Staff were friendly and the location is very central and within easy walking of train stations, shopping and restaurants. Try some of the side alleys for groovy small eating places, Fukuoka people are very friendly and accommodating
Rooms are small but good enough for Single occupancy. It is clean and conveniently located. Check-in staffs are also polite and very helpful in many ways. They also have a nice breakfast spread. It's very basic but tasty and well prepared. Will definitely recommend this hotel for Single travellers or Business on budget.
Everything is dated but clean and relatively well maintained. If you are on low budget and intend to go out shopping and sightseeing at most time, then this could be the hotel for you. The hotel is located on the main street, so do expect some noise in the middle of the night and early morning. If you have heavy baggage, use the lift at Parco Department Store (exit 5) when you come out of Tenjin Station middle/central exit. The lift operates even outside of department store opening hours :-)
we just booked a semi double room, but there's an additional long sofa in the room, very large room. 5-10 mins walk to those department store and Aeon supermarket. the car park didn't fit when your car over 1.5m, need to go partnership car park, but quite far away, walk around 300m. 600 yen from 3pm to 11am the service from this hotel quite good, i made an order from internet and deliver to hotel, they help me to keep and fridge it until i check out because it can't be save in my room's fridge due to the size. excellent service One thing not very good about the wifi, it's not so stable.
Our room was not ready when we arrived at hotel at 3pm, check-in time. Room was small and dated. That's why its cheaper price compared to other hotels in the area. Pant press machine in room was not necessary. After our return from Beppu, we were allocated a bigger room, which was good size. But the wallpaper was peeling. Staff was helpful to accept our Don Quijote shopping delivery when we were still in Beppu. Lastly, a Shin-shin noodle shop opposite the Shrine behind the hotel serves excellent food.
The hotel is conveniently located close to the Tenjin station and is easily accessible from the airport. The entrance of the hotel is on the side street. There are many restaurants near by so we have not had a meal in the hotel. The room is of reasonable size but the cigarette smell is really strong even in our non-smoking room. There is an air-purifier-humidifier in the room so we had to turn it on all the time. We probably came from a village and did not realize one has to fill up a tank in the machine with water to make it work properly. The flashing red light finally got our attention and a full tank of water (probably 3 litre) will be consumed every day. This humidifier is no doubt an additional point for the hotel as it is really valuable in a dry season. We don't found this apparatus in another hotel that we stay near the Hakata JR station. Right across the street were many yatai (mobile food stall) with different types of local food. They were in operation only in the evening. Would probably stay in this hotel again in our next Fukuoka trip.
The cigarette smell is strong in our room. The bed is hard and the sheets are not fresh. The toilet bidet is outdated. They allow luggage storage upon check out. Lobby has one - 3 seater sofa only. Receptionist recommended a good ramen resto "shin shin" located at the back alley, just be prepared for long queuing. Shopping malls are very near. Subway exit 1 is 200 meters away. We we could not find the elevator or escalator so we drag our luggage up the stairs. Bus terminal to airport is about 700 meters from hotel.
This hotel is so close to Tenjin station, which connects to the airport. We arrived at close to 2 pm, intending to just drop the bag and wonder around (the usual check-in time in Japan is 3.00 pm). To our surprise, the receptionist allowed us to check in. Thanks so much for being considerate! We really needed it after a long journey. The room was clean and as requested we got top floor room (for the view and quietness). One thing one should beware is that Tenjin is so full of tall buildings. Upon getting out from the subway station, it may not be so easy to notice the hotel building. Bring along the map to arrive. Clue: at a junction of the road there is a man-height box-shaped signage written on it HOTEL ASCENT. In case you wonder what to do within walking distance of this hotel, just get into the subway station and look for the underground city; a quite massive shopping area with modern design. Even the toilets are uniquely designed.
We visited Fukuoka for the Annual Convention of The International Association of Lions Clubs. We stayed a night in this hotel on arrival. It has small rooms like all other Japanese hotels and a small bathroom too. There was no room boy to take luggage to rooms! Of course, the staff members are very courteous, but they lack knowledge of English language. The rooms were neat and clean and the breakfast also reasonably good
I booked 2 small double, non-smoking rooms on Agoda and was given two small rooms and SMOKING. When we showed the room type on Agoda's site(small double is bigger; every room on Agoda's site says non-smoking), hotel staff told us that 1. this is a SMOKING hotel we don't have non-smoking rooms. 2. non-smoking rooms are considered "special request" to be accommodated. 3. there was no available rooms that night. I did a search on various booking sites on the same check-in/out date we had, every sites showed empty rooms available. They did not seem to care about the misrepresentation on agoda. They considered it as a customer's problem. Rooms were stinky and wifi barely works. Caution: Make sure your booking voucher says non-smoking rooms, otherwise there's no guarantee. This only applies in Japan I notice. I spoke to the manager about our reservation. He kept apologizing with his limited English, and told me please come back. Why would anyone in their right of mind repeat that awful experience again.
