Baymont Inn & Suites Fargo2.5 out of 5.0

Perfect for a birthday weekend for my daughter. Thanks for the 21 birthday drink she was happy.
Due to the poor attitude of the 2 front desk clerks on Oct 11, I'm giving the Baymont Inn Fargo a 2 star review. I arrived for my reservation on October 11 for a King Suite. I was checked in to a room without hassle, all seemed well. I got to the room, it was a non-suite room and it was in mid-renovation, debris and equipment all over. This stuff happens, it's part of traveling. I went back to the desk to explain, and the clerk moved me to another room. I got to my second room, and it was room ready for checkin, but not a suite. It was a standard room. Since I booked and paid for a suite, I went back to the front desk again. I had my reservation in hand, and asked getting the room that I booked. The clerk gave me a shrug, she had no interest in addressing my concern. Then another clerk came up and aggressively told me that "suites are only for long term guests". I showed her my email confirmation printout which clearly showed I booked (and was charged for) a suite, but in her eyes I was dead wrong. I am not confrontational by nature so I just let it go. I am regretting this a bit now, but I hate people who scream and yell until they get what they want... I didn't want to be that person. Since I gave the hotel a chance to make it right, and they chose not to, I've made the decision to post a public review to warn others that you may not get what you pay for. And the Baymont Inn Fargo will *not* make it right. As a sidenote, I'm a Wyndham Rewards Diamond member, and ironically one of the Diamond level perks is free upgrades to a suite in their chain of hotels. Go figure!! To sum up my review... the place is half under renovation (as of October 11, 2017), but the room I eventually received was clean. Not the size I paid for, but it was clean. I generally don't book suites. But when I book one, I expect to stay in one. Customer service is non-existent. I stand by my 2 star rating.
The lobby and front desk service was clean, friendly, acceptable. But the room was badly in need of some work. The carpet was very worn and smelled. the sheets were stained. the room was dusty, and bathroom was not very clean. the towels were old, and worn. The washcloth even had holes in it. This room is not what I expect from the Baymont brand. This hotel should be taken off the Baymont brand. I feel that I did not get value for my money. I would not stay there again.
The only thing we felt was the breakfast didn’t compare to the Baymont in Grand Forks as they have protein like meat and eggs on the menu otherwise all was quite acceptable and the cost was reasonable
This facility is nice overall, however the room we were assigned (132) had a ridiculously small bathroom. I asked the desk clerk whether this was the norm. and she said she didn't know. If that is the case we will not be staying there again despite the fact that the facility and grounds are quite nice for an older established facility. The clerks lack of knowledge is forgivable since the facility has only opened as a Baymont 6 wks. ago and she is a relatively new hire. This was also made obvious by the opening pains they appear to be experiencing ie. not replenishing in room coffee, Kleenex & etc. ditto in breakfast area. Further, incorrect lids were provided for the Styrofoam cups provided.
I reserved a room for our parents and specifically asked for 2 beds because my son was also sleeping there. The employee who checked me in was disengaged and rude. I asked her to verify there were 2 beds. I should have checked it out myself. My family arrived later that evening and found only 1 bed. They had to ask for a rollaway, a remote for the tv, and the phone didn't work. The front desk could not find the record for their stay, so they spent time dealing with that until they finally found the paperwork.
Checked in late. No info about bkfst in room or provided at ck in. Didn't want to wake up clerk in case he was sleeping so skipped bkfst so I could catch an extra hr of sleep. Carpet was dirty, never walk barefoot in a hotel room but deffinitely not in this one. Property looks out dated.
This Hotel is old and outdated. This hotel needs a lot of work to get to the standard of Wyndham Hotels
The room was nice. We could not find an ice machine, anywhere. The sink and bathroom area need some improvement the lights in these areas are very dim. Could not find an information sheet or package of thing to do for the hotel or the area. They do have an outdoor pool. The "breakfast" is continental, which means very carb friendly donuts, cereal, waffels, apple and orange juice, bagels and a little fruit.
At 6 a.m. I asked them to bring toilet paper up to the room because the maid didnt add a new role had to use tissues. The bathroom door does not shut. The shower is clogged and it fills up the tub in about 5 minutes . The ironing board does not close. The TV remote is broken. Had to get new keys once or twice a day because somehow they stopped working. Was locked out of my room in my bathing suit because my key didn't work. They placed my handicap aunt in a wheelchair on the second floor with no elevator. Everything about my trip to Fargo was awesome....besides this hotel.
