Indigo reef was the best choice we could have made. Great location. Very relaxing environment, Beautiful grounds... from the front gate to the docks. The large pool was great as well. We will definitely be returning very soon!
Spent a short week at Indigo Reef unit 23 in June 2017. The townhouse was well appointed and incredibly comfortable. My husband and I enjoyed the large pool and the beautiful grounds. Having a full kitchen was perfect for a quiet, low-key vacation. We were close to Bahia Hondo Park for snorkeling, hiking and relaxing on the beach. In addition, we enjoyed a charter fishing trip where we fished for Tarpon out of Bahia Hondo. Overall, great location for those wanting to avoid the party atmosphere of Key West and take in fishing, sun bathing and family fun. Sam, our contact for the rental was available and incredibly helpful. Can't wait to go back.
We just spent the last week in Unit 4 at Indigo Reef. The grounds, docks, and pool are very nice. These units were built in 2006 and definitely need updating. There is peeling paint on porch railings. Inside was dated with worn living room furniture that seats 5...the units sleeps 6-8. The refrigerator needed a new filter and did not keep things very cold. Ice cream sandwiches melted in the freezer, and the ice maker hardly made ice. They even had plastic ice trays in the freezer, so they know there is a problem. The bathrooms need updating. The half bath has a chunk out of the seat...not very sanitary. There are cracked floor tiles throughout. The owner has updated the bedding, but the queen bedroom dresser had a broken drawer. The boat slip for this unit is quite a distance from the condo, making it difficult to get a boat loaded for a day at sea. If bringing children, please be aware that the HOA has not updated the posted swimming pool rules. Some owners put a stop to tossing a ball around in the water and general kids playing/splashing in the pool. We used the charcoal grills provided by the dock, but we saw many people using their own grills in the grass outside their condo or in the parking lot. On a positive side, the view of the bay from the porch is beautiful and provides a great place to watch the sunset. Our daughter's family has been to this facility 5 times in the last 5 years, staying in different units each time. They said they all are pretty much the same. Also, this one was cleaner than some others. All in all, the price was too much for the condition of the condo. Would we return? Our daughter's family might for a lesser price. My husband and I...probably not.
Use trip advisor to confirm holiday travels, so important to post a review. We travelled with 2 teenagers - and the space was more than needed. Unit 65 was clean, nicely decorated and pretty much everything you would need. Pool area was great when we used, water a perfect temp, grounds well looked after, renters/owners were very pleasant & friendly. An older crowd, but a few 20 somethings in one unit & a few kids. Perfect if you have your own boat and /or want to rent as a private slip. A private quiet resort, so if you want to escape the craziness at some hotels, this is it. Views from our balconies were awesome. Great restaurants/fish markets close by and an hour to Key West for a day trip. My partner is a Fairmont gal - and she was very happy with the stay.
A few months ago we began to think about where we might like to go in February and since we had rented a house in Marathon a few years ago and found the area to be so tranquil and the people so friendly, we decided to check out what might be available. We contacted Barbara Mc Kee, who is affiliated with Florida Keys Vacation Rentals and she recommended a few residences including Indigo Reef. While the house we rented had three bedrooms, more beds and flat screen televisions than we could possibly use, we liked the privacy and the huge pool on the property. If we had a boat, we could have docked it at our private slip steps from our back porch! However, even though we ended up traveling by ourselves, we loved the luxury and the elegance of the resort. Although we ate out once or twice, we found the kitchen, living and dining room so enticing, we ended up buying fish from the two local fish markets and had most of our meals in our home. Since my wife and I are pretty tall, we liked the fact that the condo had a king size bed, along with a queen and two double beds! We only needed the master bedroom but if you have a large family, there is certainly room for everyone! As we were returning from the pool on our last day at the resort, one of our neighbors had just returned from his fishing trip, parked his boat and was cleaning his fish as a white heron stood by waiting for leftovers! While this is a gated community, one morning I walked two blocks to get a newspaper and dinner from one of the seafood businesses. It's incredibly convenient to everything you might need in the Florida Keys.
This home was gorgeous. The people who owned the home were super nice and accommodating. We truly felt at home from the moment we walked in the door. It was even a smooth transition for my traveling infant. I found out that when you travel with a baby they put a conch shell on your porch so others know to be courteous. I found this very sweet. Because the house back to a dock we were able to see a mom and baby manatee swim up. It was amazing to see them in the wild and not in a sanctuary or zoo, but be careful they're gassy and it smells lol. There was a gated pool right behind the house that was heated and a nice way to end each day. If I had any complaint is that the house is not mine and I can't live there forever.
