I had to make a last minute arrangement so I am thrilled to report that I had a lovely time staying at the Blue Ocean Guesthouse in July 2018. I look forward to a return visit soon. It’s at a great location close to the beach, scuba and snorkeling places as well as nice restaurants and grocery stores. I was able to cook my own meals and share space in the ample refrigerator and take a nice dip in the pool here followed by a rest on the zero gravity chairs.
Clean, quiet, and an amazing amount of amenities for your money. Like renting a home for the week, Mike is a gracious host who made me feel welcome. Bikes, swimming, barbecue, etc. Close to everything, South Florida is easily navigated from the location. Highly recommended and I will be back.
I stayed there a month ago in a tent, my choice. The location is a bit away from the airport so I recommend renting a car or taking Uber or the shuttle. The house was very clean as were the bathrooms. The kitchen had all the conveniences you will need for a short stay. The tent had a real mattress, a fan, and a light. I also had electricity for my phone and computer. I would definitely stay there again in the future. Thank you to all those there that made my stay interesting and fun. FYI: If you want a room, book the room. If you want a tent, book a tent. Don't expect to be able to change when you get there. So make up your mind at the time of booking.
Booked this Gem (sarcasm) with Homeaway. Paid $286 to get a confirmation saying I would be sleeping in f-ing TENT!!! I could do that crap in the comfort of my own back yard! Description clearly said "Studio", "Guesthouse", "Rooms", "Guest room". Nowhere at the time did it say TENT. I did take screen shots of the description and ad online. After I filed a complaint, it was changed afterwards. It showed pictures of bedrooms with 4 walls and a bed. I wanted a refund and was told the pictures also had tents in a few of them, so no refund. I said It had a picture of the pool also. Should I expect to sleep on a pool float?!?! Seriously!?!?
I am writing this review from beneath beautiful palm trees in the backyard paradise of the Blue Ocean Guesthouse! This place is amazing, I have been around the world and have stayed in many places but this place feels like a true vacation home. The decor, price, amenities, and the Manager Michael add value to the experience. This is a must book place to stay when in Ft. Lauderdale, close to shopping and, of course, the beach!!!!
When I booked this guest house, I never imagined I was booking a tent in the garden. When I arrived and Carlos showed me this is your room, I almost panic. Luckily it was not so hot, and I was alone, because else my wife would kill me sleeping in a tent. When you make a reservation the website showed ROOM but its not clear that I was going to sleep in a tent. Actually this should not be advertised as a hotel or hostel. I think the rooms should be advertised in one place, and tents should be advertised on another website of camping or at least provide good information so people don´t get confused. The location is not good as its very far away from the sea. But at the end it was clean, I could sleep well, it was less expensive than a hotel, so I think is good for young guys that know they are going to sleep in a tent.
I was a little skeptic about staying here for the week. Especially since I would be in one of the tent. Too my surprise the entire grounds were really nice. You have access to the entire house, river raft, bikes, BBQ grill and pool. The others staying that week were some really cool people. Location is great also. I recommend this to anyone.
The hotel was just as advertised. My room was clean and comfortable as was the rest of the house. The back yard is sunny and very tropical. I was able to use their barbeque and we had a picnic. I also used their bikes for FREE. I never felt like I paid a discount price. Definitely stay there again!
I stayed here for 6 nights. I didn't need anything extravagant and I was ok with a hostel-style lifestyle. This place fit the profile perfectly. I was aware of the additional fee the owner tacked on to the other reviews, but went ahead anyways because it would kind of thin out over my stay. However, I personally have never been confronted with this fee (maybe policies have changed?). I like what the owner did to this place. The shared amenities (kitchen, pool, backyard picnic table) are well kept and welcoming, and it felt like I was at home. Unfortunately, I had a bad neighbor sleeping in one of the indoor rooms next door because he literally thought his cellphone speakers wouldn't be heard past walls, and the inconsiderate guest blasted it and spoke loudly to his friends even after midnight. Nothing against the establishment, but you will run into the risk of bad neighbors in a semi-shared environment. He's lucky I passed out every night...eventually...
The house is fine and the owner is very nice. They provide a set of personal toiletries, which is nice. The room I stayed in was clean room but the window faces the sunroom where people watch TV. Too much noise and light for me but may not bother other people. Maybe the owner would have done something if I complained but I didn't want to impact other people's use of the house. Also, there is a $49 per stay extra fee which is uncommon and very high, in my opinion.
