Elba Carlota Beach & Convention

We are currently on our family holiday to the Elba Carlota in Fuerteventura. The Hotel itself is very nice, the food is plentiful and the drinks are mainly branded. The trouble is the flies during the day if you are sat by the pool or in the lobby/pool bar there are literally hundreds of flies crawling all over you constantly. They are a constant source of irritation , it makes you itch. If you leave the hotel there doesn’t seem to be the same problem so it can only be down to the hotel not cleaning the pool and tables down with disinfectant. Real shame as this will definitely stop us returning

We - a couple with a 5 year old son - have just come back from a week long, all-inclusive stay at this hotel. Overall we enjoyed it, but positives and negatives from our point of view below: Positives - quick and efficient check-in - smart and capacious public areas - friendly staff, including an enthusiastic and helpful Animacion team (who also run the kids club) - good standard of cleaning - one of the best all inclusive buffets I've been to - the omelettes at breakfast are particularly good! - an efficient pool bar with plenty of drinks choice including cocktails (and a breakfast and lunch buffet) - attractive grounds which go straight onto the promenade and then a series of small (not busy) beaches - walking distance on a promenade to El Castillo harbour (20 mins or so) - small shop in hotel and a few minutes walk to a local shopping centre - games room onsite (plus a casino though we didn't use that) Negatives - our room was a bit faded compared to other 4* we have stayed in - as another reviewer has mentioned there are a lot of flies around the pool area and some also in the hotel. (Luckily not the biting kind - for once not a single mosquito bite on me!) As you'd expect not all the food is covered at the buffets so we always made sure not to pick the item on top just in case!) - the kids club facility runs from 11-1 and from 3-4.45. The Animacion staff are fun and enthusiastic and our son enjoyed it a lot, wanting to do both sessions some days, BUT a lot will depend on your expectation. On a previous holiday at another hotel the kids club was VERY secure (purpose built, high fences/secure gates, and run by Thomson staff - this meant we felt comfortable to go for a swim or a walk once our son was signed in as we knew he would be safe.) This was NOT the case here, it is MUCH more relaxed. The points I'd flag up are: (1) The kids club is very easily accessed - through a low gate with a small bolt and then down a slope into a lower ground play area (open to the sky) and then into a large indoor room. The facilities in there were good but the issue was that your child could very easily just come out, which our son did several times. (To get round this we took sunbeds in view of the gate to make sure we spotted him coming out, but it did mean one of us had to be there at all times.) (2) If your child is a climber be aware that the gate is very easily scaled, being so low - our son did this one day with the result that he was very close to a considerable drop down into the play area. Luckily no incident happened as I spotted what was occurring and got there quickly. (3) Some events were held outside (eg. bouncy castle), mixed up with other/older kids not signed into kids club. This left us feeling our child could easily be mislaid even though we had signed him in to the club. In fact he did wander off several times at the first session - luckily we had remained nearby to keep an eye on him. Other events the children were taken out of the club area to were in the pool so again there was a mix of non kids club children and adult guests participating. We did know about this on signing him in but again it just meant one of us had to be hand and, in our case given his age, in the pool too. Other info: - we didn't use any of the evening entertainment so can't comment but other parents told us the kids mini-disco and some of the shows were good. - if you don't like it too busy when you are trying to find a table/eat then aim to get down for breakfast before 9am and for dinner before 7pm. Overall we did have a good time and I would recommend this hotel to others PROVIDED (a) flies won't drive you nuts - we got used to them, and (b) you do not need a secure kids club facility.

We recently enjoyed a 12 day holiday at The Elba Carlota Hotel staying on half board basis. On arrival we were quickly Checked in by a most efficient and friendly reception staff member. Our room was on the same floor as reception as I'm not keen on lifts so had requested low floor. The balcony was quite small but adequate for 2 people and looked over the beautiful pool area. Through the palm trees we could just see the sea. A higher floor probably gives better views. The room was spotlessly clean with good storage, fridge, comfy beds and super pillows. We were very pleased that the safe was easily accessible, being at eye level rather than low down . There is a charge for the safe but the fridge is complimentary. The bathroom was modern with a good selection of toiletries and fresh towels . The hotel is well designed with a superb pool area and plenty of sunbeds and shades. The pool bar doubles as a snack area for those on all inclusive in the day. At night it opens up into a lovely Italian themed restaurant. For each week of a stay on half board or all inclusive you can book a meal at this little restaurant. As we were there 12 days we were allowed one evening meal at the Italian. The receptionists had booked us a table for our 2nd night but I suppose you could change the booking. We really enjoyed our evening there and the 2 young people who served us were excellent. The main dining room was very busy and this was really our only complaint as every evening it was so hectic and difficult to find a table. I was surprised that most evenings no one seemed to be guiding guests to free tables. The staff did seem to be working hard to clear and reset tables. Breakfast time was much better and the atmosphere relaxed not frantic. The quality and variety of food was good baring in mind the cosmopolitan clientèle the hotel has to cater for. We were impressed by the standard of entertainment provided most evenings from both the hotel animation team and guest artists. The animation team were excellent providing a range of sports and fun activities in the day and good standard shows some evenings. The animation team were well organised and worked very hard. They circulated among guests around d the pool area in the day and made people feel very welcome. The team conversed in several languages. It's commendable that we were made to feel part of the hotel family even though we didn't join in the sporting activities. At some hotels it sometimes feels as if only a chosen few are acknowledged, this is NOT the case here. The hotel is very well designed. I was particularly pleased to find 4 out of the 5 five lifts are the glass type. If I'd have known this before we arrived I wouldn't have requested a low floor and our view would have been better. The immaculate grounds lead directly onto a promenade and lovely beach. We walked along the prom to the centre of the resort. It took us about 15 mins to the next hotel and a couple of restaurants but about 45 mins to the harbour walking at a very steady pace. The hotel provides a free bus service to the centre and we used this twice to go into the centre then walked back along the seafront. As we were staying half board the hotel was a little isolated from bars and restaurants if we fancied a change of venue for a s ask or evening meal. There is a modern shopping centre next to the hotel with a supermarket and several bars. Over all we would recommend this hotel for couples.

