The Esmeralda Inn is in a pleasant, quiet location and everything is very new, premium quality and very satisfactory. We were visiting Lake Lure and chimney rock in late April and our stay was very nice. At the time we visited there were not many guests so it was very quiet. The history of the Esmeralda Inn is interesting.
The front desk staff was friendly, however the accommodations left a lot to be desired. The room was very small and lacked a chair where you could sit and read. In addition to the ceiling light there was a light at one side of the bed and that was all. What is the second guest supposed to do? There is not enough light to read, and there is no night stand where you can put your glasses or other stuff. The room was not serviced during our stay ecept that a couple of bath towels were left outside in the hall. The bed was not made and toilet paper was not replaced. A very poor value for the money. Stay somewhere else.
I can say that my wife and I had a phenomenal stay at this small hotel. It is historic and beautiful! The interior especially is very nice. The staff was awesome, especially Sharon the manager. There was an issue with "this travel site", where this travel site" sent me an email to tell me my room was no longer available. I got this email while driving in North Carolina. Did I mention that we were from Florida? No worries, Sharon assured us that it was nothing to worry about and that our room would be waiting with the requested mountain view. Breakfast was a bit of a wow factor too. Hot and cold options with staff eagerly ready to find you that missing ingredient. The hotel is directly across from a gorgeous river with rapids and rock formations. You walk across the street or sit on the upstairs porch and rock on a chair. There is also a foosball table, poker table, air hockey table and a nice pool table upstairs. My wife and I spent our New Year's Eve playing all those games like two kids that had the place to themselves. I think they only have 14 rooms or something, so you're never going to be crowded. Our room was really tiny, but the view, the food, the location and staff made it a magical escape.
Peaceful retreat perfect for a relaxing weekend.
The hotel was very pretty and very clean. The rooms were nice but very small.
