Very friendly somewhat helpful staff and location pretty good although everywhere in Florence can say this. Quiet location, marginal walking distance (circa 1 Km) from station and major attractions and one block back from the river. Breakfast OK for the price. Room OK but some maintenance issues. We suffered water being cut for 24 hours out of 7 day stay (possibly not a hotel problem?). Bottled water provided for washing and drinking with temperature around freezing! Wifi was off for all but the first day and no apparent effort to either speed the repair or provide alternatives for the guests. This was a big problem. Shower worked but required maintenance...shower head partially blocked and slider coming away from the wall. I would look for somewhere else next time.
Stayed here for a week with my family after my Mother (unfortunately) booked this hotel via a travel agent in the UK. Let me begin by saying that most of the hotel staff were extremely polite and friendly apart from a senior member of staff, who I assume was the general manager and was perhaps the least professional person. The rooms are fairly basic, toilet didn’t flush properly, I would say the quality of the room was more of a 2 or 3 Star hotel. The entirety of the trip we did not have access to internet. We had to access the internet in restaurants around the city or other hotels. I need to work abroad all the time and during the seven days there seemed to be no sense of urgency to fix it. I have never experienced this in my life. When my Mother questioned this, the manager replied by questioning whether my Mother even had internet in her HOME country assuming that internet access in a third world country didn’t exist. I have worked in hospitality for years - When a hotel says it provides amenities and it fails to meet the standards they promised the last thing I expect to hear from management is an insincere apology let alone a racist comment. Really quite appalling.
After staying in a shoebox in Rome, this was a true delight. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of our room, which also boasts high ceilings giving it an even bigger feel. The staff was very helpful, spoke reasonable English, and were always ready with advice and maps of the city. The included breakfast was simple and tasty with hot eggs, bacon, sausages, etc. The hotel is in a very quiet spot beside the river and next door to the US Consulate, so there is a constant but mellow security presence. I booked De Rose Palace because of price and proximity to S.M. Novella station, but I failed to take my own luggage into consideration. It is absolutely walking distance from S.M. Novella, but when burdened with suitcases it is just a bit too unwieldy. So I called a cab which ended up being around 10e. So plan ahead if you have more than one rolling bag.
The staff at the hotel were helpful and friendly. The back of the hotel is situated one road away from the river which provided a lovely walk into town in the mornings. The front of the hotel is situated a couple of roads away from a busy main road so it meant that the hotel is in a fairly quiet area and i slept fairly well. The hotel is decorated in what i would call a 1970`s worn style that my grandmother would like but the room was warm, comfortable and spacious. The TV worked. At breakfast there was plenty of choice. It was just a base to sleep in as the real star was Florence it self which was truly wonderful. I nearly forgot but when i had a shower the water took a while to drain away. It depends on what you expect for your money but it was good value for what i paid and we felt safe and relaxed there.
On arrival the hotel staff were friendly, as they were throughout our stay here. Our room was clean and the air conditioner was good, the bathroom was a little tired but was was very big and clean. The breakfast was good, lots of choices each morning the staff were very polite and helpful.
Ilenia and Giada-----hello from us. You both were so nice during our stay in Firenze. The hotel is lucky to have working for them. True, hotel is not perfect, but for the price, it is a nice location. We were able to walk everywhere. Enjoyed walking by the river at night.
WARNING: DO NOT STAY HERE. This place has more positive reviews on Trip Advisor than anywhere else on the internet, please read reviews on other sites because the positive reviews here do NOT reflect the quality of this hotel. When we arrived the lobby was very outdated but quaint, not that alarming. Staff was very nice. On the walk up to our room, we started to doubt the quality of this hotel. We booked the hotel for 3 nights off of Priceline's name your price and requested a 4 star hotel so we were expecting a certain level of quality. In the hallway there was toilet paper and half drunk water bottles on side tables lining the walls. We entered the room, the bed was fine but the throw pillows on the bed were at least 20 years old. Still, we were fine. And then we saw the bathroom. There was black mold lining every bit of the shower. The paint in the shower was peeling off. We both needed a shower, we learned it did not drain well. So there I am standing in a moldy shower, trying with ALL my might to not touch the walls, then I'm having to stand in water that's up to my ankles in mildew residue off the floor of the shower. You couldn't walk barefoot in the room because the floors were so dirty. We stayed one night here and booked a hotel elsewhere because we couldn't stay in this place another night. THIS IS NOT A 4 STAR HOTEL. Spend $50 more and stay closer to everything in Florence and avoid this uncleanly stay. We were unable to get our money back after calling Priceline because "we did not ask for another room," but trust me, this place didn't have a better room to offer. We wanted to warn others about the misleading advertisement of this place as a 4 star hotel.
Lovely staff who welcome you. Very helpful with maps and directions. Clean and tidy air conditioned rooms with good wifi. Close to the centre of town but far enough out to be away from most tourists. Only a short walk to the train station and numerous attractions.
We stayed at De Rose Palace Hotel for 2 nights with our one year old kid. The hotel is located near the Arno river and most of the tourist spots are within walking distance. The room we stayed in was cozy but little small with our baby. Not much space to keep our stuff. The AC effect was also low. The breakfast they served was okay. However all the staff were extremely warm. Though they didn't have much info like when we asked the reception about reaching a particular place. The hotel will be great for a couple but not family. But yes the location made our stay great!
Traditional Italian hotel, near train station and located on quiet neighborhood near US embassy. We spent three days in Florence and it provides us place to rest peacefully after walking journey. It don't have what you look at design hotel with new rooms and lots of amenities. It's simple and oriented for bed and breakfast, which is very good indeed. Sympathy is present on all employees.