An excellent hotel in a great location for the Easter break. We travelled with our 2 young kids age 7 and 5. The staff were brilliant and friendly and the hotel was beautiful. We had a family room with a side sea view, this was really good. We were on the 5th floor and I booked this hotel using the official hotel website. The mini disco was great for the children every night after dinner. There were lots of daytime activities and the animation team did a great job of engaging everyone. I highly recommend staying at this hotel if you have young family. We stayed half board and I think the food was really good. It is placed nicely beside the new shopping centre, it has a wonderful promenade and the beach is accessible from the hotel grounds. The hotel grounds are also immaculate. All in all 1st class! We will be back...

We stayed here for a week over Easter smooth check in had a ground floor room 2 huge singles pushed together and a smaller camp bed teenage daughter wasn’t impressed with! Meal times were really busy at times found the food varied and really nice although some of the food needed keeping warmer! The Italian we got a voucher for was a nice alternative to the restaurant even though I wouldn’t pay to go again! The drinks on AI were ok red wine was nice and some branded shorts were included only downside long queues sometimes built up! Entertainment was really good don’t miss the Beatles act!😂 Bar staff were on the whole pleasant and friendly, as some have said before on here the hotel does have fly problem though! Altogether a lovely hotel in beautiful grounds with easy access to the beach and a nice 20 min stroll into town!

we stayed here late march for a week and i must admit its quite a nice hotel my wife had been here before and recommended it and to be fair its not bad we stayed all inclusive and although ok some staff deliver better measures than others but its the usual all inclusive brands you need to be half board to get the good stuff.. pools were good one for the kids one warm and a big cold one ..the safe is charged for and should be free really it just adds a nice touch also water is not left in the room which again would be nice even if only on arrival.. i would go again though so no real problems here the one thing i noticed though when they got busy big queues started to form so maybe more staff is an idea when busy

Third time staying at this hotel, booked direct this time with a Fidelity card. Bit of a mistake as we did not get a room upgrade or superior room as promised.no free visit to the Alacarte and probably paid more than booking through a travel company like Thomas Cook. Contacted the hotel 6 months before we arrived asking for a room on a high floor near the pool bar, very disappointed with or first room over the kitchen. They did move us the second day of our stay but we must have lost at least 1/2 day of our stay looking at rooms and moving. Reception said they are unable to satisfy all room request as the hotel was busy, but with a Fidelity card and 6 months notice this was a poor excuse. That said we did again enjoy our stay, only real problem was the large amount of fly's around the pool and pool bar. Some days it became unbearable. I made the same comment last year on TA only for the hotel to respond it was bad due to the time of year. This is very strange as we stayed late May last year and late March this year. Special mention of Paula at the pool bar, always smiling and friendly.

This was our second visit to the Elba Catlota hotel and we made to feel wecome from the outset. The receptionists were friendly and helpful. Our room (365) had a great sea veiw and was well equiped with moden furniture and a comfortable bed. 2 loungers and table and chairs on the balcony. We were staying half board and the restaurant was excellent with a good choice of food for breakfast and evening meal. The staff were friendly and worked tirelessly to meet peoples expectations. It was pleasing to see the Managers assisting the staff at the really busy times. The lobby bar was enjoyable and a place to chat after evening meal. Good to see staff with a sense of humour but always professional. We visited the Italian restaurant and that was an experience to remember. Great food and professional, friendly staff. The pool area's were kept neat and tidy as were the surrounding garden area's. Thank you Carlota for a relaxing, stimulating 14 days. A modern hotel with 21st Century facilities.

After my husband complained about the rooms with the title heading Pissed Off on trip advisor,we wanted to set the record straight as this hotel and staff didn't deserve that. After being granted another change of room we declined and stayed in our 2nd room, the Staff couldn't have been more helpful in making us feel at ease. The breakfast was brilliant, probably the best choice we've ever had, dinner time there was ample choice ,the only slight problem was at times lack of teaspoons and every other day a lack of staff.Evening Meals there was something for everybody we never felt let down by the choices in front of us. The rooms were comfortable and cleaned every day ,like others have said they do need updating ie with decorating, for those going B B there isn't a kitchenette. The pools were great, plenty of sunbeds for all and plenty of sunshades, you could get drinks and snacks thru out the day,Paula is a star. At night time there was a bar where the staff were very attentive, closed a bit early for us . Overall we enjoyed our stay, all the staff and management were superb, would we go again the answer would be yes.

Nice hotel, good location near shops and 15 min walk to the bars or 2 mins in a taxi. Food help yourself service, both breakfast and dinner. Staff are friendly and helpful. Swimming pool very good and clean. Not far from the beach which is fantastic!
