Were it possible I would award a sixth star to the 'Elba' Carlota 'chain' hotel on the basis of the incredible positive staff attitude. As a former personnel manager, I stand in awe at the friendly, informal response from all levels of staffing. Also their constant hard work & flexibility is mightily impressive. Full marks. The hotel itself has the customary Spanish inspirational, modern architecture, spacious, welcoming, with excellent en suite rooms. Good wifi & TV. Room service is exemplary. The outdoor swimming pools, gardens & sitting areas are extensive & perfect, with gated access to nearby promenade & beach. The Atlantico shopping mall is 2 minutes away. Dining, for the mass market, in our case the SAGA group, is the now customary self service, with its advantages & disadvantages; in the latter category is the initial rush to pile your plate up on every opportunity; later one eases back to a sensible diet! The various bars are excellent- 'all inclusive' guests enjoy free beverages including alcohol. Entertainment is staged regularly in several locations around the hotel. Various outdoor activities are also available around the gardens. Early morning wake up is facilitated by the arrival of the airliners after 07.30 hours, on final approach to the airfield some 6kms to the north. A plane spotters dream! This hotel with the adjacent conference centre & the more up-market Sheraton hotel next door, are part of one of several tourist developments on what is basically a small, volcanic, arid island. The undeveloped parts of the island are reminiscent of the badlands of Arizona. Our January visit offered variable weather, but certainly preferable to what we left behind in England. Overall, a good choice for a family for couples of all ages.
Second time I have been to this hotel and again enjoyed my stay. I asked for a room with walk in shower and this was provided unfortunately it was on the second floor right behind the poolside cafe so it was pretty noisy 24 hours with extractor fans going. The room was a great size and the bathroom and shower was quite large. Bed very comfortable only other criticism was lack of lights in the room. Just two bedside ones and one standard lamp. Balcony got the sunshine most of the day though. Again thoroughly enjoyed the food. All the staff were brilliant and friendly. My opinion is the hotel could do with some smart ending up in places as it is beginning to look a little tired. Again, as before, I must compliment the hotel on its mobility access. Hope to go back again.
We stayed at the elba carlotta for a week in February On arrival we had already requested a quiet room with a nice view by email which we reminded the reception staff when we checked in We were given a room on the ground floor next to the corridor leading from the pool area which had no sun whatsoever. Every morning we were woken by the cleaning staff scrapping chairs and banging beds against wall from 0730 not good considering we went on holiday for some rest and not to be woken early most mornings Food Always Plenty of choice Regularly replenished Most of the staff were friendly and polite More attention could be given to clearing of the table ready for the next guests to be seated Main 1st floor bar Disappointed to find that Pena had been moved to work in the restaurant rather than the bar which he loved working in and so did the guests, many of which commented that the bar wasn’t the same without him Rooms Not the cleanest of rooms Our room could do with a deep thorough clean Mattress could do with being replaced as it was like a spring board ! Overall I felt the hotel wasn’t the same as when we have stayed on previous occasions
My wife and I stayed at the Elba for the last two weeks of January 2018.All inclusive. This was our first stay at this Hotel although we have been visiting the island for at least thirty years, and have stayed in a variety of Hotels. The staff are brilliant. Friendly , helpful, in every department. We requested a room change to the side of the hotel that is mainly in sunshine, and sheltered from the unusually strong winds. No problem, the reception were pleased to oblige. My wife needs an electric chair to get about.....there is a dedicated area in the dinning room which is very helpful, and a lift in the foyer. The variety and quality of the food is excellent. With themed evenings ( sushi, Italian , etc.:) The dinning room staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant. The grounds are immaculate , with an outside bar/refreshment area ( Paula, the lady in charge, is a bundle of energy...thank you Paula !) The animation team are the most enthusiastic I have experienced for some time. They put on at least two very professional evening shows ( The Lion King for example ) in addition to a variety of day time activities ( despite the unfavourable weather !) Room service is daily. We hired a safe. 30 Euro's for two weeks. Possibly a bit expensive ?. The T/V is without a BBC Channel , but has the other usual international sites. Free Wi/Fi is a bit hit and miss in the room ( fourth floor )......but it is OK in the foyer and bar areas. I wish that we had booked for longer than two weeks, and we will most certainly return again.
