Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Va Beach Oceanfront, an IHG Hotel

I absolutely love this hotel. My husband and I just got married on 8.18.2023 and we decided to do a mini quick vacation after or wedding to VA beach and this hotel gets 10 stars from me.. from the service, to the food, to the room and the staff !!! I would highly recommend this hotel and will be returning next time I visit VA beach

I loved that the property location. It clean, looks like it newly renovated, friendly employees. I did not like air conditioning blowing on my bed. I did not like that property did not use paper cups. They use plastic and styrofoam cups and plates, which is harmful for the environment.

Very convenient to the beach. Breakfast is a great perk: convenient and saves money and time. Room could have been a little cleaner, but it was acceptable. Excellent ocean view. Some nearby properties are set back a bit so views to the side are blocked by the building next door. Not this one. You could see the beach in both directions. I wish it was a little less expensive and I wish there was more parking on site rather than a block away. If you are lucky you might get a spot out front, but they were all full when we checked in. We moved to a close spot the next day when other guests checked out and spots opened up.

We stayed in a newly renovated room and it was definitely nice. The view of the ocean is amazing also. My only complaints are the balcony is a tad small and if it was like a foot bigger It wouldn’t feel so cramped. And the second and 3rd parking areas are a little inconvenient. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

The staff were amazing. The only concern was the A/C unit in our room that wasnt kicking out any cold air.

The room was big but, you could smell urine strong at night. I guess it was the carpet. We had a King size bed which was comfortable. The complementary breakfast was pretty good. You could tell that the place needed some upgrades. The water pressure was really bad in the shower. The sliding door was hard to open but the view of the beach was great. After the renovation I would give them another chance.

The location is great: Virginia Beach, not far from the Neptune statue. The continental breakfast and complimentary coffee was a nice touch. The gym has new equipment and was very clean. An attendee came check items while I was working out. It was good to see that as well.

Nice hotel. Can not beat the beach view. Staff was friendly. Located right on the ocean with beautiful views. Walking distance to several nice places to eat. However, our door lock never wanted to unlock with the key. Bathroom smelled like urine when the shower was on. Also very low water pressure in the shower. Made showering after a day at the beach difficult. I would stay here again. Just a few things could have gone better.

The property was generally acceptable, but the condition of the room was not the best. For example we could not open the sliding door without waking the kids up at night because it was in bad condition and needed maintenance. There was also a makeshift lock on it.

The view is magnificent, right on the beach. That’s the best part of our stay. The hotel looked like it hadn’t been updated since the 80’s and needed work. Our room had a wallpaper swatch STAPLED to the wall. Bedding, towels, carpets were run down. Very little contact with staff because of COVID, but they seemed nice. Parking was overloaded most of the time, so we parked at an adjacent, unsecured lot. Wouldn’t stay here again.

Staff was great! Breakfast was fresh, but would have loved a change up with meats, instead of Turkey sausage/chicken most days. Where’s the bacon? :-). Didn’t like that we paid for two suites and had to scramble to find parking onsite, plus we arrived after a 6-hour drive and one suite wasn’t ready until 2 hours after the 4’o’clock checkin. No discount for inoperable pool/gym. That sucked!

The room was pretty nice but dusty in spots which I believe was from the work being done at the hotel. There was construction work going on below our room that started in the morning and contiued all day. We were there for our granddaughter's wedding and weren't at the hotel a lot or would have been pretty upset with this. The view was gorgeous from the balcony and we watched the dolphins every day. Staff were awesome and the breakfast buffet was very good.

The staff were friendly, the hotel seemed clean enough. The bed seemed fairly new. But it is very much in a state of dis-repair. No where near what I've come to expect from a Holiday Inn Express. Water was leaking through the ceiling into the pool with chunks of ceiling missing, the handrail getting out of the hot tub was cobbled together as a repair. Letters and numbers missing from signs and hand-written in. The carpet in the room was very frayed and pulled up. A piece on the toilet was broken (did not affect function but the flush button was allowed to wiggle around a good bit). The utilities closet was supposed to be locked, but the lock didn't work properly and the door was easily opened. The utilities closet was also fairly noisy. The electronic key lock from the beach to next to the pool didn't work so we had to enter through the dining area. There were a ton of cosmetic imperfections as well. While not an issue, per-say, I have come to expect a much higher standard from Holiday Inn Express hotels. It basically looks like random handymen were hired for installs and repairs instead of a true professional. Overall, our stay was fine, but the physical hotel itself was very disappointing.

The best thing about the hotel is the location, on the beach and great view. Very old and outdated, staff not friendly. Have to park off site on busy days as no parking around hotel. Very noisy neighbors for 6 nights, up till 1 a.m. and up at 6 a.m. Would not stay there again. So many other nicer places.
