The manager/owner was not very friendly, but I'm ok with that. The room was fairly clean but we sensed the dark color carpets throughout the hotel were holding a lot of dirt. The place just did not smell clean. We were there on a humid day/evening and the room felt much like a sauna throughout the night. The fan/air conditioning unit was very noisy. Sheets were extremely thin and a polyester blend so it was not comfortable. Towels were very undersized. One of the three pillows was covered by a disgusting pillow case that revealed a stained pillow underneath. Also, the breakfast was pathetic. Mostly sugary donuts and sugary orange juice/apple juice. Probably the worst breakfast table I have ever seen and I am pretty reasonable. Absolutely no healthy choices... not even an English muffin or bagel. Everything was hugely sugary. I really wanted to like this place but found nothing to redeem it. Sorry.

The front desk man was very nice and very accommodating - I needed a room with a refrigerator and he made sure it happened. The lady who was working at breakfast was cheerful and helpful. Nice selection of breakfast. Wireless internet had strong signal. My room was clean, as was the bed linens and bathroom. The grounds around the hotel need a lot of winter garbage clean-up and that detracted from the nice look of the large yard (no complaint - it was a long winter). Easy on and off from Hwy 61.

The room at this hotel had a number of problems. The bed was hard and worn, pillows were flat, there was mold in the shower/tub, dust was on top of appliances. I'm a 50 year old farmer and can put up with quite a bit, but this was not worth the price at all.

The cost of the room was did not compair to the lack of quality. When we first went into the room, we killed a bug crawling on the floor! there was a refigerator in the room that was not clean. The drapes were hanging off the hooks and had holes in them. A old hotel that needs work. Overall, we have had much nicer rooms at other hotels.

We traveled to the Econolodge/Dubuque,IA from a Ramada Inn in Bettendorf, IA, also booked through [...]. The Ramada was very nice, and only $ll more, so coming to the Econolodge was a letdown. The room was a bit beat up. There was only one nightstand so we used the wobbly desk chair as a makeshift nightstand. The bathroom was very clean and the breakfast offered a nice variety. The driveway into the parking lot had a very steep incline causing the car to bump no matter how slow we went. It is close to Dubuque and fast-food restaurants as well as a Japanese steakhouse. The TV did not have very many channels but there were enough. We chose it for the location and price but would think twice about going there again. The personnel were pleasant people and the king size bed was firm.

good clean

This is a very nice motel, convienent to Dubuque. The staff recommended a place for dinner that was top notch. We would definitely stay here again if ever in the area.

Great location; we spent the day shopping in Galena and spent the evening at the casino. Shuttle service to and from the casino was great. Staff was very friendly and helped arrange the casino shuttle for us. Beds were comfortable. Parking lot and entrance road needs a little work. Room appeared clean but it had a strange smell -- seemed like it aired out by morning.

Good experience. Very friendly staff, Had "extras" like fresh popcorn and cookies in the lobby.

This was a great room at a low price. We will definately stay there again. One of the best hotels in the area.

We arrived after a long drive and wanted to go straight to the room and relax. Check in was easy, the staff was very friendly and let us know if we needed anything let them know. When we got to the room it was nice and clean. That night it was nice and quiet. We were very happy with our experience and would gladly stay here again.

This was our first time going to a casino and we really had fun, especially with the coupon the hotel gave us!We also were close enough to shop in Galena and enjoyed that as well.It wasn't super fancy but it was just what we wanted.

We visited for the weekend of Loras Homecoming and were looking for a comfortable and affordable hotel. The location was pretty isolated from Dubuque and all the restaurants and services on Highway 20 (the hotel is in Key West and it took about 5 minutes to get to the downtown district via the highway) but it was nice that the rooms were very quiet even though they were next to a busy highway. Even with the distance, the money saved on the rate was larger than the extra gas to go drive into Dubuque. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were super clean. The beds were very comfortable and the blankets and towels were plentiful. The only thing was that the pillows were soft and worn and there were only three on a king-sized bed. The breakfast was decent for an economy hotel. There are also 5 restaurants and two gas stations within walking distance. The value was great and we had a very relaxing stay. This is a great hotel for travelers on a tight budget.

(1)We went to a wedding in town so we were not in the room except to sleep but it was a very comfortable bed.(2)N/A (3) The bed in this hotel was so comfortable. I have never slept on a bed this comfortable in a hotel before.

the whirlpool suite was very nice, wish it had a pool. the staff was very friendly

let me start off by saying I rented a suite with a whirlpool because we were on a motorcycle trip and I enjoy relaxing after a days riding in the whirl pool. Well after we checked in to the room and relaxed a bit I attempted to fill the whirl pool the drain stopper would not work. after repeated attempts and searching for instructions as there maybe something about it I didn't understand I gave up. I took a shower and went to the desk where a young woman was working as Night manager? I told her of my problem and she seemed indifferent to me and did nothing. We went out and returned later thinking that something may have been fixed while we were gone..but no one had been to the room. We went to bed and were awakened at 3AM to a tapping noise. It came from the air conditioning system (BTW it only had one speed and the temp. control didn't seem to work). After some investigation I discovered the noise was coming from the outside...It seems the A/C unit, immediatly above us, was dripping its condensation on to the housing of our unit. I was able to open the window and place a towel on it to quiet the noise and finally get to sleep.. Oh, and regarding that...we were on a ground floor room and it was nothing to dismantle the window and gain entrance..!poor security. On the plus side, when I related this info to the day person in the morning they did adjust my room rate.

The bed was o.k. It was a king size and supported good. The parking lot leading to the property was a absolute disaster. It looked like the government used it for a practice bombing range. In the parking lot was the same. One had to really watch where to walk and drive lest one break a leg or an axle. The main corridor from our room to the lobby area smelled real bad --like--mold or stale body odor. This place is low rent all the way. It is not worth the price we paid.