We have been staying at Indigo Reef condo's fir the last 3 years. 3 bedrooms, heated pool and a boat slip (30') .The complex is kept in immaculate condition. The heated pool is gorgeous and the sunsets are unbelievably spectacular. We rent thru a local realtor. Cocoplumvacation@gmail.com. The manager is a young lady named Angel. Give it a shot, you will not be disappointed.
We've never been to Marathon before and found the Indigo Reef Resort on Trip Advisor. After reading all the positive reviews we decided to book it. It was a very easy booking process - no complaints at all. However the first time I spoke to Angel from Coco Plum Rentals she wasn't very friendly - maybe she was having a bad day because the following 3 times I spoke to her she was much nicer! Coco Plum Rentals provided you with all the information you needed for your stay ahead of time - the contract, payment reminder emails, check-in details and check-out details - very thorough and never had any questions. We flew into Key West airport and drove the 53 miles to the resort vs. flying into Miami and the 112 miles from there. Someone mentioned that it was 50 miles from Miami but if you MapQuest it – it says 112 miles! The resort itself was easy to find - it's actually right next/behind the Aquarium Encounters. There's a security gate at the entrance and cameras throughout the resort for security. We made our way through the resort to our townhouse and let ourselves in. The townhouse was very bright and cheerful with 3 bedrooms with comfy beds and 2.5 bathrooms. The kitchen was stocked with everything you’d need to cook, bake or make dinner with. Granite counters and stainless steel appliances. The decks - main level and off of upstairs master overlooked the canal and pool. The grounds were in pristine condition and we didn't see one piece of litter anywhere on the property. Everything was perfect! The salt-water pool was very close to our place and was one of the biggest ones I could find on the island. You need a key to get inside - it locks behind you when the door closes. There were probably 30 to 40 chairs around the pool and probably 10 umbrellas. Almost all of the wooden chaise chairs had a nice thick blue pad on them and they had a handful of white plastic chaise chairs as well. The pool area was never packed while we were there but there were days that almost every chair was taken. This lessened after New Year’s and people went home. Unfortunately there were a couple families there that didn’t seem to mind that their children were screaming non-stop. They had no respect for the other guests who were trying to relax or read a book. It’s shameful that parents don’t teach their children manners. Not the fault of the resort though. Each townhouse has their own boat-slip and fish cleaning tables were located all around the docks. We saw several jellyfish and a mama manatee by the boats one morning. It’s very peaceful and the sunsets are beautiful. Bring your insect repellant because the mosquitos and no-see-ums are out!!! Everyone seems to have about 10 bites on them before our last day and almost all of them were the no-see-ums! Grills are not allowed on the porches because the townhouses are wood-frame however; we did see 1 gas grill and a couple Weber grills on the property. They do have charcoal grills around the resort grounds but we didn’t use them. Internet service worked fine – it was better in the living room than anywhere else in the house and was a little frustrating at times but we’re on vacation so we shouldn’t let it bother us! LOL Our only complaints would be the fees - if you don’t start the dishwasher there’s a $25 fee, if you leave more than 1 load of laundry there’s a $25 fee, if you don’t take out the garbage there’s a $25 fee, if you don’t put all the pool towels back after using them there’s a $25 fee per towel. There’s a long list of things that are not allowed and it seems very excessive to me considering we pay a $200 cleaning fee. I understand that they have renters that don’t treat the property as their own so I can understand what they’re up against at times – some of it just seems very petty. My other complaint would be how clean the units are. I know they have many renters and maybe I’m a little too picky but when I see dirty door frames, dirt on the doors or things stuck on the walls I get upset. Taking a wash cloth to these areas with some cleaning solution would make a world of difference to those of us who are looking for a clean place like home. Overall we had a wonderful trip and the family has already asked if we can go back next year! Great place to stay and would recommend to others in a heartbeat! Thanks!!!
We have stayed at Indigo Reef (in all different units) for the past 5 years (every year we stayed in April...this year we stayed in Oct). We love it here! The pool is huge, heated and is a salt water pool which is wonderful. We love walking around the boat docks and looking at whatever may have swam up (often it is manatees). Each unit has an assigned boat dock (which is convenient but we have never used). We usually go with another couple but this year we took my dad and his girlfriend and my brother and his girlfriend for 2 weeks and had a great time. Each unit is slightly different with what they stock in the kitchen but most are stocked well enough to make some meals. We usually make breakfast and then snack through lunch and then go out to eat dinner. The property does have a fitness center (a little outdated, but gets the job done). There is only one parking spot per unit. There are two over flow lots but depending on where your unit is it can be quite a walk. Absolutely beautiful property and if you are splitting it with even one other couple it is about the same as staying in a hotel.
Property is beautiful and very comfortable. We were there in early September and although we enjoyed the absence of crowds, many of the local restaurants were closed for vacation. That was disappointing.
