Had a lovely time in Fiji. The hotel was average.Taxi drivers very nice.Gardens of the Sleeping Giant highly recommend a visit,a photographers dream. The wonderful staff at Awesome tours.I booked through shop in Nadi.Personalised tour which covered all places in my wish list.
We stayed five nights in a poolside room. The beds are the most comfortable I have had in a very long time. The staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. We arrived early so were able to put our luggage in the secure area while we did a little shopping at Jetpoint next door. With the nightclub next door it pays to ask for a room away from the noise as it does go until 4/5am on the weekends. At the moment there are significant roadworks going on outside the hotel so there are no paths and it is a little difficult crossing the road at times.
Due to some miscommunication even though we booked the room 4 days before we were told that we had to wait for 5 more hours before we could check in. So we are there at reception with all our luggage, tired with lack of sleep after just arriving into the country. The lady receptionist didn't even offer any help about keeping our luggage somewhere but just bluntly dismissed us.
My friend and I were on our budget trip to Fiji for 5 days. We stayed 3 nights at Capricorn and enjoyed every single minute of it. We were warmly welcomed when we checked in after an overnight trip from Asia. (Free shuttles to/from the airport!) The facilities at Capricorn might seem minimal and outdated to those who are used to luxurious hotels, but they are actually nice considering the price you pay (not much at all). We loved their continental breakfast (included) every morning. A supermarket, a few bakeries, several restaurants, a cinema, and a pharmacy are located right next to the hotel as well as the bus stop. The bus fare is 70 cents to the bus terminal in downtown. We took an express bus ($5.95) to Sigatoka from the terminal. We paid additional $1 to Kula Adventure World. We took a bus to the bus terminal and another one for Port Denarau where there is a very nice shopping center. Boats are available from there to various beautiful islands. Capricorn is not a beach front hotel, but their swimming area is very nice and relaxing. Overall. we loved the hotel and the staff members!
That the booking and website stated that there was satellite TV in the rooms was untrue, as it is only available at the bar. This needs to be changed on their personal Capricorn International Hotel website and on bookings.com website. I booked a room with a garden view and when I got to there, I opened the curtains and the only view of a garden was if I turned my head and body slightly, as the windows looked straight out on to a bar roof. The booking I made said it came with a double bed and a single bed, however it came with one single bed, and another "double bed" made from two single bed pushed together. The bed sheets were NOT changed daily, the bed was merely remade without new sheets. I know this, as I looked at the sheet on Monday on my check-in and it had a mark. Then, on Tuesday, after the bed was made, I checked the bottom sheet and the same mark was there. The maid said that the mark was from the washing machine, but there were other marks on the sheet as well, so I know it wasn't changed. The sheets were finally changed when I stripped the bed and left the sheets on the floor. The bed sheets should be changed daily, no matter if you're checking-in, checking-out, or staying, there is no excuse as I was outside most days. Also, the sheets were uncomfortable, itchy and I got bites from both the "double" bed and the single bed. There was no alarm clock, and the free toiletries were only cakes of soap - no small shampoo's or conditioners, which is what I call free toiletries. This should not be classed as a hotel or resort, but a backpackers, as the maids didn't change the sheets daily. I didn't see any room service, and the restaurant only served breakfast - no lunch or dinner during my stay. I did like that the resort had a clean pool open during all hours, it was in a very good location, and I also liked that they had a free shuttle out to the airport for my morning flight.
We stayed here as part of a group doing a Habitat build outside of Nadi. The location was convenient to our build site, there are some great restaurants near to the hotel. There is a supermarket next door. The staff is lovely and very helpful. The rooms are ok. Some of our group had problems with critters in their room, we did not. Water pressure was spotty, continental breakfast was not great (we ended up eating next door at Burger King where it was air conditioned and they had free WiFi)
We stayed here for the better part of 2 weeks as part of a group. We all enjoyed our stays. The staff was wonderful and the rooms (all on second floor) were all clean and had no problems with AC or water pressure. It is simple accommodations, but it provided everything we needed for our stay. The staff really made an effort to ensure our stay was comfortable. The meals were good value for what you would pay elsewhere. I would recommend the Capricorn if you are looking for simple accommodations in Nadi. It is clean, close to the supermarket, and the staff are excellent.
I booked a night here as a layover after visiting the islands so I could catch my flight out the following day. I should have guessed it was a dubious choice when the bus driver doing the transfer looked taken aback and a bit amused when I told him I was staying there. The receptionist was actually lovely and efficient, but after leaving the reception area it went downhill fast. The room numbering is confusing, so after wandering around trying to find my room with what seemed to be random numbers, and managing to be exposed to an elderly gent changing in his room with the curtains open (the rooms all have big glass doors onto the corridor) I found my room. The air-conditioning worked and there was toilet paper . That is about the nicest thing I can say. There were no overhead lights so the room felt gloomy the whole time (unless you wanted the curtains to the public corridor open, the bathroom was dirty including toothpaste smears, the towels were thin and stained, the shower head wouldn't sit upright, the cups for tea were dirty, and even the walls needed a wipe down. There was also a picture of a half -naked woman on the wall as an added touch. I felt like I may need to disinfect myself after leaving. I was on the side away from the nightclub (after hearing it was loud) but I could still hear it where I was so I shudder to think what it would be like any closer. I really wouldn't recommend this. Will not stay here again.
My family booked the family room for five days and to our disappointment the three air conditioning in the room leaked water. On complaining to the front desk, no action was taken to fix the leak. The pools side furniture were in a deteriorating condition. The whole surrounding of the hotel seems to be littered with old furniture, old vanity and broken glass. Pots & Pan and Mugs in the family room were dirty.
Currently in house and the air con units in each room are useless especially in this weather. Plus he aircon faces the TV and not the bed which makes matters worse! There's no proper circulation when it comes to the bed and everyone has to be standing next to the TV for some cool air. Mind you the aircon has been on since check in time. It's now after 7 in the evening. NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL.
