Booked this hotel for February half term at the last minute without the amount of research I usually do. I wasn't expecting much but I have to say we really struck lucky and had a great stay. We were welcomed warmly on arrival and handed a welcome drink. Check in was great the lady we spoke to actually seemed to care that our stay would be good and took time to explain everything to us. We arrived at our room on the third floor, it had a brilliant sea view (we paid for this) The room had twin beds and a third camp bed for my daughter. Despite that there was plenty of room. The room also had two comfy chairs and a coffee table which we used for relaxing. Coffee/Tea and a daily chocolate was provided along with a kettle. There was also a modern TV, fridge and a wardrobe with enough coat hangers something that I find is rare on my travels. The bathroom was spacious with bath, shower, vanity area, sink, loo, bidet, shaving/makeup mirror and hairdryer. Perfect for our needs. Housekeeping came daily unless declined and kept the rooms lovely and clean. There was also a balcony with two chairs and table plus a drying rack to dry swim wear which came in handy since my daughter went to the pool twice some days! The sea view was worth booking it was nice to keep the patio doors open and listen to the sound of the sea at night. We were all inclusive and found this hotel to offer a proper AI experience unlike others we have experienced that don't. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were provided buffet style each day. Every taste was catered for, if you are a fish lover you are especially catered for - Yum. But the spread provided was amazing. Dinner each night had a theme which was nice. I especially enjoyed Spanish night when all types of sea food was provided (there was other options for people that don't like that so don't worry) They did an amazing effort for Valentines day and my husband and I had our first meal out on Valentines Say in 20 years feeling quite special. My daughter loved the food - there was plenty for children and she put on quite a lot of weight since it was delicious. I had read reviews of cold food before we went - I don't know where these came from?? Most food was cooked in front of you - grilled chicken, fish, meat etc and served piping hot. The only coldish food I experienced was plain pasta at the very end of the lunch service which is kind of expected since we were soooo late. The wait staff and chefs in the buffet restaurant were wonderful and are unsung heroes doing a hard job and making sure the tables are clean for each guest and providing drinks without much thanks. They did a great job, especially Judith who was lovely and friendly. It was nice to see the manager in the restaurant most days making sure everything was going well. The hotel seemed to care about the guest experience. Other options for food was the Toucan bar which provided a light lunch and drinks throughout the day when the main restaurant shut. This was a lovely, airy space with a high ceiling to relax in and had a handy self service area for tea, coffee, soft drinks, lager and slushies for AI guests. There is also a full bar service. This area turns into the a la carte option at night which is Italian cuisine. We went for dinner once and had a great experience. We felt really looked after by the staff. Top Tip - if you go for dinner, make sure you are hungry the portions are huge and yummy! We could only eat half a pizza each and shared two deserts between three of us simply because we were so full. We had a great night here. We experienced the entertainment most nights at the Broadway bar or the Piano bar. I enjoyed it very much. The animation team put in a lot of effort to make the children happy with the mini disco each night. It was good to be in such a happy atmosphere. The Piano bar had a slightly more grown up vibe but was good place to have a relax with a drink. Drinks were great the real deal, not watered down with generous measures. The menu clearly showed what was available with AI and included many branded drink options and some cocktails. I enjoyed a nightly tipple. The hotel is in a quiet location at the end of a row of similar beach front hotels. It has a rocky beach directly to the front. But less than 5 minutes walk away (at a slow walk) there's a lovely sandy beach with chairs to use. The main beach is about 20 minutes walk away along the coastal path (but I thought the nearer beach was nicer.) the harbour is 25 -30 minutes away where you can see sea lions or take a glass bottom boat cruise. The hotel is next door to a small shopping centre which has a supermarket for any essentials. It also has a bowling alley and cinema with English films shown on a Tuesday. There's three pools provided. One separate area for babies and small children, one slightly deeper pool and the main pool which also include a jacuzzi. My daughter used for pool daily and had a great time. The life guard was attentive and the area felt safe. We also used the gym which was great for any one wanting to work out on holiday. A male and female sauna was included in this area but we didn't use these. I only have two small criticisms, 1) the hotel says sunbeds cant be reserved by towels and staff will remove the towels if the bed isn't used within the hour. Unfortunately this does not happen in practise. I saw towels left on beds for 5 hours at a time and not used. This was annoying as I needed a place to sit to keep an eye on my daughter who was in the pool. 2) One day the hotel had some kind of group booking which made it really busy around the pool. The guests appeared to be obnoxious (not the hotels fault I realise) but half the restaurant was also closed to cater for the group which made what was left very busy and slightly unpleasant. Some guests had to queue to get in the restaurant it was so busy. I never saw this any other night. Other than this relatively minor issues, we had a wonderful stay and would go back to this hotel in a heart beat. I really hope they don't change what they provide as they offer a smashing experience. It is on a list of hotels we intend to revisit - this is not a large list. All the hotel staff were wonderful whoever they were. The staff would always say hello and provided a smashing service. Because of this, the hotel had a friendly/relaxed vibe which is hard to achieve. I hope the management realise how brilliant their staff are. To sum it up, my daughter said, "Mummy I love this place, can we stay here forever" This was within 2 hours of arrival........
We have just returned from this hotel and it was a lovely break. I have special requirements when travelling with a special needs child and had emailed the hotel in advance with some specific room requirements. These were more than met on arrival, in fact I would say exceeded, and I cannot thank the staff enough for their help. The staff are a credit to the hotel and the animation team are fabulous with their endless energy. The food is served buffet style and it was Valentines day on our visit and there was a rose for every lady, lollipops for children and the meal was lovely. There was always plenty of choice and children were well catered for. Our room was cleaned daily with fresh tea and coffee supplies each day and chocolates left also which is a nice touch. The rooms are spacious and with the benefit of children's TV channels in the morning if required. The grounds and pool area was clean and no need to rush for sunbeds as they are in plentiful supply. Overall it was a great time and we will definitely be back.
