover that we share the driveway with the house next door. The neighbor parked in front of our rental both nights instead of parking in front of his house with a sidewalk up to his door. Unfortunately he got blocked in when we went out. A description with signed parking for each house would have been appropriate.
