Arrived in Florence a little early and went straight to the hotel. Firstly the elevator was TINY and could only fit one person with one suitcase which was odd but we were a little too early to check in and we were sat down in the dining area and with in 10 minutes our room was ready! Once it was ready we had a swift check in and the room was nice. The bathroom was good and clean. We opened the window to let some air in and we were glad it was double glazed because the street noise was awful but we didn't hear a thing once we closed it. Spent 2 nights there, the breakfast was average but enough for the day ahead. Check out was swift and easy. Location was also good! Would recommend!
Close to train station and very short walk to Florence's main attractions. Room was good except the air conditioner is a bit noisy and the room was still quite hot. Hotel staff very friendly and accommodating. Would recommend this hotel.
Visited beginning of April 2017. Great location; very close to shops, restaurants, Mercato Centrale, Accademia.10 minute walk to Duomo, Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio. Easy walk from Santa Maria Novella train station. Fairly quiet area, particularly rooms facing the back of the building. Our room was 3rd floor (European 3rd), with a balcony facing away from the street (#16). Balcony was very pleasant, looking out over Florence with a view of Brunelleschi’s dome. Staff at the hotel were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. My husband was not feeling well and they managed to get us into our room very early so he could rest. Breakfast was really terrific, tasty and not just continental style.
Stayed here for 7 nights and these are our thoughts, 1) Staff are really friendly and helpful when/if you need advice. 2) Rooms are serviced everyday and kept very clean 3) Despite being in the city centre we didn’t have any disturbed sleep from external noise. 4) Beds are very comfortable. 5) Our room was a classic room, was adequate in size and had a decent bathroom 6) Breakfast was more than adequate and despite the comments in some trip advisor reviews, we didn’t have any difficulty getting a table each morning. 7) Rooms have everything that you need including a safe and fridge. 8) There is a lift if you have difficulty with the stairs. 9) Location is excellent for all major sites in Florence and the railway station is only 10 minutes away for visits to other parts of Tuscany 10) Lots of good restaurants in nearby vicinity. 11) Don’t expect wonderful views from your balcony – remember it’s a city centre hotel! We were delighted that we had chosen this hotel. It provides excellent accommodation at a fair price. I would certainly use again if in Florence and thoroughly recommend it.
This hotel is very well-located and many of the rooms have nice balconies with views of gardens and the city of Florence. However, the hotel is not very well-equipped to handle large groups, particularly of young people, which our group was. We were told that the front door was closed at 11pm, but that guests could gain access easily by using the buzzer and a member of staff would allow entry. There were several instances where members of our group waited outside for quite a while at night waiting to be let in. Additionally the hotel provided only one key per room, to be turned in each time guests left the hotel - this is not suitable for rooms of 4+ people who are not necessarily travelling together at all times. Quite a few rooms were set up as double beds and the group were told they had to wait until morning for housekeeping to change them. The breakfast provided was lovely, but the eating area was not large enough for our group to eat all at once. Again, it is a nice hotel but was not the right fit for our large group.
Comfortable, but somewhat dated accommodation in a good location near the train station. There is a lift, which is unexpected in this standard hotel. The breakfast was good, with a varied buffet and good coffee.
Comfortable beds and pillows with a great shower all in the beautiful city of Florence. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Very central location with maps at reception to assist your visit. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Our accommodation was booked and paid for and when we arrived by elevator to the reception we were greeted by a very rude man saying "sorry we GAVE YOUR ROOM AWAY to a group that just arrived". He thought that by saying that he had booked us into another hotel would make everything okay but this goes to prove how unprofessional he was. When we asked how we would find the other hotel he told us to get a cab which HE WOULD NOT PAY FOR and said it would only cost about 5 Euro. What was the point in arguing we left to find the taxi he ordered and 25 Euro later we were dropped outside another establishment. With 2 heavy cases imagine our horror to find this new hotel DID NOT HAVE AN ELEVATOR but 68 stone steps to reach the top....NOT HAPPY
The hotel is located around 7-10 min walk from Firenze Santa Maria Novella train station. If you have big bags which you intend to drag, this could be a hassle as the footpaths are very narrow. But we managed to do it despite the hassle. The hotel reception is located on the 3rd floor. The staff was helpful and answered all our queries. The rooms were spacious and clean. The shower cubicle was a tad tiny but still good enough. A couple of lanes behind the hotel is a huge market with over 300 stalls which sell clothes, leather goods and anything else you can think of. A great place to buy those Italiano souvenirs for folks back home. Cross the market and you are at the heart of all the tourist sights. Most are walking distance and very easy to locate as the roads are pretty much like a grid.
My friend and I stayed at the Hotel Kursaal Ausonia about a week ago. The location is amazing (literally 5-10 min walk from the train station). I can not tell you how impressed we were with this hotel. The room has a sitting area with a daybed, and a private bedroom with a queen bed. (And private bathroom). This could very easily have slept 3 adults. The room also has an entry way with a page armoire which was lovely to put suitcases in and get them out of the way. ALSO, it has a refrigerator in the bedroom! Definitely plus and an easy way to save money by storing food/drinks for later. The hotel has free wifi, free breakfast, and free luggage storage when you check out. I'm an age where places like to charge for everything, this was such a pleasant surprise. Also there is an elevator, ALWAYS a pleasant surprise in Europe! It was also very quiet at nighty and clean! The breakfast was not your typical continental breakfast, but was amazing. I would definitely have paid for it. Homemade hot croissants, a coffee machine which made a variety of coffees, a bread toaster, yogurt, ham and cheese slices, cereal, milk, juices, and a variety of toppings for the bread (Nutella!). The staff of the hotel was also amazing. We had a tour scheduled early one morning and the breakfast wasn't open until 730 am. We had to leave before that so they made sure to have breakfast ready for us. They gave us directions several times as well as provided complimentary maps for the city! The hotel is only rated 3 stars but should be much much higher. I was so impressed with this hotel and enjoyed it much more than some other hotels that we booked that WERE four stars. This would definitely be a must book hotel, the amenities are unable to be beat, and the hotel staff was so kind and sweet. Definitely go!!!!
