The hotel is very nice and they did a terrific job updating the room while maintaining the charm.

We enjoyed a night away for our anniversary and Hotel Julien was the perfect place. The front desk was so accommodating and immediately snapped to attention when a guest arrived, welcoming them or seeing how they could help. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We already are planning another stay!

We have stayed here many times. It is our place to go for a girl's getaway. We love the location as we can walk to many restaurants, shops, and casino. It is an old and elegant hotel that we enjoy.

Beautifully restored, historic hotel. Impressed with everything thing associated with this hotel. Lots of space in a double queen room, bathroom was spacious and spotless. Robes in the closet! I walked to Mass at the Cathedral and then we had a wonderful breakfast...more food than either of us could eat!

Lovely hotel. Nice to be in a unique place that is not part of a chain

Staff was accommodating to our needs quickly had coupons too!!

In town for work. Nice to see a vibrant hotel. Lots of folks in the lounge and a great breakfast.

Great location and Exceptional staff!!! Magnificent Spa experience as well.

I was surprised when the check-in clerk said that we had a prepaid Expedia reservation. I did not know my reservation was prepaid and I did not book through Expedia. Confusing. Otherwise, stay was great.

Almost stuck twice in elevator told staff but not fixed by next day and not marked as out of order many guests almost scared to use it. Room was clean and very nice

We wanted a nice place to stay for an overnight getaway, we found it. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is older but has been renovated, keeping it up to date. It's even located near many of the area attractions.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Julien. The price was reasonable, and the hotel is very nice. The beds are comfortable, and the rooms are clean and modern. The area around the hotel is a little seedy, with tattoo parlors and bars. Drunks from the bars shouted at each other in the street below until 2:00AM each of the 3 nights of our stay. But there are some nice restraints nearby. If you like a lively downtown environment, this is the place for you.

Dubuque is a wonderful area to visit! Hotel Julien offers an upscale quiet retreat at the end of a fun filled day.

Nice hotel and restaurant. Made a pleasant stay and close to everything.

The hotel was gorgeous, I like the old style buildings with their historic feel to them. They just feel so much warmer and inviting, Hotel Julien was decorated so beautifully for Christmas, we had our picture taken in front of the massive tree in the lobby. The rooms were perfect, the beds were wonderful, the mattress was firm but like a pillow, loved it! We will definitely stay here the next time we come to Dubuque!

Stayed in the single Queen executive suite. Everything was clean and spotless. None of the amenities were missing. The TV was mounted on the wall at the end of the room and made it hard to watch. The switches on the lamps at either side of the bed were glitchy but they both worked. The bed was comfortable with lots of pillows...Nice! The room furnace was noisy and the thermostat buttons didn't work properly. I had to play with the thermostat for awhile before I could adjust the temperature in the room. There was very little water pressure in the shower and no tub which I missed because I like a bath. I had a city view but I could only see a little of it. A roof and the highway got in the way. I got a good deal on this room but wouldn't pay full price for it. I think this is one of their deal rooms.

When discribing the room it should be required to mention that the price given is a window or non window room at this hotel for we had an inside room which had no window and was like being in a cave. Yes, we could have changed and got a window room bor $50.00 additional but for those prices we could stay in much better hotel. I will never stay in that hotel again.

Very comfortable bed and great views of the Mississippi River. The towels were soft, not the typical scratchy white towels that most hotels have. And the pillows were full size! Not the half size pillows that I roll off of all night. Our room had the largest jacuzzi tub I've ever seen. Four people could have fit in it. The breakfast was great and the staff were very friendly.

Nice and spotlessly clean--and the staff are attentive and eager to make your experience a good one. The room service does close earlier than I expected, but I guess everything did in Dubuque, IA.

Nicely renovated hotel. The room was large but the fact that the room had no window was disconcerting. There really was not enough light in the room. If we stay here again, we're going to specify a room with a window!
