Plantation Island Resort

WE went to Plantation Island for our son's wedding with most of the family including our Grand children, The resort itself is set up for Family's with children in mind. The little ones always had something to do whether that was swimming in one of the 3-4 pools or in the pristine waters surrounding the island, we took our 5 year grand daughter on a boat to a reef for some snorkeling and at all times we felt safe. The accommodation was not 1st class but comfortable. The prices on the island are quite expensive for everyday things such as ice creams etc but all in all I would recommend the island to any family who was looking for a short or long vacation. Fly time from sydney was only 3.5 Hrs. Enjoy

Great family holiday. Great facilities and food. Water sports were great, free life jackets, kayaks and use of the water park. Kids club was enjoyed by the kids. Only downsides are no pool aside service lol and the kids pool is the deepest at one end.

We have just returned from a 9 day family holiday at Plantation Island Resort, we traveled with 2 other families. Having never visited Fiji before we didn't know what to expect. We LOVED Plantation Island! The food at the Buffet was brilliant each night and we really enjoyed the themed food nights. We have restaurants ourselves and appreciated the big effort it takes to prepare food for the amount of people Plantation caters for every day when they are at 100% occupancy. Breakfast was extensive and delicious. The 'egg cooks' were the highlight for us, and the beautiful fruit and GF options. The waiters and waitress' are very obliging, and good to have a laugh with esp Jim, Seva and Apii. We stayed in a one bedroom Garden Bure, it was clean and tidy and serviced daily by the lovely and hard working Seba. There was plenty of room for our family of 5. The water park was a highlight for the children and they loved using the canoes and snorkling. Plantation Island is a great family holiday destination and fully recommend it to other travellers. We came to Plantation with no expectations and left having had the best holiday we have ever had.

This was our 2nd trip to Plantation having stayed previously in April 2015, 2 adults, 3 boys, 11,9 and 6. None of us wanted to leave again. It is such a beautiful place, gorgeous beaches, beautiful water, you can do as much or as little as you want. Our boys absolutely loved the water park and spent their time between there and the swimming pools. The snorkelling on the Lomani side is excellent, our studio ocean bure was perfect for our needs. It's a fantastic resort for families with kids, with something for everyone to enjoy and I highly recommend it!

To be honest I didn't have huge expectations of plantation island but it was a fantastic holiday getaway. Our studio garden Burre had been recently renovated and was very clean and tidy. The room was well appointed and felt quite spacious even with the kids in the same room. We were very central to the 3 pools and restaurants. Buffet breakfast was very extensive and the only thing missing was real coffee but that was available for extra at the drinks hut. We tried just about every cold drink at the drinks hut and all were delicious. The pineapple smoothie and iced coffee were particularly good!! Buffet dinner was great too - book in and you'll get a table outside. Kids buffet was well received and they enjoyed having ice cream cones. Black coral was delicious food but the worst service the night we went. I'm not sure if they just forgot us? You'll need to book to get a table. We used kids club for a few movie nights and visited the Lomani restaurant (no kids) it was great and fab service. Weds and Saturday night you get a great free show too. Expect to eat the buffet the first night if you haven't prebooked else where. Snorkelling trip was very much enjoyed by those that went. Staff were very friendly. Few suggestions - a sunshade over the pools. Any pool! - poolside bar service would be awesome, even between set hours.

