I have been staying at Tanoa Plaza Suva for the past five years each time I come to Suva on business, so have gotten to know the staff and seen the staff changes over that time. On my last stay which was just last week, I was upgraded to the Executive Suite. What an absolute blessing. Thank you Tanoa Plaza, and a special thank you to Joseph on the front desk. Your professionalism and personality make you the ideal 'front desk' person, and a brilliant advocate for Tanoa Plaza. Your attention to detail makes the guests feel special. Vinaka vaka levu.
We stayed at the Tanoa for 3 nights. We found the stay very nice with the staff being very friendly however I had a All Black Maori Rugby Jersey taken from my luggage at some stage. I realised once I got to our next Hotel in Denarau. Very disappointing after a nice stay there.
The room window allows you to see the mighty Pacific Ocean and the drizzle around. The staff is friendly and courteous.I was surprised to see Hindi speaking staff so far from India.Vegetarian food was available just by saying NO MEAT. I found every thing good but for the fact that room were small and Bathroom congested.
I would like to thank the restaurant staff, Alisi and Miri for their friendly and attentive service. They were always circulating around to attend to the customers. The breakfast food was nicely laid out every morning. I liked having a good selection of fruits to choose. Since the climate is tropical it was lite and easy to handle. Had no regrets.
Visited Suva as part of some international development work in the South Pacific. The hotel was pretty average - the rooms were all tiled and felt a bit like a boarding establishment. The breakfast food selection was limited and not really to my liking - albeit I have a very western breakfast pallet. Overall it was an OK place to stay when trying to minimise spend.
Bula Vinaka to all the Front Desk Staff led by Miri and the Hospitality provided by the Happy Hour Staff led by Alisi. Fantastic service with smiles and Fijian humor that kept my fried David Spring and myself laughing. Though it was a short business trip and being a regular guest staying at Tanoa Hotel in Nadi and Tanoa Plaza in Suva with my family, the staff of Tanoa Plaza as usual were very helpful. Keep up the good work and Fijian hospitality Alisi and Miri. See you again in my next trip to Suva with my family. Vinaka Rishi
Rooms and service was great. Staff know your name as soon as you get there. Makes a difference. Dining staff very attentive. They worked a few things for us around Happy Hour which was nice. Alisi (head waitress?), has the team working really well and they do whatever they can for you. Location is excellent to town, the bay, office locations, night life. Will stay there for sure upon next visit to Suva. Free Wifi would be helpful, as I was on business there and email access was something I had to think about instead of being easy.
I had some trepidation about staying here after reading the other reviews, and while I could see how all those things are possible, it wasn't my experience at all. The staff were friendly and quite helpful, and from the "welcome" chocolate chip cookies in my room to the delicious breakfasts, made it a pleasant stay. The pool was decent, but with the recent rains it had a bit of silt that needed to be cleaned out. Short walk to Albert Park, the sea wall, and town. My company tried booking by calling them directly, and were quoted a significantly higher rate than what you can easily find online. Good place to stay and worth a few minutes to book online at a better rate.
This hotel is not great. Ok for a convenient location if you need to be near heart of Suva. Room is very basic. The furnishings made the place feel dirty and we saw a cockroach in the bathroom. Our toilet was hung on the wall crooked which was really uncomfortable! Internet service extremely disappointing. Dropping out every few minutes and having to constantly reconnect and request a new password. Not really acceptable when trying to work. Staff were very friendly and did their best to accomodate requests. The breakfast was a very low standard. The bacon, sausages and deli meat all looked to be dry and appeared old. The bread was stale & staff would be handling food without gloves and then clearing tables which made us question hygiene. They did offer fresh cooked omelette which tasted good.
I stayed here for a while when working in Suva. The rooms are tidy and room service quick and efficient. The pool area is not much, and the restaurant service is very hit and miss. Often while at breakfast, the staff would be missing. I wouldn't get a coffee offered sometimes for ten minutes (often had to ask the server). Other times the chefs are AWOL leaving no one to make the eggs or omelettes which are really the only thing worth eating at the breakfast buffet. For the breakfast buffet, they have some cereals, soggy hashbrowns, bacon, sausage, and pancakes. Go with the omelettes by far the best option though sometimes they forget your order when its busy so you have to be vigilant like a hawk to make sure they aren't goofing off. We stayed around the holidays so my theory regarding their random service level, is that when management is in, they are very punctual, courteous and on-time with service. The second management is gone, chefs go missing, servers ignore customers and you have to be pushy to get what you want. We only ate dinner in the hotel once, which was a nightmare for me. We ordered entrees, which were okay (calamari nothing complicated) but my main took forever. First I ordered an eggplant ravioli dish which on the menu had a choice of sauce, either a pesto or tomato marinara sauce. I ordered the marinara sauce. The server was confused. She came back five minutes after taking our orders to double check I wanted the tomato marinara sauce- I said yes. All seem well. Then my colleagues dinner came, not mine. After forever, which he ate his dish, I had my pesto ravioli come out. I sent it back. Finally the dish came out, barely cooked pasta, frozen I suspect, without apologies. Never eat dinner in the hotel. WAY overpriced for Fiji, no quality, horrendous service. I don't want this review to focus on the negative dinner experience I had, they did a great job of getting into the Christmas cheer. The lobby had Christmas music playing, with balloon decorations.
