We stayed here for one night because it was close to the airport but also right near the beach. I gave it two stars because the acoustics are horrible. You can hear every conversation of your neighbors, not to mention what ever they are playing on TV. The AC was only slightly blowing cool air, it never cooled down the room during the night. I would say it was on the verge of not working. The room and bathroom is fair but it did not feel super clean. There was not much space in our room to lay your suitcase and personal items. Really the only perks are location next to the airport and designated parking directly in front of the hotel. I would not plan to stay here again as there is most likely hotels in the same price range that are just as close to the airport and much cleaner, where you can get a sound sleep without hearing your neighbors.
Had reserved 4 months prior to stay for a nice valentines weekend with my wife only to receive an email upon landing in Ft. Lauderdale that they could not accommodate us because they overbooked. I understand stuff happens but to tell us literally hours before is very unprofessional and that weekend was a huge weekend in south Florida due to all the events happening so finding a hotel was not easy. Very disappointed in how all was handled.
I was supposed to stay there the night before a cruise. In their very fine print it says that check in is from 4pm-5pm (yes 1 hour) and that there is a number to call if you’re late. I get there- there’s no number you can call and no way to get into the room, and they already charged me for the night. What’s even dumber is that every door has a keypad. They could’ve easily emailed me a code to let myself into my room without having me having to do anything. What a complete rip off. I ended up having to find another hotel and pay again since there’s no way to get a refund. Do NOT book. Even a basic AirBnB is run better than this.
You’ve got a one-hour checkin window and if you don’t call well ahead of that to tell them you’ll be late, they won’t assume it. They’ll just charge you for the night and not leave you a key. So here I am with my husband and 2 year old and nowhere to sleep. Booked through hotels.com who spoke with the owner who told them he’d be charging us and not letting us in. There is supposed to be an “emergency” phone number on the door of the hotel but there’s absolutely nothing. Crap service and an important detail that should be in all caps on all their listings.
We decided at the last minute to visit friends on their boat at the Dania beach Marina and needed a one night rental near the harbor. It was New Years week and everything else was expensive and already booked. This boutique hotel had a last minute opening and we took a chance. There was no one at the office in the check in day but our name was left in an envelope in the door. The room had a comfy queen bed, air conditioning worked great and the bathroom was clean. The only issue was the refrigerator had not been cleaned from previous guest and there was no way to make a cup of coffee in the morning. It's a great location away from the crazy busy Hollywood Beach hotels but walking distance to enjoy the boardwalk.
Dania beach is probably one of the most beautiful places to visit if you want to stay in the crowed “Miami” but away of the crowdedness of the south Florida’s most popular place. Well, The Mint is “the place” where to stay. I have heard about new administration in the place located at walking distance of one of the most stunning beaches in Florida, and the new owners has done a terrific job putting together a place simple but practical. All clean and neat. Not too many rooms in the place so you can feel that you actually “owns” the hotel. It is kind of perfect if you want to airbnb a room and you actually receive a code to get into the room. Location and simplicity with elegance. Fully recommended.
This hotel was fine and not very expensive but they had a perfume machine plugged in the room that just took over the room way too strong of an oder what were they trying to cover up? I don't know. Otherwise all else was good we just had to stay over on the east coast before driving back to the west coast of florida.
Sorry for my late review. My fiancé and I stayed here and we both brought our mom’s. We booked this last minute and it was exactly what I thought it was going to be. Our room was one of the rooms pictured and it was perfect. We had two queen beds, a small but efficient bathroom, and a small but awesome kitchen with a stove and full size fridge. We bought groceries which saved a ton of money by not eating out. We rented a car and each room gets one free parking space which is a VERY good value. The beach is a very short walk between a few buildings. Good location to Fort Lauderdale, and Miami. We even drove to Key West! The only issue during our stay was the pool. It had to have work done while we stayed so we didn’t get to swim for a while. They had to shock it or something. Other than that it was an excellent stay and we will be back! OAN: For people traveling I would recommend looking into sun-pass because there are a ton of tolls in the area. If you’re driving your own car open a sun pass account. Trust me. If you rent a car through enterprise DO NOT DRIVE IN THE EXPRESS LANES because although you pay $3.95 a day for tolls, they do not cover express lane fees. Remember to setup your GPS because it WILL direct you into the express lanes to avoid traffic. Also pay attention and make sure you don’t drive through red lights at certain intersections in the area. They’re camera controlled. LOL if you run one, the rental car company will send you a bill and you will be able to avoid points on your license. If you run one in your own car they will send you a fine and it may be points on your license. Take it from someone who did all of these things hahaha! ✌️
Checkin was rather unpersonal and missing service, is was quick though and we were able to do an early checkin. We had a nice spacious and clean room on the second floor. AC was working very well, but there was also a fan. In our room also a kitchen area with a big fridge, finally one which doesn't produce so much noice. And a separate bathroom. Decoration and colors is fresh. Bed was a bit hard to our liking, but we were able to get a good nights rest. And we only stayed here for two nights.
I really enjoyed staying at The Mint. It's VERY CLEAN, has FREE PARKING, the hard working staff is friendly and very accommodating. My room was really set up like a 1 bedroom apartment with a full kitchen living/dining room. It had 2 bathrooms, great for multiple guests, (although I was alone). It's only half of a block to the ocean...and the bikes and beach chairs provided were greatly appreciated. I see these folks trying hard to provide a quality experience for their guests and they should be rewarded for it. Goodness knows that in S.Florida, there are plenty of run-down,bad hotels out there, willing to snap up your cash....THESE FOLKS AREN'T THEM! I WILL STAY AGAIN AND AGAIN AT THE MINT! I also look forward to staying at their sister properties, The Coral Reef Hotel and The Ocean Dream House. Hollywood Beach is making a great come back, The Mint is part of it. Special thanks to the nice cleaning lady and the terrific, manager! I'm sorry for not remembering their names.
