I booked this hotel with high expectations considering the good reputation of Steigenberger Hotels in Germany. However, I was utterly shocked, disturbed and upset by the treatment I experienced. I was giving a tiny corner room, with a bad sewage odor coming out of the heating system. I asked to switch rooms, and was told that there were other guests who had booked a longer stay and that it was not possible to move me for my 3-day stay. The worst experience was at breakfast - extremely rude service! I was repeatedly asked for my room number, when I noticed that other European looking guests were not. I also had a feeling as if I had done a mistake or owed the waitresses a favor for dining there - when I simply asked for a coffee and an omelette (which many other guests did as well), I was given an unfriendly grumpy look. I waited for my coffee for 20 minutes until I had finished my breakfast. When I was looking at the breakfast buffet items, the waitress came back and asked me yet again for my room number and that I was not allowed to take anything to my room, which I had not intended. Overall, I honestly felt this hotel was so hostile and disrespectful - it made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. A true disappointment of my first and last Steigenberger experience.
