Tanoa Plaza Suva

Rooms are very small with a very large and noisy air condition unit which makes it very hard to sleep at night. Wife and I were slightly disappointed seeing as how the hotel is very central but significantly less attractive compared to others of significant reputation in Suva. Front desk and kitchen staff however were very good and friendly so this lifted the mood of the place. Overall it cost more to stay here then it did for wife and I to stay at a place which was even more central and fully self contained in Suva

What a pleasant stay at the Tanoa plaza hotel. We were greeted with a lovely smile and made to feel welcome instantly. Unfortunately our room was ready on arrival (we were early), but they went out their way to make up a room for us and even put us on a floor to avoid the renovation work. In addition, they offered me a complimentary cappuccino while I waited. I was especially impressed with a young man at the front desk called 'david' who went out of his way to provide a first class service. Not only did he help me sort my transfer to Nadi, he went out of his way to ensure our stay was wonderful (on our honeymoon). He is the epitome of first class service and I hope the management would reward him for his effort. The room was well maintained and had everything you would expect a decent 4* hotel to have. Hot water, decent size bed and tv with English channels. We hardly stayed in our rooms as there was things to see and fine restaurants to sample a few minutes away on Victoria road. The hotel is steeped in history and they are renovating the entire hotel to give it a contemporary feel for guests. The breakfast, which was included was decent and all the staff were friendly and hospitable. Can't complain about my stay at Tanoa plaza hotel and would recommend this hotel to anybody. Good work and keep it up!

The management has improved a lot. Wi-fi is available to all guests but is slower this year than last year. Beds are comfortable, the front desk is always helpful and cheerful. Breakfast can improve a lot by increasing the variety from one day to another.

Check-in was fast and smooth, but what a disappointment the room was! Described as a ”superior” room by the hotelbooking site, the room was promised to be 35 sqm. Not so – it was less than 24 sqm (I actually used a measuring tape since the difference was so obvious) but the front desk assured me it was a ”superior” one. Nevertheless, the room was dark and dismal, and in desperate need of a makeover. The grey colour of the wall behind the bed and the very plain yellowish wooden furniture made the room resemble an assylum, not a hotel room. Perhaps this could have been modern in the 1970s? The bed was too soft. Cleaning didn’t appear very thorough – there was a bottlecap left on the nightstand when I arrived. The bathroom is equally dated with cracked tiles on the walls, but water pressure in the shower was good. A/C was noisy but effective. Wifi is insanely expensive at 40 FJD (approx. 20 USD) per day, so I didn’t try it. There was also a connecting door to the adjacent room, which probably contributed to the noise level – I could hear all the discussions, all the music and tv shows and even the maid moving furniture in the room next door. Fortunately my neighbours slept more or less at the same time as I did, and didn’t snore. However, when checking out, the receptionist asked how my stay was and we entered into a discussion about the condition of the rooms. She informed me they have a full renovation planned, and it should start this year. That should pretty much change the picture. Staff was friendly and helpful both at the front desk and in the restaurant. Breakfast is daily 6:30–10:30 and there was a buffet with a selection of both hot and cold items, as well as fresh fruit. A chef was on duty to prepare eggs and omelettes aux choice. Dinner was okay, nothing more, nothing less.

I have been staying at Tanoa Plaza Suva for the past five years each time I come to Suva on business, so have gotten to know the staff and seen the staff changes over that time. On my last stay which was just last week, I was upgraded to the Executive Suite. What an absolute blessing. Thank you Tanoa Plaza, and a special thank you to Joseph on the front desk. Your professionalism and personality make you the ideal 'front desk' person, and a brilliant advocate for Tanoa Plaza. Your attention to detail makes the guests feel special. Vinaka vaka levu.

We stayed at the Tanoa for 3 nights. We found the stay very nice with the staff being very friendly however I had a All Black Maori Rugby Jersey taken from my luggage at some stage. I realised once I got to our next Hotel in Denarau. Very disappointing after a nice stay there.

The room window allows you to see the mighty Pacific Ocean and the drizzle around. The staff is friendly and courteous.I was surprised to see Hindi speaking staff so far from India.Vegetarian food was available just by saying NO MEAT. I found every thing good but for the fact that room were small and Bathroom congested.

I would like to thank the restaurant staff, Alisi and Miri for their friendly and attentive service. They were always circulating around to attend to the customers. The breakfast food was nicely laid out every morning. I liked having a good selection of fruits to choose. Since the climate is tropical it was lite and easy to handle. Had no regrets.

Visited Suva as part of some international development work in the South Pacific. The hotel was pretty average - the rooms were all tiled and felt a bit like a boarding establishment. The breakfast food selection was limited and not really to my liking - albeit I have a very western breakfast pallet. Overall it was an OK place to stay when trying to minimise spend.

Bula Vinaka to all the Front Desk Staff led by Miri and the Hospitality provided by the Happy Hour Staff led by Alisi. Fantastic service with smiles and Fijian humor that kept my fried David Spring and myself laughing. Though it was a short business trip and being a regular guest staying at Tanoa Hotel in Nadi and Tanoa Plaza in Suva with my family, the staff of Tanoa Plaza as usual were very helpful. Keep up the good work and Fijian hospitality Alisi and Miri. See you again in my next trip to Suva with my family. Vinaka Rishi
