We rented Unit #56 and it was perfect for our family (4 adults, 2 kids, 3 generations). We loved being on marathon with so many fun family activities and great restaurants nearby. The property does not have a beach, onsite bar/restaurant, or other lively activities, but offers a great, relaxing, family friendly environment in which to enjoy the Keys. We stayed for a week and the only downside I would say is CoCo Plum realty that "managed" the rental of our unit. Once we called before our trip, they were somewhat friendly, other days they sounded annoyed, and sometimes they did not call us back. We came Thanksgiving week, a few weeks after Hurricane Irma. The property was in great condition. However, when we asked CocPlum what we needed to do for arrival and check in, they said we should have received an email and they would look into it. Two other unanswered calls leading up to arrival and nothing, no direction, no email, no call back, nothing. We arrived to the property and could not find how to check in. We found the property unlocked (scary) and went inside and found the Coco plum emergency number. They acted surprised that we did not have the check-in info, obviously forgetting our previous discussion asking for it and our two unreturned messages. Their guidebook in the room was also inadequate so we had to call twice more to find out thinks like what is the code for the free wireless internet access. The other pain is that despite having to pay a cleaning fee, you have to do all the laundry yourself. Thus, we had to get up very early on our departure morning to shower, strip 4 beds, wash, dry, fold and put the sheets back on top of each bed. You are only allowed to leave one load in the dryer upon the required departure of 10am. Thus you can do the math and figure if you have 4+ loads of towels and sheets to wash and dry by 10am, you have to start the first load of wash no later than 6:30 am. Overall, the property is great, unit #56 was wonderful, and Coco Plum took their management fee for not really do anything except collecting our deposits.
The code given to us to enter the villa wouldn’t work. We had arrived well after dark and were fortunate that a neighbor contacted Sam who could reset the code remotely. The unit was huge and beautiful. It was well appointed except for creaky and ancient chests of drawers as well as chipped and mismatched china. Some knives had cracked handles and none of the silverware matched. It was wonderful to have two balconies and a porch as well as a private boat slip. The views were fantastically beautiful and the weather was perfect. The community, i.e., other residents, were very friendly. A day trip to Key West was easy from this location. Publix and Winn Dixie were within easy driving distance. Evidence of Hurricane Irma was all around, and it was very clear that the people had made Herculean efforts to clear the debris.
My family recently stayed in Villa #34 at Indigo Reef for a week-long Florida Keys vacation. We were delighted to find the villa immaculate with a well-stocked gourmet kitchen and lovely furnishings. The pool and surrounding areas were pristine and peaceful; boat-slips and docks well-maintained. The nightly sunsets over the Gulf-of-Mexico from the porches were awe-inspiring and magnificent! We have vacationed in the Keys for many years and this location is our favorite. Hoping to return again soon!
Paradise! Such an awesome resort with such friendly people who stay here. Has everything you need! Great amenities! Full kitchen, washer/dryer, can sleep 8, even a margarita maker! We used the kitchen non-stop. Publix grocery store is right down the road, so trips to the store were frequent. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Indigo reef was the best choice we could have made. Great location. Very relaxing environment, Beautiful grounds... from the front gate to the docks. The large pool was great as well. We will definitely be returning very soon!
Spent a short week at Indigo Reef unit 23 in June 2017. The townhouse was well appointed and incredibly comfortable. My husband and I enjoyed the large pool and the beautiful grounds. Having a full kitchen was perfect for a quiet, low-key vacation. We were close to Bahia Hondo Park for snorkeling, hiking and relaxing on the beach. In addition, we enjoyed a charter fishing trip where we fished for Tarpon out of Bahia Hondo. Overall, great location for those wanting to avoid the party atmosphere of Key West and take in fishing, sun bathing and family fun. Sam, our contact for the rental was available and incredibly helpful. Can't wait to go back.
We just spent the last week in Unit 4 at Indigo Reef. The grounds, docks, and pool are very nice. These units were built in 2006 and definitely need updating. There is peeling paint on porch railings. Inside was dated with worn living room furniture that seats 5...the units sleeps 6-8. The refrigerator needed a new filter and did not keep things very cold. Ice cream sandwiches melted in the freezer, and the ice maker hardly made ice. They even had plastic ice trays in the freezer, so they know there is a problem. The bathrooms need updating. The half bath has a chunk out of the seat...not very sanitary. There are cracked floor tiles throughout. The owner has updated the bedding, but the queen bedroom dresser had a broken drawer. The boat slip for this unit is quite a distance from the condo, making it difficult to get a boat loaded for a day at sea. If bringing children, please be aware that the HOA has not updated the posted swimming pool rules. Some owners put a stop to tossing a ball around in the water and general kids playing/splashing in the pool. We used the charcoal grills provided by the dock, but we saw many people using their own grills in the grass outside their condo or in the parking lot. On a positive side, the view of the bay from the porch is beautiful and provides a great place to watch the sunset. Our daughter's family has been to this facility 5 times in the last 5 years, staying in different units each time. They said they all are pretty much the same. Also, this one was cleaner than some others. All in all, the price was too much for the condition of the condo. Would we return? Our daughter's family might for a lesser price. My husband and I...probably not.
Use trip advisor to confirm holiday travels, so important to post a review. We travelled with 2 teenagers - and the space was more than needed. Unit 65 was clean, nicely decorated and pretty much everything you would need. Pool area was great when we used, water a perfect temp, grounds well looked after, renters/owners were very pleasant & friendly. An older crowd, but a few 20 somethings in one unit & a few kids. Perfect if you have your own boat and /or want to rent as a private slip. A private quiet resort, so if you want to escape the craziness at some hotels, this is it. Views from our balconies were awesome. Great restaurants/fish markets close by and an hour to Key West for a day trip. My partner is a Fairmont gal - and she was very happy with the stay.
A few months ago we began to think about where we might like to go in February and since we had rented a house in Marathon a few years ago and found the area to be so tranquil and the people so friendly, we decided to check out what might be available. We contacted Barbara Mc Kee, who is affiliated with Florida Keys Vacation Rentals and she recommended a few residences including Indigo Reef. While the house we rented had three bedrooms, more beds and flat screen televisions than we could possibly use, we liked the privacy and the huge pool on the property. If we had a boat, we could have docked it at our private slip steps from our back porch! However, even though we ended up traveling by ourselves, we loved the luxury and the elegance of the resort. Although we ate out once or twice, we found the kitchen, living and dining room so enticing, we ended up buying fish from the two local fish markets and had most of our meals in our home. Since my wife and I are pretty tall, we liked the fact that the condo had a king size bed, along with a queen and two double beds! We only needed the master bedroom but if you have a large family, there is certainly room for everyone! As we were returning from the pool on our last day at the resort, one of our neighbors had just returned from his fishing trip, parked his boat and was cleaning his fish as a white heron stood by waiting for leftovers! While this is a gated community, one morning I walked two blocks to get a newspaper and dinner from one of the seafood businesses. It's incredibly convenient to everything you might need in the Florida Keys.
This home was gorgeous. The people who owned the home were super nice and accommodating. We truly felt at home from the moment we walked in the door. It was even a smooth transition for my traveling infant. I found out that when you travel with a baby they put a conch shell on your porch so others know to be courteous. I found this very sweet. Because the house back to a dock we were able to see a mom and baby manatee swim up. It was amazing to see them in the wild and not in a sanctuary or zoo, but be careful they're gassy and it smells lol. There was a gated pool right behind the house that was heated and a nice way to end each day. If I had any complaint is that the house is not mine and I can't live there forever.
