My wife and I have just returned from a weeks golfing holiday at this hotel which we booked with Golfbreaks.(who are excellent) We found the golf course to be of a good standard but very busy every day. Note if you are a couple you will be put in a four ball as the demand for tees is so high. The room was of a good standard but very cold in the evenings as the heating didn't work, we requested that this be dealt with and we were provided with an electric fan heater. There is also a distinct shortage of power sockets so take an adapter with you! Note there are no USB points either. The wooden floors are very nice but noisy when people are walking around, dropping things or moving chairs and beds around. The TV channels are very poor for the brits with only Sky News and France24 English news. Plenty of German and French channels though! The food was good as was the service, but it was a pity that one has to pay for water, tea and coffee with your evening meals. The 19th hole was very busy and the service was a little slow, plus the menu was limited but acceptable. The swimming pool area looked very inviting but its not heated so we didn't venture in. The spa and gym areas are also quite small. The staff were generally most helpful, but when we asked if we could do 9 holes on the afternoon of our arrival, this was agreed, however it ended up costing us 40 euros each! I pointed out that we had 5 rounds booked with them so could they offer us a reduction on the 80 euros, the answer was a most definite no! The complex is a 15 minute taxi ride from the airport and costs around 15-17 euros each way, taxis are good and plentiful. There is also a free bus service operating from the hotel to the harbour and beach area which is very good. The island was also very windy so take plenty of sweaters with you. Hope this is of help to you.
Can not fault this hotel or the staff. There are only about 60 rooms on two floors and the rooms are spacious. Food was excellent, we wer half board and there was a good selection in the evenings. The golf course on site is really good, unfortunately Salina does not reach he same high standard. Adults only is a bonus. The hotel is a fifteen minute walk from shops and restaurant but it is a pleasant walk alongside the course. There is also a frequent bus transfer. Reception helped us book a super day tour which included lunch and liquor tasting. Paolo in piano bar is a gem and Roberto, golf ranger, very helpful.
We have just returned after our sixth visit to the Elba Palace Hotel. We return to this hotel for the relaxing atmosphere and superb service where you are treated like a member of the family, rather than a corporate customer. This is personal service at its best. As always the team of staff working under the Assistant Manager Pilar were excellent. At reception Chopin, Sarah, Annette and Angela made us welcome from the moment we arrived. At breakfast and for evening service, Anna, Cinthia, Laura, Carmen, Teresa, Marco, Ali and Mallud were always at hand to ensure we wanted for nothing. After dinner it was always a pleasure to go into the bar and be greeted by Paolo who provided nothing but top class friendly service. This small team of friendly people ensured our holiday was the best it could possibly be. If it is rest, relaxation and the personal touch you want, we could not recommend this hotel enough. Golf course right next to hotel. We had half board with unlimited golf. Excellent food and service. Good ambience in the bar and restaurant. Nice course, practice areas and pro shop. Only thing preventing a better rating was a few negatives about the room - no effective heating (it can get quite cold in January and February) and we had to unplug lamps to find a spare power socket. There is also a gym, spa and pool.. We stayed a week and never left the complex.
Lots right with this hotel, one problem. Only trouble was it was a large problem. Staff, excellent. Rooms, (we did have a corner suite probably the best room in the hotel)excellent. Food, some of the best hotel food we have ever had, we are very picky about our food but this was good. Please note the two nightly specials are not specials but from the ordinary menu. Breakfast a bit chaotic as no table supervision. Piano bar excellent. Location, out of town. The large problem was although I am a golfer this was a weeks break to lay by the pool, having found a place out of the wind, relax with a beer or gin and tonic then have swim. When we arrived the pool was closed! Apparently it was due to a fault. We have two houses with swimming pools and for 5 out of our 7 days it was renovation work on the surrounding areas, painting , cleaning ,grouting etc. Not rectifying a fault. The manager declared the pool open the afternoon before we left but it was supposed to be heated but had two days of cold water put in it, it was unusable. Laying by the pool, we were offered a free drink each day, was impossible owing to drilling and dust etc. You could use free of charge the indoor spa but this is not outdoors sunbathing. Great hotel but let down by the pool closing and not being honest why.
