De Rose Palace Hotel4.0 out of 5.0

We travel a lot and regular stay at both 4* and 5* hotels. In my opinion, some aspects of this hotel would meet the 4* criteria, but it is not there in its entirety. We recently spent 4 nights at the De Rose Palace Hotel in Florence. The room and en suite were nicely decorated. The hotel lounge is charming and the dining room adequate. However, in our room, the picture on the TV was too big for the screen so part of it was cut off and there were NO English channels. There are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room and my husband’s enquiry about this was met with an abrupt no. Some of the staff are polite and friendly. The breakfast is repetitive and uninspiring. There is a sign telling you to eat as much as you like but not to take any food out of the dining room. You are then constantly watched to ensure this does not happen. Nothing is replenished until it has completely run out. The hotel is not 10 minutes away from the Centre even if you walk briskly, but it is located in a quiet area away from the main hustle and bustle, which is definitely a positive. Also, the air conditioning is brilliant and ensures you have a good night’s sleep, even on the hottest of days. Good potential but not there yet.
We have a wonderful stay at the De Rosa Palace hotel and I must say the service at the front desk was incredible. The information and help rendered were superb, very approachable and pleasant service. The location may slightly away from city center but that is where one can get a restful, quiet night sleep after a full day of outing. It's near to river Arno and one can have a nice walk along the embankment towards most attractive sites in the city such as Ponte Vecchio, Piazza and cathedrals. It's about 30 minutes walk to the Firenze SMN railway station that connects to other neighboring cities of which is Pisa and Milan. Breakfast was sumptuous and rooms clean. Mostly my thanks to the front counter service and their professionalism.
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and the stay was really comfortable and good. The hotel has a charm about itself, it is family owned and really well looked after. During the Christmas, the staff was the family itself, and they were really good and friendly. Room was clean and had comfortable bed. It is very close to the river Arno, so one can go for long walks along the river which is quite pleasant. Breakfast was good and had many options, though the space is quite small, but when we stayed there weren't many guests so it was comfortable for us. Walking distance from the main railway station of Florence is around 10 mins. Would stay here again if back in the lovely city of Florence.
Nice cozy boutique hotel. Great location in a quiet neighborhood. Walking distance to attraction. Yes... better to walk than taking a taxi. You will arrive faster for free. Lots of restaurant and cafe nearby. Clean room and bathroom. Breakfast very plain same thing every day. Excellent staff.
We stayed here last April and while we read some negative reviews before booking, we had no problems and the hotel has apparently improved a lot in the recent years. We were glad to get away from the crowds after a long day and this location was close enough, but far enough away from the center. We had about a 10 minute walk from the station and it was good to see what shops and restaurants were in the vicinity. The staff was polite and helpful and we enjoyed our short stay here. We had a corner room and opened the windows for a pleasant breeze. I'd stay here again anytime.
We stayed there for 1 night in April. Great location by the river & about 10 min walk from the station. Good sized rooms and a lot of selections for breakfast. Friendly staff who were very helpful. Only issue was the shower was clogged when we got there.
Very friendly somewhat helpful staff and location pretty good although everywhere in Florence can say this. Quiet location, marginal walking distance (circa 1 Km) from station and major attractions and one block back from the river. Breakfast OK for the price. Room OK but some maintenance issues. We suffered water being cut for 24 hours out of 7 day stay (possibly not a hotel problem?). Bottled water provided for washing and drinking with temperature around freezing! Wifi was off for all but the first day and no apparent effort to either speed the repair or provide alternatives for the guests. This was a big problem. Shower worked but required maintenance...shower head partially blocked and slider coming away from the wall. I would look for somewhere else next time.
Stayed here for a week with my family after my Mother (unfortunately) booked this hotel via a travel agent in the UK. Let me begin by saying that most of the hotel staff were extremely polite and friendly apart from a senior member of staff, who I assume was the general manager and was perhaps the least professional person. The rooms are fairly basic, toilet didn’t flush properly, I would say the quality of the room was more of a 2 or 3 Star hotel. The entirety of the trip we did not have access to internet. We had to access the internet in restaurants around the city or other hotels. I need to work abroad all the time and during the seven days there seemed to be no sense of urgency to fix it. I have never experienced this in my life. When my Mother questioned this, the manager replied by questioning whether my Mother even had internet in her HOME country assuming that internet access in a third world country didn’t exist. I have worked in hospitality for years - When a hotel says it provides amenities and it fails to meet the standards they promised the last thing I expect to hear from management is an insincere apology let alone a racist comment. Really quite appalling.
After staying in a shoebox in Rome, this was a true delight. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of our room, which also boasts high ceilings giving it an even bigger feel. The staff was very helpful, spoke reasonable English, and were always ready with advice and maps of the city. The included breakfast was simple and tasty with hot eggs, bacon, sausages, etc. The hotel is in a very quiet spot beside the river and next door to the US Consulate, so there is a constant but mellow security presence. I booked De Rose Palace because of price and proximity to S.M. Novella station, but I failed to take my own luggage into consideration. It is absolutely walking distance from S.M. Novella, but when burdened with suitcases it is just a bit too unwieldy. So I called a cab which ended up being around 10e. So plan ahead if you have more than one rolling bag.
The staff at the hotel were helpful and friendly. The back of the hotel is situated one road away from the river which provided a lovely walk into town in the mornings. The front of the hotel is situated a couple of roads away from a busy main road so it meant that the hotel is in a fairly quiet area and i slept fairly well. The hotel is decorated in what i would call a 1970`s worn style that my grandmother would like but the room was warm, comfortable and spacious. The TV worked. At breakfast there was plenty of choice. It was just a base to sleep in as the real star was Florence it self which was truly wonderful. I nearly forgot but when i had a shower the water took a while to drain away. It depends on what you expect for your money but it was good value for what i paid and we felt safe and relaxed there.
