The staff are all excellent. Very welcoming and happy to help with anything. The location is very good, it's very central and there are loads of bars and places to eat nearby. We availed of the bike hire directly from the hotel, but it takes a little getting used to cycling on the other side of the road! We didn't have breakfast at the hotel so cannot comment on the food. The bed(s) were comfy and we slept very well (We had two singles put together). The room itself was large and spacious. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, and there was no safe either. There are no toiletries other than the big soap dispensers mounted in the shower/bath and over the sink. Also, the paper cups in the bathroom look cheap, and I would have preferred glass to be honest. On our last day (I know!) we read through the welcome 'file' and it does mention that there are safekeeping facilities in reception. There is no bar in the hotel either, but the staff will get you whatever you want which you can then enjoy in the lounge. There is no non-slip bathmat for the bath for when you shower, and I did almost fall trying to get out of the bath after my shower. The furniture is a little dated and worn, but this is really just an observation as opposed to a dislike.
Stayed for an extended weekend. Rooms are somewhat worn, but are nice and clean. Room was also really large. The Price was quite fair, since we had two single beds. A handful of english tv channels, which was nice.
A very nice hotel in an old mansion - and very nice staff. Interior is nice, rooms are great, breakfast is fine (pro tip, ask the staff for the Cappuchino - it is not on the list, but they make a nice one). And do book directly - Hotels.com is quite a bit more expensive than direct booking,
Stayed here recently so we could visit the Alma Tadema exhibition. (Excellent) The hotel is very central with a pleasant view of a historic square. Our room was very large, but somewhat tired. The shower-room would certainly benefit from an update. Dinner in the impressive restaurant was very good, as was the quality of the breakfast.
The hotel is located in an old historic palace, that belonged to the Dutch Royal family till 1970. The building, e.g. the restaurant shows some of the grandeur of the past centuries, although it must be difficult to maintain the building in a proper way Staff is very friendly and helpful. Good place to stay here when visiting the Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema exposition in the Frisian museum.
I stayed for two nights in july with a friend. The whole experience was very good, from the booking to checking out. They have really kept the hotell in a style that brings you back 200 years in time, accept for the bathrooms that were nicely renovated in a modern way. The location in town is really good and I can really recommend a lay-over in this palace.
Hello, I stayed in the hotel for two nights and it was pleasant experience. Rooms are large and nicely furnished. Breakfast is great and staff very polite and helpful. It was a great stay will come back for another stay for next holiday.
My first time visiting Holland attending the Friesian Stallion show that happens each January. We booked this hotel on recommendations and were not disappointed. We arrived on a late flight and drove from Amsterdam so arrived after 12am - there was a night receptionist on who was very friendly and accomodating. The room itself was spacious with a clean shower room and plenty of wardrobe space for the few days we were staying. Breakfast was nice and again lovely staff. There was onsite paid parking - a total of 6 spaces i think in front of the hotel. The only down side was that if you went out for the day your space wasnt guaranteed and the street parking you are only allowed to park at for so long. The hotel is literally a nice 20minute walk to the WTC Expo through the local shops and canal. Would definitely book again when going to the stallion show but I would recommend you book quickly as it books up fast
This hotel is centrally located in Leeuwarden in an old historic building. We had one of the cheaper double rooms, but no complaints. There are gardens to the rear of the hotel and it really is an oasis in the town. The public rooms are lovely and the restaurant was particularly attractive, although the menu was a bit limited. The staff were very helpful and tea making facilities were provided in the room. There was no bar, although drinks could be ordered.
In the past the 4-star Fletcher Hotel Palace Stadhouderlijk Hof was owned by the Royal Dutch family. The rooms are a bit outdated, but the restaurant and garden are very nice and the location in the old City is superb.