Our family left Plantation Island Resort absolutely glowing with happiness. Yes it is not a flash 5 star resort, but this place has a great relaxed atmosphere and does family holidays really, really well. Kids club was awesome. Our biggie attended every day and our littlie with a babysitter, they both had blast. After seeing kids club at the pool one day we decided not to send either kid when they had pool sessions, the supervision was a bit too relaxed for littlies who are not confident swimmers. If you would not leave them for a few minutes alone in a pool, maybe don't send them to the pool sessions. Kids of all ages are well catered to by the resort, I was amazed to see so many teenagers getting involved and having a lot of fun, this place is not just the younger ones. The nightly torch lighting ceremony was a highlight for our kids, as was the fire dancing. The food was pretty good, and the kids buffet was better than we have seen at any other Fiji resort. The cost of food and drinks is a common issue in the reviews for all Fijian resorts, but we thought the food plan was decent value compared to other places we have stayed. I especially enjoyed the pineapple and banana smoothies from the Coco Hut, we found the breakfast and dinner on the meal plan plus a smoothie in the middle of the day plenty. The mini mart is quite decent so we found no need to bring snacks and drinks with us from the mainlain. Otherwise Musket Cove is only a 10 minute walk away and has a much larger one. The free water refills were great to see and appreciated, I wish more resorts did this, it cuts down on costs and the environmental impact. Our garden studio bure was a bit tired and worn, but it was large and comfortable, and the louvered windows, the lovely garden setting, and the practically beach front location were far more important to us. The hammocks are awesome, they are everywhere. The gardens are lovely, and the bures well spaced out. The beach on the Lomani side is stunning and straight out of a tropical island fantasy. We were there in the busy school holiday period, but this place is so well spaced out we never felt crowded. To top it all off the staff at PIR must be the greatest in Fiji! Incredibly friendly and efficient. There was no sign of 'Fiji time' here, everyone knew what they were doing and did it well. Our 2 year old was treated like a rock star, she is still getting over the fact that she is not carried around and cuddled every meal time by at least 5 different people. Thanks PIR.

This was our second time back to Plantation and it was so much better this time: we had the perfect family holiday! We travelled with our two children, 4.5 and nearly 3 years old and had a beachfront bure, which we highly recommend for families. The little ones could be in and out of the bure and to the beach while we were on our deck chairs keeping an eye on them. The accommodation was spacious and clean. The beach was idyllic. The children loved the pools, particularly the water slide and the pool with the island in the middle. We hired bula bikes which made it easier to get around in the heat - the children found it a bit difficult at first. We used the bikes to go over to the store at Musket Cove, which was handy for snacks. The biggest surprise though was the food: it had improved so much! Last time we were a bit unenthused about the buffet. However, we ate there 5/7 nights this trip and the food was lovely: fresh, healthy and delicious. We went back to Plantation Island this year thinking it was just the easy option: we came away thinking it was a wonderful holiday and that we will definitely be back! Well done to all of the staff: we had a fabulous time. Thank you!

Were here this time last year and things have improved in this time. The service has improved, especially at Black Coral (last year very slow) as has the overall quality of the food at the Buffet. The whole place looks like it has had a tidy up and was in almost pristine condition. Being School holidays, it was busy, but at no time did it feel over crowded. Unfortunately Anandas' restaurant was closed as they were doing improvements to that end of the resort, but this work had no impact on the quality of our stay. Staff were happy and the room service (cleaning) was very efficient this time. Very impressed with being recognised as a returning guest (without advising them) and having a small thankyou for this. Were there 7 nights and had a fantastic time. 2 x Adults, 3 kids (14, 10, 8) Would still highly recommend this for a fun, relaxing family getaway!!

Nothing bad to say, had a great time however it was a little busy for us. It would be nice if there was a seperate area for adults without having to go to Lomani Resort. Activities guys were superb - Mike's such a funny guy. House keeping superb. We had Teresa and she was always lovely and took care of us. Restaurant - all wonderful but Oni stood out for us, such a lovely young lady. Bula bikes - Wyse is a great guy looking after all those bikes and keeping the kids occupied. Scuba - the dive crew are great and managed to return my husband every day, thanks boys. xo The string band members - all of them - we've been doing the islands of Fiji for 16 years and these guys rate with the best of them. Thanks for the beautiful songs, a wonderful birthday song for our daughter and for keeping my husband - the Kava King - in a happy place the whole time. You are fantastic. Kids Club guys are the most fun. We didn't go there a lot but we had a blast when we did. And huge thanks to Leone for showing me how to cook like a true Fijian - love your work. Bula Malolo Lai Lai and Vinaka Vaka Levu for a wonderful time.

This was our 3rd visit, we loved holidaying there with our family but as it had been 3 1/2 yrs since our last visit the prices on everything had pretty much doubled so be prepared to pay 10 to 14 dollars Fijian for a beer and f$18 for a block of cheese. Not sure it was worth the accomodation prices either as it really only a 2 to 3 star resort and they are asking 5 star prices
