Arlia Sands Apartments

Stayed in room 3. Toilet leaked, all fans ticked loudly, kitchen tap was broken, shower was very small and windows didn’t open up all the way. Very clean and quite. Few streets from beach. Good place if you’re only sleeping there.

Very comfortable stay for four adults in a two bedroom apartment. Well appointed kitchen, with large fridge, oven, microwave etc. Roomy living area, huge deck and comfortable beds. Situated on Ann Street, away from traffic noise, yet close to the beach, restaurants, cafes and shops. Only negative is, you have to pay for wifi.

The Arlia Sands Apartments are situated in a convenient location close to the beach and within walking distance of restaurants and shops. This basic accommodation was ideal for a couple of nights, but could do with a little updating, particularly the bathrooms. On site laundry was handy however charging extra for WiFi is a little outdated. Covered parking available.

I can't believe some of the reviews I read here are the same place we stayed as I would not have even one negative thing to say about the one bedroom apartment we stayed in in this motel. The position is very handy to the esplanade and easy to get to other parts of Hervey Bay. It was quiet, very clean and very comfortable. The bed was great! I would definitiely recommend this.

Stayed for a week at the Arlia Sands in Unit 14. The complex is one street back from the main Esplanade and for us, within walking distance to cafes and restaurants and the lovely Shelly beach. The hosts Garry and Sue were very accommodating and kindly waited for our late arrival at 6pm. The 2 bedroom Unit was compact, clean with basic kitchen and stove top (no oven - but there is a microwave) and the beds very comfortable. The grounds are very tidy, well-maintained and BBQ areas well laid out and functional. An enjoyable stay.

Well our time at Arlia Sands was a mixed bag the Managers were extremely helpful and were a great help choosing excursions which could be booked onsite. We found Arlia Sands to be well positioned being 1 street back from the Esplanade and close to shops. The apartment was an older complex with a heated pool and good parking directly in front of the apartment. There was a good selection of entertainment on the cable TV and dvd player supplied if you wished to utilize it. Our main criticism was that it only supplied 1 1/2 toilet rolls and 1 towel each. If any towels soaps etc that ran out it cost $2 per item to replace. There were no tea towels to dry dishes at all.

We went with a group of people and all our rooms were great, nice and clean and quite modern. The owners were very accommodating and the location was great. Nice pool and entertaining area which was handy as we had such a large group. Would have no hesitation in recommending this place.

Our first visit to Hervey Bay so were not really sure of the town layout; however, Arlia Sands is just a block walk from the esplanade so suited us. The esplanade itself is so long with restaurants, cafes and shops spread out along it. Its a good km down to the Spar and bottleshop, the foreshore has been developed with playgrounds, bike and walking trails and its quite pretty. Certainly enjoyed my morning walks early each day and it would also be perfect for bike hire riding. We were welcomed and checked in early as arranged which was great; room was clean and kitchen well equipped with a good size fridge and microwave, tea and coffee sachets and a little tetra milk in the fridge. We were staying for 3 nights so as these are serviced apartments rather than a motel, if you need fresh towels, soap or toilet paper, you'll need to pay. Not a problem, I never use motel shampoo anyway. Good stuff: the carports for our cars to park in on ground level were excellent, the laundry on site was okay (could do with a clean behind the machines though) our room had a drying rack and there was a sachet of laundry powder so was able to do a wash. Fridge worked well, the gardens and pool area was quite nice, sunny and inviting. The bbq area adjacent was good for afternoon relaxing. Location is good, quiet at night but a short walk to the esplanade. Room for improvement: the bed was hard, not just a bit firm, damn hard. Second night I put the spare blanket under the bottom sheet to give some padding which helped a little but owww. Ended up on the couch which was softer. Fly screen in sliding door was torn out and flapped in the breeze. The glass sliding door latch is very stiff and couldn't open it for a day until I worked out the trick. Kitchen timber venetians are pretty tired and won't stay up halfway. Bedroom ceiling fan is noisy/bearings gone. I gather that units are being renovated and I suspect ours has been done as the shower and vanity were newish. Overall, this place could be amazing, just needs a bit of maintenance. I've read the owner's responses to some other negative reviews but Its not our job as customers to point out what's broken, a good manager walks around and checks the units regularly. Break out the WD40 and a tool kit and get some little jobs done. And PLEASE replace the mattress or put a pillow top onto it, its a killer for us.

When my parents and I booked this holiday we were under the impression this was going to be a '4 start' accommodation. However, it wasn't at all. A list of problem we had that, to me, do not deserve 4 star rating. - Whole in patio fly-screen door. (Very big) - Only provided enough soap for two people. - Overpraised wifi for 3gb - Only one channel on foxtel when we were told there was over forty (and even then it wouldn't work. - Couldn't open the blinds in the kitchen. - Not enough tale rails

Perfect location, 2min walk to the beach. Very accommodating and nice hosts, Garry and Sue. Small but nice pool. Very old, hard and wired beds - I chose to sleep on the lounge 3 nights instead. Roller blinds barely cut out street lights. Quiet location. Small but adequate kitchen - only hot plates and microwave. Tiny bathroom with decent shower. Great to have (coin operated) laundry available. Could be more generous with toilet paper and dishwashing. Liquid for longer stays.