We travelled as a family and can honestly say it is the worst holiday we have had. We are well travelled and we totally went on the positive reviews left for this hotel. We could not have been more wrong, where to start! Room: 5th floor with sea view, very dated room not cleaned sufficiently, drab and dark, lighting was awful. Tea/coffee facilities, fridge not stocked even with water which is poor for 4 star! Sofa bed is dirty/grubby and unfit for even sitting on. Pillows need replacing, lumpy and smelly. Food: This was so bad, the quality of the produce was terrible and never hot. No table service re drinks in the evening. Canteen style, noisy and your clothes smelt of cooking. Management need to look into food temperature as someone will become very ill if this is not monitored. Also I love omelettes that are made fresh! Oh no these came from powder mix and disgusting as did scrambled egg, freshly cooked eggs put out undercooked, bacon swimming in fat. Come on Elba Sara sort the food out it is not a 2 star but 4 star so start giving your customers the food they deserve!!! (Not tinned fruit, honestly, why!!) Pools and grounds were lovely well looked after. The reception area was so drab with no life and soul, really odd way it was set out very disjointed. Staff were pleasant worked hard. We hired car for week and went out each day. There will be other hotels in the vicinity please check these before booking Elba Sara not worth it at all waste of money. I have been counting the days to go home and I have never felt like that before ever!!
We really enjoyed our stay at The Elba Sara Hotel. The location was perfect, as it is was on the beachfront with easy access to walk along to the harbour, and shops nearby too. Airport only 15 minutes away. Good bus links and including a free hotel bus up to the next resort Puerto Antigua. Our room had a fantastic view of the bay, and pools. The food was brilliant as it was a Buffet style for all meals so you could just choose what ever you fancied. Drinks always good too. The chefs were always there cooking something in front of you such as fresh fish or steaks. All the staff were so helpful and nothing was any trouble. Daniel Hevia was always there to help. We were also most impressed with the entertainment for the kids. One day they put on a Pool Party and Foam Party for the kids and everyone had the time of their lives. Although we were a couple, everyone is welcome and there are quiet areas to escape to if that's what you want. The entertainment team worked so hard every day. Different shows every night in their nightclub. Also can rent towels for 10 euros deposit each. Can't wait to go back! :)
The hotel was beautifully clean. Well equipped bedrooms with tea and coffee making facilities (highly unusual abroad). The buffet style dining hall was well laid out with attentive staff. The food was varied and of good quality.
It was the first time I had been away for the festive season & I thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel was fantastic. I had requested a room with a walk in shower due to mobility issues & much to my surprise I was upgraded to a suite. Bed was huge & very comfy. Room & bathroom was spotlessly clean. I was all inclusive & the food was very good. There was nothing spared at the gala dinners for Christmas Day & New Year's Eve. The food & decorations were fantastic. The staff were very helpful & friendly. Plenty to do if you had young kids. Would definitely go back
On arrival at destination no problems , helpful reception and room appeared fine. First evening meal was ok with a good selection of items . However as you attend on a regular basis you discover food cold , uncooked and some times inedible . The number of people who refused the uncooked eggs at breakfast was amazing with the other items were cold on a regular basis. The quality was lacking in meat fish and vegetables. All of the hotel was extremely cold and no heating available ? To highlight the issues the staff in the Italian restaurant greeted you wearing coat , scarf , winter boots and headgear not taking it off at all yet we were expected to eat in this environment and there is no need to understand the lack of temperature in the food and still nothing was done !. Waiter service for drinks ? that is to say the least a massive overstatement- if you were paying as you attend then yes you were served drinks . Those of us who paid in advance got our own drinks and only on two occasions were we offered service two out of 14 !!!! Cats As you walk around you see Cats however I did not expect to see them everywhere including on the furniture which we the paying guests were expected to use . I don’t mean just outside no we had the pleasure of this in the bar not far from reception where food and drinks are served. They were walking toward rooms and up the stairs . Health and Hygene not applicable in what is described as a 4* hotel. Even when you are attempting to lie by the pool they are all over . The seating is dirty ,worn and threadbare ! Is this due to the cats or just a very tired hotel living on past reputation . It is greatly in need of an upgrade and should not be advertised as a 4* nor as clean . DIRT > Whilst having a bath looking around the actually reality of the dirt /rust is clearly visible . The quick clean on a daily basis is very limited and as you look closer the black between the tiles and the rust on the soap dish and elsewhere obvious. We had shoes stolen from the room and when checking the area we moved the beds to discover a massive amount of dirt which had been there a long time. Not a good advert and the description is so out of sync with the reality. Definitely one to avoid. We found this a total waste of money .
Everything perfect again after requesting to change room as we were disappointed with our original room. Reception staff were very efficient in sorting out the problem. It’s the first time we had been dissatisfied with anything at this hotel.
Having booked a late holiday to our favourite country, we chose the Hotel Elba Sara. This hotel exceeded all expectations. The room with a sea view was beantiful. We arrived to enjoy a Halloween themed party and the staff participated by dressing up for the occasion. We could not fault this hotel or the holiday anf would not hesitate to rebook here again in 2018.
We had a second winter week at this fantastic hotel. Staff were very helpful, cheerful and professional. Food and Accommodation excellent . During the day the entertainment crew had continuous and varied activities geared for all the guests.