We’ve just enjoyed a week at the Elba Palace despite the slightly disappointing weather & would comment & recommend as follows: Location - a bit isolated but courtesy coach runs at intervals during day & you can get down to Marina/shopping area quite easily. Very convenient for airport & taxi 16€. Hotel - bedrooms large & comfortable in a more traditional style. Take care as the wooden floors & bathroom tiles can be very slippery. You can also hear people moving around & those on 2nd floor above us regularly dropping their golf balls over the floor in the early hours! The central courtyard can be nice to sit & read if you can get a sunny spot out of the wind. Dining etc - breakfast offered just about enough choice we felt. Not enough seating inside if busy & although terrace has glass sides it’s just a canopy roof so was very chilly. Didn’t think I’d need my quilted jacket on for breakfast! The terrace/19th hole was very busy all day with golfers & staff struggled at times. The lunch snack menu bit limited. As hotel guests we sometimes couldn’t get a table. Pre-dinner drinks/post dinner coffee etc in the Lounge Bar were delivered by the very welcoming bar staff. The entertainment was a bit tame but was fine for just a bit of music while having a drink. Dinner in the St Andrews restaurant was generally good & menu offered good choice of main courses plus 2 specials each evening. Starters buffet was a bit limited at times. We found the cost of drinks to be quite reasonable overall. Golf - very busy course with golfers brought by courtesy bus from other Elba hotels. Glad we’d booked in advance. You will be put into a 4 ball if just a couple. We enjoyed our 2 games despite 40mph winds for our 1st round! Twilight is available after 2pm which reduces green fee to 40€ rather than €70pp & the light is still just about ok at 6pm. Plenty of mats on the driving range - 2€ for 30 balls - & a reasonable size chipping/putting area. Overall we enjoyed ourselves & the staff in all areas are very welcoming & work very hard. The hotel could just be updated a bit in some areas to bring it up to a 5star standard. They started refurbishing the pool while we were there & we would have been a bit unhappy had the weather been better for sunbathing as even though you could still sit around the pool area you had workmen jetwashing/regrouting tiles around you! Guests were offered use of facilities at the Sheraton but it wouldn’t have been that convenient to get to regularly. We wouldn’t return but that’s not really a reflection on the Hotel, more that Fuerteventura isn’t quite our ideal destination.
My partner and I are not golfers but we decided to stay at the Elba Palace for a luxurious quiet break and that is exactly what we got! With 1st class service thrown in. We stayed over the Christmas period and was treated to an amazing gala dinner. Champagne and hors d'oeuvres were served in the courtyard, where a baritone entertained us with various opera classics. The dinner was delightful and after retiring to our rooms we had a Christmas gift awaiting us, complements of the hotel. The pool area was quiet and clean. The room we stayed in which overlooked the swimming pool was spacious and clean with a very large and comfortable bed and a fabulous view to wake up to. It was cleaned to a very high standard. The young man who made the cocktails each night certainly knew how to make a good cocktail. The food served in St Andrews restaurant was A la carte and I just wish that I was there longer so that I could have tasted everything on the menu. The sauna and steam room can be privately hired out by the hour which I can certainly recommend as the staff had laid out candles and supplied champagne. Saving the best till last is Pilar (Sub Director): she made our stay very special with every detail of our stay professionally and expertly attended to. She personally gave us a tour of the place and always found the time to speak to us and ask how our stay was going and if there was anything that we required. Our answer was always no as everything we required and more was provided. My rule has always been not to got to the same place twice (big world out there) but this time we definitely are. See you all soon and thank you X Jeannette & Dom ( Room 121)
I have returned from a Christmas week with my husband. The hotel is of excellent standard. Rooms are good 5* standard, large and spotlessly clean. Excellent standard of linen and towels. Excellent pool furniture and always easy to get a bed. Excellent staff - just not enough of them. The hotel overall is good but there are some 5* services that are lacking. They are minor but its the attention to detail that counts in this standard hotel. The Spa is small and has to be booked. You cant just come back to the hotel after a day golf or exploring and go to the Spa. It is reservations only. It is private for your 1/2 hour booking. We used the Sheraton a couple of times which has an excellent Spa and is adult only after 2.30pm. The outside pool is advertised as "Heated" but its not. It was freezing and we didn't see anyone in it over the week. Again we went to The Sheraton and their pools are all heated. Inside and out. No offer of nuts/crisps at the bar or at tables with drinks in the bar. The entertainment is shocking for 5*. It is a man playing a keyboard that runs out of songs to play. He is very nice and I felt sorry for him as he tried very hard but it was a terrible excuse for entertainment. No UK TV only 1 x news channel. (Many German and french channels)This is not a big issue when you are on holiday but especially on Christmas Eve when the bar closed at 10.30 pm so the staff could go home for Christmas and there is nothing else to do - we fancied watching a movie or a bit of English TV. It's not difficult to get now via the internet and this should be offered to UK guests as an option if wanted. Breakfast was very poor for 5*. In fact I was shocked. However, dinner is definately 5* with 5* service. Pool/golf bar/ canteen area was poor. No pool service. I would recommend this hotel but I think the management could do a lot better. Its quiet and adult only is a superb plus to this hotel. The weather was excellent. A special mention to Mulud (I think that was how you spell it) in the bar and Cynthia in the restaurant and breakfast.
We're not golfers, but the allure of the hotel was that it was advertised as adults only. From the moment we set foot in this gracious, old-style hacienda, we were not disappointed. Pilar was the epitome of charm and graciousness, and attended to our every need, which wasn't large since everything we wanted was provided in our stay. Nothing was too much trouble and we spent the week sunning ourselves, eating well in the peace and quiet.
I had a fall whilst in a car park when we were touring the Island. We spoke to the hotel manager who insisted that he take us his own private doctor, which he did, rather than to the local hospital. He stayed with us and explained to the doctor what had happened and accompanied my partner to the Pharmacy to get the drugs to relieve the pain. The hotel manager went the extra mileto insure that the remainder of my holiday was not spoilt.
