Will someone please help me find a consistent, clean hotel chain? This room is ok. So far it's clean enough. The floors are not vacuumed well enough. The room was humid and had a plug in when we walked in which is just gross! I can smell smoke. After being on the road for days, I'd love to be home where I know the sheets and floors are clean. The front desk was nice. The restaurant attached is going strong and I think this is where the smoke is coming from.

Very clean hotel, bathrooms are like new, pool was warm, staff is very very friendly food was good at the Green Mill restaurant. I would tell anyone to stop at this hotel even the people in the town very friendly

We recently came here for a wedding with a 6 month old baby. Desk staff was very friendly, the property could use some updating but the rooms were very clean and the pool facility was perfect. The wading pool and deeper pool were the perfect temperature and very well kept. Would definitely recommend.

This property is one of the old model Holiday Inns, in other words, it offers alot of amenities that people want in a destination hotel. It has a restaurant, ballroom, indoor pool, jacuzzi, game rooms and play space for children. The extra hotel amenities may explain the relatively high price, given that the rooms and beds are small and the spaces seem outdated. Most notably, the carpet was old in our room and created kind of a funky, dirty laundry odor to the space and felt a slightly sticky underfoot.

We booked a room here as we planned to meet some local friends for the evening. We ended up getting into town at 2:30 pm and we were able to get into our room early with no problems. Kim at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. Since we were early we decided to spend a few hours in the pool. Kim assured us that it wasn't a problem to invite our local friends (2 boys) to join us for a couple of hours. The kids had a lot of fun in the very warm pool. One great thing about the pool area is also that there is a separate wading pool for little ones. It was also nice to have a dividing pool float to separate the shallow area from the deep area. **Note ... the pool towels are actually in the rooms rather than in the pool area so make sure to grab towels before going into the pool area. We had a very restful night of sleep and the room was very clean. We had a king bed with a pull-out sofa bed. Our room also had a refrigerator that worked very well. There was a great selection of television channels so we could find something appropriate for our young son to watch. The bathroom is very roomy and it was only lacking a fan which seems to be a common thing we have noticed missing in many hotel rooms any more. Kim was back on duty the morning we left and she gave us a map to find our way onto the interstate as the closest entrance ramp was closed for construction. Kim was awesome! We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in Fairmont!

We spent the night here while on a recent road trip. It was okay, but that's about the best I can say. The room was nice and newish. But they gave us a room facing the pool (which was all that was available). Maybe it's just me, but I would MUCH prefer a little natural light to a view of the pool. Feels like we ended up paying more for an "amenity" that was kind of pointless. One piece of advice: DO NOT order room service from the Green Mill restaurant, which is attached to hotel. We were traveling with our dog, and so thought it would be easy to order a pizza, so as not to have to leave the pooch alone in the room. Problems: (1) The person at the other end of the line didn't seem to know how to work the computer system, so it took me about ten minutes to place my order; (2) it took a long time to arrive; (3) they botched the order. Instead of the "veggie extreme" pizza I ordered, we got italian sausage and pepperoni. Annoying. Maybe this is more the restaurant's fault than the hotel's. And to be fair, if we had actually gone to the restaurant, I'm sure it would have worked out better. But gosh, if you are going to offer the room service option, at least try to get it right. Also, the pet fee at this Holiday Inn is $25--not totally unreasonable, but it adds up when the room rates are high to start with. We were tired after a day on the road and so just went with it. But if you're traveling with your pet, you'd be smart to go with La Quinta Inn, where dogs are always welcome, often with no extra pet fee.

I stayed here as I got sick while being on the road. The front desk staff was quite friendly. The room was just ok. Unlike as told at check in that "all our rooms are large", I found the one I had wasn't. That was ok, but no fridge, no microwave wasn't acceptable, albeit there was an on site dining room. I had to throw away food because there was no fridge. The room was clean, but the heater/ac was very loud and annoying. The pet charge supposedly goes 100% to the local shelter, which is a great idea. All in all this hotel was nice enough, but onsite dining isn't a concern of mine and the 'amenities' I needed were lacking. But it was a place to go to and I've stayed at two of the other hotels nearby before, and this is better than than those.

Great trip and not disappointed. From the hotel staff as I checked in, very helpful and caring. To the bar and dinner staff, and the food was excellent, and the staff friendly. I would recommend this for business or family events.

We (my daughter, her 13-month old son, and me) were traveling from Sioux Falls, SD to just south of Algona, IA late and needed a place to stay. I used points to stay here. Hotel was still decorated for Christmas and the lobby was very cute - and obvious that Santa Claus had been there to hear everyone's wishes. We got there rather late but the front desk staff was wonderful and SO PLEASANT. Exemplary service - someone who knows what it means to be in the hospitality industry. Awesome. We went to our room, dropped our luggage and headed for a drink in the bar/restaurant. Again, friendly folks. Normally, I find hotel bars/ restaurants a bit boring, but this place was hopping. We had a drink and went to the room for the night. There was nothing exceptional about the room and the building itself is rather old. But, it fit the bill. We had breakfast the next morning at the restaurant. Service was pleasant. If I were here again, would I stay here? Just because of the great service, I would. And the fact that it has a bar/restaurant as part of the hotel is a plus.

Fairmont, MN is halfway to our destination of Rapid City, SD. We spent 2 very relaxing nights at the Holiday Inn, one outbound and the other on our return trip. The hotel is conveniently located with easy access from Interstate 90. The staff were friendly and courteous. The room was clean and comfortable. Although we did not use the pool, it looked very inviting with plenty of space and seating. The Green Mill Restaurant and Bar, located within the hotel, provided outstanding food and service.