This hotel is spotlessly clean with staff who do everything they can to please. Being right by the promenade, there is lovely walk for 20 minutes around the bay. Two pools, one heated and a third one for children only. Foot is first class with a little variety day by day. At the Pool Bar you can get sandwiches, cakes, burgers, chips if you don't want a full buffet. The room had a huge comfy bed and piping hot water for the bath and powerful shower. Entertainment is - well -what you might expect. The external acts are better than the in house team. Convenient to walk to the market and shopping centre.
12 day winter break at this hotel with friends. We had originally booked junior suites at the Geranios Suites and Spa hotel but were moved to Elba Carlota for reasons we did not find out until we arrived, Unfortunately we did not get like for like rooms at this hotel which admittedly was more down to the fault of our travel agent than the hotel. We did contact the Jet2 rep regarding this matter but no resolution was forthcoming so in the end we made the best of what we had. The hotel itself is lovely. Staff from maid service, restaurant, reception and animation team were all very helpful. Rooms: Clean with fresh towels on request. TV and tea making facilities, Restaurant: . Great choice of food to suit every taste and always well presented. Staff were quick to clear tables of used dishes. Bar: System used at bar was that you opened an account and paid at end of holiday. so we did not do this as we would much rather have paid in cash each time when purchasing drinks. The complex itself is vast with nice gardens. Two swimming pools (one heated), children's pool and a jacuzzi. Plenty of sunbeds by the pool and throughout the grounds. Back gate of hotel led straight on to beach. Unfortunately weather was so bad that we could not make use of these facilities for the majority of our stay. Animation team were brilliant and tried their best to make up for the miserable weather. Hotel is about a 25 min walk into Caleta de Fueste along the sea road or main road. Taxi cost into town 3.50 euros.
My wife & me love this hotel it is first rate from start to finish. All the staff are fantastic the food is great. Only suggestion would be to leave the coffee machine on in the lobby bar at night it would reduce the queuing at the bar . Can’t wait to come back in June.
Just got back from a great week at this hotel ....... on arrival reception were really friendly and helpful as was ALL staff there. Food was great plenty of choice and tables cleared quickly. Main bar and pool bar drinks fab , you can have branded drinks if you are AI at no extra cost . We asked for a sunny balcony room so ask for the side behind the pool bar and sun comes there all afternoon. If I have one small niggle it’s that the snacks in pool bar are not very exciting and not really hot as wen been in other hotels the snacks are made to order not put out to serve yourself . Would highly recommend this hotel .
My friend and I stayed for 1 week and it was great. We went all inclusive, best decision that we made. There was a little hiccup with our room. The travel firm hadn’t passed on the right information. Anyway we were given a different room and it was fine. It is a beautiful hotel. Couldn’t fault the staff or food. Plenty of choices at each meal. The bar staff were great and just as good as the entertainment group. The weather was a little bit disappointing but still warmer than home. We had a really relaxing holiday. Would suggest comfortable shoes, there’s plenty of walking if you want. But I found the sand on the beach a bit rough on my feet.
The staff at the hotel are friendly and very helpful. A very good entertainment team and the evening entertainment was one of the best we have had in a long time. The rooms are spacious cleaned daily. Plenty of sunbeds and you do not have to get up early to reserve one. Great idea to be able to hire beach towels which can be changed daily so that you do not take space up in your suitcase. A good choice of food and drinks which are good quality - Gordon's gin, and top brand whisky at no extra cost. The hotel is situated right next to the beach and a great paved walkway up to Cala caleta. Great amenities for families and young children.
