The hotel is pretty new, very clean. Good size swimming pool and nice bar. The beds are not comfortable for my taste- I wouldn't give 4 starts to this hotel.

This is a nice, clean hotel to lay your head down at night. Resort it is not. Pool was surrounded by chain link fence, with plastic to shield you from construction on immediate other side, pool cabanas were fenced off as well, pool towels were always out and you had to go to lobby to retrieve them. There are no common outdoor areas for lounging or chairs with a view of water, no water activities, etc. that you would associate with a resort fee, fee also includes parking, but because of construction half of parking is non existent, had to search for parking every day. Construction noise begins early and lasts through out day, pavers on sidewalk are covered with boards. Would not stay here again, this is a chain, 2 story outside entry Inn style hotel, that has had a contemporary makeover to seem more hip or upscale.

This hotel is new, clean, and the staff are very accommodating. It's located about a ten minute drive to Mallory Square & Duval st, and the hotel has a free shuttle service to take you there. There is a bar in the hotel & a nice pool too!

Loved everything about it. Would definitely stay again.

Cute boutique style hotel. Lovely decor. Cute food truck on site. First day food was awesome. Second day just ok. The rum bar was also cute. First bartender was awesome. Second day I think a manager took over and it was clear he had no clue what he was doing. Overall it was still a good stay if you want to get away from the craziness of Duval street.

We stayed for just one night but got a lot out of it. We took the shuttle to and from the hotel to the middle of the action. Drop off is by Aquarium.

Pool was crowded. Seemed like some people were locals just using the resort pool. Food was very limited, just one food truck. Hotel staff was very friendly. We had maintenance issues with the room but they were addressed in a timely manner. Overall seemed kinda expensive for what we got.

enjoyed a one-night stay in the Gates for our anniversary

Room was great. Shuttle service to Mallory Square was an added benefit.

We stayed at the hotel for two weeks for our honeymoon, and found it to be a very confusing experience. The front desk clerks were all great, but the bartenders tended to ignore us. The cleaning staff left inconsistent amounts of amenities, including often leaving no coffee. The room was cleaned in various... styles... the bed was made in a couple of different ways, towels were left in different places, sometimes our stuff was moved, and sometimes it wasn't. We got the impression that they weren't used to having people stay for more than a night or two and weren't quite sure what to do with us.

The shuttle service was great for getting downtown. No driving in traffic or worrying about parking.

pool area was quite to my liking. I had a cold at the time so was unable to make the most of my visit

Very nice environment, people are marvelous, I'll be back soon, this is a paradise. I want to live in Hemingway house, it is beautiful.

i gave no complaints about my experience at the Gates Hotel. Staff was accommodating and friendly. Room was cozy. would definitely return.

Very nice staff Clean room Good coffee and food Very helpful Daily transport downtown every hour and return every hour Will go back again

Rum Row bar was horrible. The bartender w/the short blonde hair was obnoxious and all she did was complain about the management of the hotel. The picture that is shown is not of The Gates Hotel but of the hotel next door. The concierge service at the hotel is by FURY, a company that books excursions for the hotel guests. Total ripoff! What they promise on these excursions does not happen. Make sure you check your bill before you checkout. Added charges that were not mentioned with booking.

It's about 7-10 minutes from downtown but parking is pretty cheap so we didn't mind.

Rooms are done up very rustic , great pool, food truck is a nice touch. But the best part is the young girl at concierge , she did a great job.

The hotel was real nice. It was clean but the layout was difficult to get your luggage up to the second level. There was only one elevator on the property and it was at the opposite end. The neighbors living in an apartment across from our room were outside on their balconies, which was fine but some had their laundry on a line across their balcony and just junk. It wasn't the atmosphere you wanted to look at . Plus when we got there, a truck with four men were cooking their lunch on a grill in the parking lot. They were workmen but in the parking lot? There was a vacant lot next door, why couldn't they eat and break there? (Roofers)

Awesome place very clean and the staff was super nice!
