The way the Plaza is advertised, I expected much more than what I got. The room's furniture was run down looking, and the bed was saggy. I thought it was more like a Motel 6 or Econo Lodge or another 2-star hotel rather than a 3-star . Having stayed at great places in Fiji, I expected it to be in better shape. Now, as for the staff--they were very friendly and very helpful. I was impressed with them.
Stayed here whilst attending the Oceania Rugby Sevens. Fantastic staff who could not do enough for you. Breakfast was great with the omelette top notch. Dinner was of a good standard and ate there each night as it was good, liked the house curry which was tasty and filling. Room we stayed in had recently been done up and was done to a high standard, was clean and had everything you needed for this type of trip, bed was large and comfortable, water pressure for the shower was a little low but that maybe just what it is like for that area. Has a swimming pool and the bar service was good with all the drinks needed on offer Would stay there again.
Tanoa Plaza suva was used to be a good hotel . I have stayed at Tanoa several times when I visited Suva. However this time when I stayed there I faced a few unpleasant things. The commode seat was smaller than the commode and when you sit in it it could not be avoided making yourself touching the commode rim. Further the bed spreads were not properly cleaned or were not changed . There were stains and marks on the bed spread. One of the pillow cases didn’t look fresh and there were wrinkles on it as if some one has used it before. It is a shame that one time a good hotel is neglecting room service and maintenance this way.
Staff are great at this hotel. Breakfast was pretty good too. Rooms are decent, but they are infested with bed bugs. They need to replace every mattress in this hotel (they are old and have actual holes in them, which is clearly where the bed bugs are hiding) before this hotel can be considered safe to stay at. I hope they get the funds to do this as it’s in a great location, the rooms have a really nice view and as I said, the staff are great and accommodating.
The hotel is around 10 minutes walk from Downtown and 45 drive from the airport. Staff are vert pleasant and helpful. Rooms are a nice size, and comfortable. The bed is nice and hard and everything is spotless. The wifi is free. Bathroom is fairly standard, and showers have hot water.
Overlooks the government buildings and agencies of Suva, a few blocks away from the seafront and town areas. Convenient for business trips, good breakfasts included in your room price. Smaller rooms on lower floors very average and a bit tired- definitely recommend the executive suites on the upper level for space and great views. Friendly efficient staff made all the difference. The lunch and dinner menu does not have a lot of variation so best to find other places to eat out. The pool was fine but was in the shade in the afternoons and not a terribly appealing place to spend much time. Not far to walk to museum, Grand Pacific Hotel, and the gardens and about 10 minutes to town. Taxis frequent and only a couple of dollars if you are doing a short trip. Wifi is expensive and by the hour.
Spent two nights at Tanoa Plaza and I gotta say the friendly nature of the staff made my stay very enjoyable. The rooms are spacious enough for a quick stop over and as the hotel is located in the heart of Suva is pretty accessible to the various restaurants on the seafront if one is keen to explore. The food menu is affordable and delicious. My choice again next time I stop over in Suva!!!
This is my hotel of choice in Suva. Location is handy to town and staff are really friendly. The rooms are fairly basic but well serviced and have everything you need. Has a small swimming pool and restaurant on site. Nice breakfast in the morning. Very happy with my stays here.
We stayed here in June. Had booked for 3 nights through Booking.com but cancelled 20 minutes after arrival as there were no other rooms available to transfer to. The room pictured seems ok - it's not. It is a shoebox, it is filthy, with thick dust in the corner under the side table, and there were stains on the furniture. For what you get, the price is overpriced and extremely disappointing - I would expect to pay NZ50 for this room, not the NZ260 it was. The only positive was the front desk staff who were friendly even with my distress about the room.
Rooms are very small with a very large and noisy air condition unit which makes it very hard to sleep at night. Wife and I were slightly disappointed seeing as how the hotel is very central but significantly less attractive compared to others of significant reputation in Suva. Front desk and kitchen staff however were very good and friendly so this lifted the mood of the place. Overall it cost more to stay here then it did for wife and I to stay at a place which was even more central and fully self contained in Suva
